⚽ Thank you for watching this video!! If you enjoy the content on youth soccer, please do me a quick favor and like the video. This helps us gauge what type of content coaches would like to see. Thanks again!!
Thanks Gary. I like the 3-2-3 for its flexibility and if you need to become more defensive it easily switches into a 3-4-1.
Thank you Frank! Yes, completely agree.... a lot of flexibility on both sides of the ball.
Thanks for the video!
We have been using the 4-2-2 in the first half and try to get the wing-backs space to run when we switch the field. 2 dedicated forwards are hard to stop on the attack! Depending on the players, this typically turns into a 2-4-2. 2nd half the opposing team has consistently added an extra forward or 2 up top b/c they see that we only have 2 defenders back most of the time. At this point, I switch to a 3-3-2. I have had a lot of success switching formations at half and the kids have become quite comfortable playing a variety of positions and formations.
Great points. Thank you
More of them please 9vs9
I would love to know about the 431 shape. Its one that I use often for my U12 bc it simplifies the game and transitions well to 11v11
I use a 323 with my u11 girls, mainly as it compliments the squad we have with some very quick and skilful wide players, however, the big focus for me is being able to play from the back effectively as we do tend to give the ball away early on in teh build up from time to time, and I don't want my GK booting it downfield.
Excellent. Thanks for sharing
Can you explained how i can play in 9v9 with the principles and patterns of Guardiola ?
I use a 1341 with a narrow diamond in midfield, full back can get on and the 6 and sit till still make it a 2 at the back
Great stuff. Thanks Keith
I only have 2 good players on my 9v9 team CM and ST any ideas for witch formation to use
Hi Gary like to see how one 9v9 shape up against another and discuss the pros and cons cheers
Thank you! Yes, that would be a good topic. I might do a webinar on it next month and go a little deeper on it.

9v9 ⚽️🙏
I am a player of a team that's playing 9v9.
Our concept is 3-4-1
1 center back (me), 2 full back, 1 defensive midfielder, 1 attacking midfielder, 2 wingers and 1 striker.
Could you please create a:
Building up (offense)- and Defensive tactics for this formation?
Thanks in advance.
