I got some anti-fatigue matting from work recently, the company I work for had just bought some new mats in and I rescued one of the old ones from the skip. It is now in my workshop and, man, does it make a difference in there. A very interesting video, many thanks.

Absolutely brilliant Mish Mash Monday!. I use an Eclipse hacksaw, bought for dad by his uncle in 1937 and still working fine. If you find one, well worth picking up. I agree so much on the magnetic pick up tool is a lifesaver.
I've had the same experience with those plastic cutters -I have one in a tool box with a piece of tape on it marked "use table saw". I can't just get rid of it because I'm afraid I'll forget they don't work and buy a new one the next time I need to cut plastic! LOL Thanks to Tony for the link - I've already put it to use!
Hello ScoutCrafter! I checked out the catalog really cool. I have a story about Stanley Tools. They made MATCO screwdrivers and when I worked for my auto tool manufacturing place we obtained the stanley screwdriver business. The brought a bunch of stainless tables and they must have struggled making screwdrivers. The tip was inserted in a handle BY HAND! (must have used a hammer) We made a machine that used a air cylinder to press the handles on and improved the machine that pressed the label into the handle. Just letting you know for a time I made Stanley screwdrivers. WOW good tip on the plexiglass..
Hi scout, you could tell Sue was over the moon whith Howdy Doody, well done my friend, I bet that poor little hammer was crying as you left Lowes, don't you just feel bad ,lol. I've sometimes had to go back the day after to pick a tool up ,so I could sleep night's, I think we need help,Haha. My only atempt at cutting plexiglass was whith a scroll saw, a few seconds into the cut and the blade welded itself in, I will try the table saw method next time, thanks. Kind regards .Stuart.

I’ve turned wrenches all my life & ive come to learn that the feel of a tool in my hand is important. I’ve never liked the raised panel tools. They are uncomfortable to the hand especially when you’re really pulling or pushing on them. I’ve opted to buy smooth tools such as those ratchets you pointed out. If I was still in the business I’d go buy one of those.

GREAT vid to day John! I learned a lot. In fact I am kicking myself b/c I never knew what the angled pin on a hacksaw was there for! I have an inexpensive, and old hacksaw with this on it and remember seeing it, but not paying any attention to it🙄. Do you see an advantage to your new Lenox saw vs the older one at 3:48 with the red knob on top? I have been looking for one like the red knob for use..
An excellent video John. I will use your method for Perspex in future. You guys are spoiled for choice in the States compared to what we get in Oz. A few years ago my wife and I did a cruise around Hawaii and she was not to impressed when I made a bee line for Walmart and then spent ages in a tool shop. The crew on the ship looked at me like I was weird when they looked in my bag when re-boarding and there were no trinkets just tools. They decided to hold onto the circular saw blades until the end of the cruise, just for safety reasons, but we all had a good laugh about it. I have to say John, Americans really “get” customer service as everywhere we went people were very friendly and helpful. Cheers mate, Stuart 🇦🇺
Hi Stuart! Actually Hawaii is a little pricey too because of shipping expenses... I was shocked to see how much tools cost in Australia! Wow! I can't see the reason for some of the high prices. I like that Lenox hacksaw, with the flush cut and the blade storage. I have a few times where I stop a project looking for blades in storage or dig for them out of the bottom of the tool box.
My brother in law Ewald works for Zotefoams. They make all kinds and grades of foam. The basic blocks that are the result of making closed cell foam are called buns. The buns haveva tough layer on the outside that has to be skived off. That waste foam makes excellent shop mats. Ewald got me several. In Coldwater one of the companies, Voltek, made foam for the athletic equipment market. Any buns that were not perfect were tossed. Coldwater is surrounded by lakes. Soon the buns were on every beach. At 235 lbs I could stand in the center of one of the 4'x6'x4" buns like standing on a dock. Now I see the bunns on the shores of lake Michigan. 😆
Wow! Sounds like a great product! Shop mats are one of those things that you hate to spend the money on but are so useful! I guess Ewald never was able to have one of those bicycle license plates that had his name embossed on it... =D Thanks Dave!!!!!!
John great tip on the plexi cutting. I cut windows for my welding helmet when need be and I'm always that guy with a box cutter, struggling. I will definitely use the table saw to score it next time.
@@ScoutCrafter yeah but I have to fab up something to make the blade fit the arbor. As it is the hole in the blade is about a good 16th bigger than the arbor.
Mish mosh Mondays are great. Nice tip on the plexi cutting and magnets. I use them on my machine tools for quick and easy cleanup. It's getting hard to find 10 inch hacksaw blades anymore. My monkey wards power hacksaw only has a 10 inch arbor bur Sterrett still is a good source for them. Happy Monday, thanks for the video!

