Picture this! You are in the middle of the desert! You don’t see anything but dry dunes, no clouds and a lot of cactuses 🌵. So the only reasonable thing to do! Eat the cactus
Ever wondered how to prepare a cactus, or how to even eat it! Well this is the video for you!
Today, you have to de-spike the cactus. Because if it wasn’t obvious enough. The spikes can hurt you , especially your throat!
Get a knife and start scratching away at the cactus’ spikes. Next, slip it on the other side and repeat. Cut around the edges. I cut mines in the intent as a veggie patty 😎. Then chop off the “stem” or end part of the cactus.
Most cultures use cactus as a mixture or garnish. Like eating green tortillas, green nachos or as pickled veggies.
I air fried mines because I like air frying. In some butter salt and pepper.
I took the well deserved bite and to my surprise it was like a soggy-cucumber- like pickle.

You want to hold the cactus over a fire to burn off the needles.
also, you want to shove your knife into it, and push outside. Cutting from in to out prevents needles from being pushed into the cactus

Might have been good to look up a recipe, lol. The air fryer is definitely not the application for that. Boil it with onion, garlic, and cilantro stems or saute it for 20 minutes until al the "slime" is gone.
