Unfortunately when you find old coins on a beach they often are fairly beat up, but then it's the hunt that counts. Until it's in your hand it is always the treasure you hope to find.
I am always amazed at the Pre Decs popping out still. That must have been a great day

At 5:50 I can read "SURF SHOP" on the lower edge of the left and right arms of the cross.
So maybe a promotional piece or a badge from some surfing equipment.
I think you’re right, unfortunate that it’s so corroded.

What do you use to record your videos? Like do you clip a phone on your head or something?
Haha I have a GoPro with a chest mount, as well as a phone for close ups. The shots where I’m in frame were shot with a DSLR on a gimbal. For drone shots I use a DJI Phantom4. So there’s a few different cameras that go into it 👍

Yes it’s certainly uncommon. You don’t usually find old coins on the beach, they generally get washed away pretty quickly. This was due to strong currents changing the sand deposits along the coast, bringing older items back in/up to shore.
@@OurPastAu cheers, just put my detector on the charge for tomorrow morning at the beach. Be the first time i have gone out in months. Since covid to many detectors on the same beaches.
