Hey Guys, As you have probably noticed already i have updated the channel name and logo. The channel is no longer Really Random Channel it is now RRC Restoration. Just incase you were wondering why the water marks in the video still say Really Random Channel. Enjoy.
Do you do your restoration your rear driveshaft as well mine is the gc8 wrx sti v3 part number rear were Rear right 28021FA161 Rear left 28021FA171 (sadly oem stop productions already) The 1 short inner shaft at the left and the longer shaft in the right. Do your know where can i source the after market which same like mine car
I like how everything is pretty straight forward! Not too much talking and more doing! Not like other channels they just talk a lot. Loving the restoration RRC!!! Keep it upppp
A lot of people don’t realise these older WRX were and still are great drivers cars, so much fun to drive, none of the BS gadgetry and driving aids like on the newer ones that sedate the experience. Always nice to see one lovingly restored to its former glory.
Thank you for leaving a comment :) Your spot on these old Subarus are brilliant to drive even by modern standards, although ABS and an airbag would be nice haha
Wow, I kinda forgot about this one, and now I realize just how much I missed seeing your work! It's literally like watching a great movie. It just transports me to another place and time.
Started watching Really Random Channel when I tore my Achilles last year. I’m up and around now, and I still can’t get enough of this channel!! Keep up the great work!!
Hi, Really sorry to hear that it sounds painful hope your all good now though. Really glad to have you along for the ride plenty more random videos to come :)
wonderful to see it all go together. All bolts/nuts/wire connectors etc all seem to not give you any problems. I wish it was like that for me as well... As always wonderful to watch. Thank you for sharing.
19:46 such careful work, all that equipment from angle grinder to sand blaster and even a painting cabin... and yet you're missing a funnel or even a rolled up newspaper to keep the coolant from spilling all over the place... ;-) Just kidding. Most impressive work again (so as not to say as usual, because I don't get used to it) and your video editing skills also are on a great level. Those self made brackets look just as they came stock. Absolutely awesome!
Haha love the comment :) You know whats its like you can never find a funnel when you need one . Really glad you enjoyed the video and i hope to see you again soon in the next episode :)
Glad I only owned and drove hard two wrx sti subarus , long before they needed any restoration, I haven’t got the patience or skills required for that part of vehicles , just riding and driving fast was my passion, cheers shane uk 🇬🇧
Thank you very much, Its good to be back :) Yeah it was really fun driving it with 260/270 hp i imagine 400 in a car as light as this with no ABS or airbags will be terrifying haha :)
The voice overs are back! Your commitment to hand tools is admirable, I would have had an electric drill out after the 3rd fastener. Looking good. Rex's are my favorite car. I keep saying I am going to own one before I'm too old. Well done!
Nice to see you , Yeah i like to do a bit of narration now and again just helps everyone to understand whats going on.... well that is when they can understand my thick accent haha. Glad your enjoying the videos :)
Decided to dispense with the blow off valve in the end? Looking mighty fine sir, mighty fine indeed. And you really can't beat the burble of a boxer engine can you!
Ah Pete always a pleasure to see you, Yeah i had a slight change of plans once i welded up the hole and done a test fit and realized i could still run the vent to atmosphere BOV which i will have to get mapped in to let the car know that its dumping air between shifts so as not to throw a code but apart from that im happy to keep my original BOV as i love the sound it makes compared to a recirc valve haha.Glad you enjoyed the video and yeah the Scooby rumble is just epic :)
Great video! You can get a tool for straightening the fins on radiators/intercoolers. If you used one on that intercooler to fix it up, would look even better without having all those bent fins when you open the bonnet
Awesome work i hope to have my gc at this standard one day. However I would highly recommend not heat wrapping the headers on Subaru's as it is the perfect wick for oil leaks to soak into and cause a fire. Heat Sheilds or ceramic coating will help with heatsoak aswell as ceramic coat lets you see any cracks that develop without having to unwrap or remove heat Sheilds. Keep up the good work
There’s no bead on the intercooler outlet. Are you worried about it leaking or the coupler coming off? You can maybe add a bead with the tig to give it a little something to hold on to. Fantastic work by the way.
Good spot i was wondering how long it would take someone to mention it ;) I did think about putting a bead on but then when i done the pre-fit and saw how tight the fit is i decided to leave it without a bead as theres zero risk of the coupler blowing off. Thanks for leaving a comment :)
How wonderful, an excellent job. I could use that red sleeve that you cut at admission 😂😂. It was great, like all your works like all your video. Congratulations.
When the oblique intercooler on my Impreza died completely, I switched to the front intercooler. In your version there is a serious flaw - you can not put the engine compartment strut.
Hi RRC Sir another cracking video , for a minute there with the fab work & brackets, thought i was watching Project Binkey hehe, did you go for a raptor liner for the inner wings/flitches ? good work in the video RRC sticker placement bang on ? ATB Wayne..........
Hi Wayne always a pleasure :) Glad you enjoyed the video haha yeah project binky is an epic project id love to be able to fabricate stuff with half the skill that those guys have. Im going to be starting work on the arches very soon but yeah white raptor liner will defo be the product of choice for protecting the arches ;) Hope to see you again soon stay safe.
Thank you, haha yeah some parts really did try my patience as well haha. The wheels will be painted and the calipers will be replaced with bigger ones... stay tuned ;)
Your work are an inspiration!! Two questions, what liquid do you use in your ultrasonic cleaner and have you ever clean oxygen sensor? Does it work? Thank you for your magnificent channel!

