Hi there nice info! I'm searching for u-joint, as in driveline, comparisons. Do you know anyone who has compared wear, load abilities, and resistance to operational grime with OEM new u-joints and a few popular aftermarket brands too? Like Moog to Spicer to Toyota to GM, etc. I am especially interested in tests between the same size of competitive brands of both sealed and re-greaseable universal joints. Thanks!
What about greasing a U joint after it’s installed? You’re not going to remove the U joint so you can remove the cap so you can grease it, are you? Can’t you just grease it through the cap, while it’s installed?
He said get it greased with every oil change. Well... i had mine replaced a while back and have had several oil changes since then and never greased the u joints. Now my truck is squeaky and clunky. So I guess for good maintenance find a shop that will do it i suppose. I am trying to figure out how to do it myself if possible. What kind of oil etc
Yeah you can grease it while installed, just as you can with bal joints etc. I think he was just pre greasing it while off the car to ensure it was through all the parts, not going on dry.
