This is an amazing arrangement. Almost wish they played this version when I saw them last year...but the full one is also great. I have fond memories of listening to the album version (sneakily, under cover of a hoodie) as my plane took off from Sky Harbor last summer :)

Don't get me wrong I like Green Day, but I don't get how they're more popular than Jimmy Eat World
seriously, Green Day is probably the most over-rated punk band of all time. I listen to them occasionally, but that doesn't mean they deserve the kind of attention they get lol
The Human Spider popular =/= overrated
The only album they have that is consistently highly rated is dookie. Their singles are nice too

the album version is amazing. great start, amazing 10 minutes of loops and vocals and the surprisingly good ending!
but i do agree, live it is very good. at leeds festival, it was the song of the weekend for me, to see them do such an old song in 2007 was really great.

I like both this and the album version, it's just more practical to listen to this. You can find a type like this on the Believe in What You Want DVD.

Fucking incredible. I love the album version to death but this live version is just pure genius. The descending lead melody sounds so cathartic when it’s played with distortion, especially when they transition it into a clean channel again at the end. This performance makes me proud to be an Arizonan.

Almost every line in the song is quote from the book "A Prayer for Owen Meany." There is a scene in the book at the Sky Harbor airport, hence the song title.

you are right, this song was based off the book, i think everyone should read. Its about a boy named Owen Meany who dies a hero. Its one amazing story!!
I heard that the length of the song - 16 mins+ coincides with the amount of time it takes you to bleed out and die from slitting your wrists....and Sky Harbour is the airport in Phoenix, which is the closest to their hometown of Mesa....which is where I'm going today woot!

dude, are you kidding me? the full version of Goodbye Sky Harbour is about 500 times better than Only In Dreams. I mean everything off The Blue Album is great, but Goodbye Sky Harbour is a much better song.

i love this song on clarity. but this doesn't sound that well "live". maybe he was having a bad day but his live singing leaves a bit to be desired. but he seems to be rockin out so thats good =)