I have owned two wrx one sti and a p1 regret selling the p1. Never got fed up of the sound🔊 great program.
Cheers Geoff.

Really Random Channel hopefully one of those random videos is a rally stage in your kitted out Subie 😁
Stumbled on this channel and now I’m hooked! Love watching the start to finish and seeing the transformation of all the projects! Love it!
Thank you so much glad you enjoy my work :)
I need someone to take care of me this good
Damn that’s a vibe
Ha ha ha, yes dude, if only eh?
So satisfying seeing someone who takes so much time and pride in their work. Really enjoy this series.
Thank you very much :)
And..... Breathe! Woohoo! I love to see fabrication using the old-school techniques!
Looking awesome brother! 👍👍👍👍
Thank you! Cheers! :)
CAD Cardboard Aided Design
I like that you put the wheels under the frame while you had them off. So it falls on the rims instead of crushing you. Nice trick.
Thanks 👍

I was waiting for the crunch when he reversed back in 😂
big respect for how you take care of all details. This is a really very good quality job. not fast US standard "restoration"
What a stunning example of one of my favorite cars of all time!
Every time I hear your accent, I am THIS close to buying a one way ticket to Scotland to settle there forever. Excellent video as always mate!
we would love to have you, But could you handle the constant wind and rain? thats the question haha. Glad you enjoyed the video :)
@@RRCRestoration I live on the Swedish west coast. We have plenty of wind and rain too, but not the Scottish accent to make it worth it :( LOL
@19:48 I'm sitting here "please use a funnel!"
Haha i like to live dangerously
Glad I only owned and drove hard two wrx sti subarus , long before they needed any restoration, I haven’t got the patience or skills required for that part of vehicles , just riding and driving fast was my passion, cheers shane uk 🇬🇧
I forgot about this project. Thanks for taking me back to your shop🤙🤙
No worries ;)
Man I crashed my gc8 3 weeks ago I'm so happy to see that you are taking so much care of your be safe with her
Oh no sorry to hear that, I hope your ok?
@@RRCRestoration yes don't worry everything is solved I'm getting a new one
Great Video and good to see you back in the workshop. 350-400 HP will certainly be enjoyable when it's ready
Thank you very much, Its good to be back :) Yeah it was really fun driving it with 260/270 hp i imagine 400 in a car as light as this with no ABS or airbags will be terrifying haha :)
Stunning attention to detail love how your channel is all about your skills. You have a very interesting channel that’s a joy to watch.
Thank you so much for your kind comment :)
This is going to be a 70k car if you continue renovating it this way! Good work so far.
That would be nice :)
She looks smashing, mate, a real work of art. Well done!
Thank you :)
Nice job bro it's another level of mechanic
Being waiting for a new video from you to help get through lockdown. Many thanks and keep up the fantastic work.👍👍👍

