PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) is just one of the several different possible doctor level degrees, academic doctorates.

My main challenge is getting a supervisor. I have tried several times to get a supervisor but nothing till now.

Are you sure? There will always be information on requirements. Most PhD programs are free.

I just got admitted to study as a researcher in Finland. I am asked to submit a 3 month bank statement for the proof of fund. My study right starts on January 1st. Do i need to keep the required fund in my personal account for 3 months before generating the bank statement or i can generate the 3 month statement at any time provided i have the fund in the account.
Can i book embassy appointment for residence permit before registering on Enter Finland?

Congratulations on your admission🎊
Just count 3 months back from the day you intend to submit your application. Be ready to explain the source of your funds. You can ensure the funds are there all through till you get a decision.
If it is hard to get an appointment in the country you are applying from, it's better to get an appointment first. After that, you can submit your application in Enter Finland any day before your appointment day.

Dear Blessed Oluwatoyin, My wife has a bachelors and masters in Nutritional Biochemistry. She wants to come for her PhD in Finland but needs funding and scholarship. Can i come with ans work full time.
Yes, PhD students can come with their families as long as they have the proof of funds for living expenses. And yes, you will work full time as her spouse. She needs to thoroughly search the 13 universities in Finland to find a PHD program that aligns with her field or interest. If available, there would most likely be funding for it.

@user-qg3qz6xe6m If she is coming with funding which is the only advisable way, she will be paid stipends and the stipends should cover the whole family. However, according to migri, a student needs to show 6720 Eur, spouse 8400 Eur, first child 6000 Eur, second child 4800 Eur, 3rd child 3600 Eur per year.

We just got married for a year plus so i will also be required to show proof of funds 8400 Eur as her spouse. So what is the funding or scholarship. The proof of fund is on the high side with the exchange rate in Nigeria.

1) Do all the universities require an English test?
2) though no is no fee is there need for proof of fund or bank statement
3) after the university accepts the application process do I need to go to the embassy and drop all documents for further interview or an agent processes the papers? Or i can run things my self?

1) Not all universities require an English test
2) Not really if the stipend is good. But it is always good to have some money in your account, esp if you are coming with family. Visit enterfinland or migri.fi for more info.
3) After getting an admission, apply for your residence permit online at enterfinland and proceed to the embassy for an interview. I will not recommend agents because application is straightforward and well explained on their website.

@@BlessedToyin please is there a difference between academic position, PhD position and PhD researcher? 🥰
@nadinewhite957 academic position could mean a phd position or a research assitant etc, any paid position in the academic space is an academic position. Phd position is being precise, where a Phd student is paid stipends. Phd researcher includes Phd students, faculty, postdocs etc. Any person conducting research at a doctoral level is a Phd researcher. However, most Phd researchers I have seen already have their PhDs. I hope this helps.

@@abdulsuban2722 Yes. Submit what you have and tell them you don't have a publication yet. Usually, candidates with publications have edge over others but you never can tell.

1) are there aby grounds for rejection in the application process)
2) does the phd program begin after embassy has approved all the traveling documents or the candidate can postponed the program for a year for example before traveling? Or he/she has to travel immediately after approval from embassy
3) i read from an articles that candidated can apply for phd funding i got a little bit confused because i know the program is already funded or it is funding for something else.
4) does the candidate present their phd research topics or it is based on the available positions in the faculty being funded.

There are always grounds for rejection in any application.

It's not a must but it increases your chances.
