When this came out in 1979, it became an instant jam, I live in Philly, every record store sold this out soon as the records arrived, I have this version still new, never opened, I was one of the 1st, out of a batch of 40 people to purchase this!!! Every time I here this jam, all hail DISCO!!!
BROOKLYN BORN KEVIN NANCE MOOG SYNTH/MOOG BASS/GRAND PIANO/ WROTE THIS EXTROIXDENARY SOCIALLY AWARE PULSATING ANTHEM THAT IS UNDENIABLE POETIC GREATNESS MUCH RESPECT .28 EARONS NYC BAND
Nothing like hearing this song at Studio 54 for the 1st time !!!! I will never forget those MAGICAL NIGHTS WITH THE STARS ! and still around to keep those memories alive ! Thank you for this........ God bless !
crowd would go ballistic in the House Clubs in the 90'S. Places Like the Tunnel, Palladium, Sound Factory, Lime Lite, and on, on, ...you would feel the floor move..when that beat would come on, the place would errupt . No one was sitting, holding up the walls, you didnt even needed a partner. you dance with the crowd. I can go on...but Im sure you get the picture.
Another masterpiece thats fallen out of my earphones in2 my ears. smiling after hearing this captivating song, try & not move, 10 seconds in tap tap, smiling, its the kind of song thats lifts u up when ur having a dogs dinner of a day, happy now😁😎☘💚🕺💃
I'm a lucky man. i got this track, exactly. White label, test pressing, unknow artist....So extreme that is mastered not perfectly "in time" pitch goes anywhere lol....but is a amazing funky house bomb.....bless ya!
I wish I could get this version on CD. This song packed the gay club dance floors in Boston circa 1979-1980. Still can pack the floors on retro nights.
Nice mix of this timeless classic! This is most likely a bootleg. Bootlegs are pressed up when people want to remain anonymous to avoid being sued rather than go through the proper channels to gain copyright permissions. Little or no information in the form of a white label is usually the way they go about doing so.
Im looking for almost the same version with more beat ..but it said on the beginig of the song "Push your hand in the air" They were Playing on FM 92.5 in Miami every sunday SHOW Classic Classic Dance "BUT THIS IS A GOOD ONE TOO"
@phillyfundude This is an old (relatively) house music remix from... I think 1995? I can't remember who produced it, for some reason I think it was someone in Chicago? I used to go to a lot of house parties and raves back then and this was one of my favorite tracks. It was a big one with other House heads too, the dancers would go nuts! I'll ask a dj friend of mine & he'll know. I'll post it once I find out.
I have been searching for this white label and cannot find it. Not even on discogs for the past several months. I have purchased a couple "remixes" that weren't it. There are two or three more records I am asking about because I would assume that it is impossible this isnt catalog #'d. Been asking people to compare with this video. Asking in comments because it looks like a few people here have the ability to find out what this is.
@djmegalopolous Dj's I knew always wanted white label pressings- since noone could trainspot you & know what track you're playing. I think it was -one dj, maybe Adam X?, when asked the name of a specific track used to reply, "mind your fuckin' business," and when the remix came out he referred to that one as, "mind your fuckin' business two." Lol.
Used to pick these type of white labels all the time at the record store in Hollywood across from the high school We called them European imports What was good about them was that it was a crap shoot If the album turned out good you were the only DJ with it So you had something , no one else could get Mobile DJ - Disco Odyssey 1970's-1980's
@drbarco Are LP's of this type totally white, no markings? I know a record shop that deals in all kinds of LPs and imports. Any hint of what's on it, dates, or is it a total crap shoot? I remember hearing this song when new in a club. Would love to finds priceless versions like this one. Thanks
Doesn't sound remotely housey to me. Sounds like a cut-up version of the original, hence the beat moving about - played by a real drummer, not a drum machine. May have been done in 95 because Fire Island had done pretty well with their cover of this song two years earlier in 93. Great track.
WOAH that extended intro is awesome. I'm actually working on a disco mix right now with the original version in it. Think you could you throw this up on rapidshare or something?
Do you happen to have the Radio version. It was a rare version where the lyrics were changed from "Somewhere far away, with no blacks, no jews & no gays" to "Somewhere far away, where only upper class people stay".
Baby, she turns out to be a natural freak Popping pills and smoking weed And when she's sweet sixteen she packs her things and leaves With a man she met on the street Carmen starts to bawl, bangs her head to the wall Too much love is worse than none at all
And the craziest part is some of the 'targeted groups' would all but 'kill' to have this version in their music collection. Even some 'Queer Folk' were known to hit the dance floor when this version was played, back in the day.

I respect, EDM, techno, alternative! but this is what started it all.
Ooooooweeeeeeee!!!! That long intro break is a hypnotic pounding into sonic insanity on the dance floor.....
Love this song and the turnout of the story...
I wish I could get this version on CD.