Really Random Channel I’m from Texas, we have our own thick accents, so I’m used to it. Keep it up
Waiting for the next episode. That is amazing job done. Thanks for sharing!
Already working on it ;)
A long time ago there was a great invention. It was called a funnel and it worked very well. You still can get them today at a good price!
Update: I like your channel and I am subscribed.
Haha, Yeah i vastly overestimated how good my aim was :( Really glad you enjoy my videos and thank you for subscribing it means a lot :)
That engine looks top class Scoobys were everywhere when I was a lad they sound awesome not the prettiest of engine bays but yours looks great.
I have to agree with you, A scooby engine bay is a very tough thing to make look pretty haha
With all due respect, be sure to use a protective cover when using a angle grinder. It can cost a life, don't neglect it.
a finger's life*
Never used one blades blow up into tiny fragments there designed to those fragments are nothing more than a rude shock
This is the nicest engine bay I've seen! Well done man!
Thank you very much :)
Really nice “CAD template” there buddy! 🤣🤣🤣
haha just my way of giving a nod off appreciation to the boys over at Bad Obsession :)
Just what I needed...relaxing straight up build, No fluff just tool noise N a SUBIE!!! Nice;)

@@RRCRestoration exactly what I thought. When it's bolted all down there is no way this small pipe would go anywhere
I'm a Really Random average fan, i hit the like button before the start of the video and at the end i'm simply stunning!😍
Thank you so much :)
this is my dream car, and i want to restore it myself as well. got a new wrx, need an old one now
As usual impressive work, there is a bookcase on the trunk :-)
Fantastic work as always.
Thank you very much, Always a pleasure to see you.

PLEASE straighten those intercooler fins my OCD is killing me!!! Beautiful rebuild.
Not to worry, its on my list of final jobs i need to sort out before hitting the road/track. Glad you are enjoying the project :)
Great to have you back!
Thank you its good to be back :)
Great work! Inspiring me to finish my GC8 build, or whatever we call them stateside.
I fucking love this channel... this guy is a FUCKING ENGINEERING MONSTER!!!!! Very relaxing watching him WORK😌🧐
Thank you so so much for your kind comment :)
If you're running any "significant" boost without beads on the IC and TB you may get a boost leak no matter how tight you get those clamps.
Hi. Yeah i knew at the time i was running a risk of boost leak but im prepared for it when i start cranking up the boost ;)
Beautiful engine sound
When the oblique intercooler on my Impreza died completely, I switched to the front intercooler. In your version there is a serious flaw - you can not put the engine compartment strut.
Love the car cant wait to see it all finished
Carro lindo, parabéns!👏👏
you just earned a new subscriber because i realy like you videos.
You've done an amazing job!!
Nice video, As these cars age i personally think the pre facelift looks better nowadays 😁
Really? I tend to prefer the face lift but just in case i change my mind i still have all the pre-facelift stuff to put mine back to original haha
@@RRCRestoration 😂 same I done a facelift on my 95 import and then it got stolen 😂
That was very brave of you to not use a funnel for that coolant... All over the new stuff hahaha
Woohoo, content on the Subaru! Gonna make me a cuppa before I watch this one.
Enjoy :)
Awesome man!! Please make more vids like this!!
Nice one mate. Always wondered why Subaru put covers over the fog lamps...
Thank you :) They do it to make the car look more like the WRC version as it had the covers where the fog lamps are ;)
Nice work, great editing and content, too good for RUclips. 👍🏻
@STtyrone .Criticize criticize blah blah blah. You sound just like my ex wife and nobody liked her either.
Thank you very much :) Always a pleasure to see you in the comment section.
Great job as always, keep up the good work 👍

you should stick to restoration...not pouring coolant 😂 great content.
7:30 CADboard template 😂😉

Thank you for your magnificent channel!
I would love this sort of work doing to my Mk4 Astra Gsi but id imagine you'll have a really big waiting list that's if you do it for other people.
Perfect mate well done
Wow love it a proper Impreza. No silly ugly mods
I would love a video talking about the tools you use for these restoration projects
I could do a video on that at some point ;)
I'm big fun of these cars I hope get clean one someday :)