It would be nice if Craftsman brought back their made in the USA line like old times. Stands to reason that they would attract more customers that way. That's what people want. The made in the USA aspect. On another note that Starrett saw is niiiiiice!
Yeah Scoutcrafter, we use craftsman in the fire dept. Often wondered what would happen if they sold out to China. We need good quality but affordable tools. Hand tools are often used for auto extrication or taking a machine apart where someone has their hand entrapped, etc. Glad to hear that they switched to Taiwanese. I've got one of those irwin fiberglass hammers. They're nice. I usually get those plumb ones because of the soft end. Good for pushing trim down, or bumping things. The Irwin has a hard plastic end on the handle.
Hi Scout Crafter I used to cut glass and sometimes plexiglass for a living your method with the table saw works great. We didn't have a table saw we did the score and snap method the trick is you score it multiple times get as deep a grove as you can then snap it over the edge of a table. another way is you use a jigsaw get someone to spray water with a spray bottle where you are cutting so it doesn't melt back together
Hello David! LOL! When trying other methods I often melted the plastic back together!!! =) I thought it was me!!!!! LOL The table saw method works awesome but can only make straight cuts! Thanks David!!!!!
@@ScoutCrafter lexan is about twice the price of plexiglass and is way stronger the score and snap method doesn't work but you can saw it with any circular saw band saw even hand saw you don't even have to be gentle it won't crack.
Yes they are pricy but when on sale or bought in a set the price is very reasonable, but like most Craftsman tools alone they are high!! Thanks!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the video today. I really like that hack saw! In the intro you are standing in front of a mish-mosh of aerosol and cans of stuff. Maybe someday you could explain or review all those cans and their uses. I recognize most but there are some that are? I also saw the irons on the bottom shelf. Those are the fancy kind. You heat up several and swap the handle to the next one when the first one cools down. Those are pretty cool. Thanks again!
Hi Mark! You have good eyes! I will have to go over the lubes and sprays! I always liked a good lubricant! The SAD irons were really interesting, I have a really interesting collection of vintage Irons, I don't know why but always found them interesting! =) They make great weights for glue ups too!!!

I never understood hacksaw frames as the blade fits on a pin and does not always sit perpendicular and it does not matter how tight the blade is. Both ends should be clamped solid. Your anti fatigue mats are awesome but how do you keep them so clean? My floor gets covered in oily filings, sawdust dirt and it sticks to everything.The other tool you need with the magnetic pick up is the long claw to pick non magnetic parts, A flexible shaft with a button you press to open the claw to grab the part. Looking forward to tomorrows and Wednesdays videos.
Hi Tony! You’re right! They can get messy! I don’t have them in the grinding, buffing and sawing section because of that! The pick-up Claw is awesome too! Great for Brass or Aluminum! Lol. Every time a pick-up tool saves the day I always think “Best $4 I ever spent”. 😃👍

Hello Scout I've never tried cutting plexiglass on the table saw.. but I do cut my plexiglass on my tile cutting table saw and it comes out just like that.. God bless you family and friends.
7:38 i got one of those for my sister to pick up metal dog food lids she leaves in her driveway, and she never picks them up, she lets her dogs lick the cans etc..
I too have used my bandsaw for cutting Plexiglas however there are some mystery plastics out there that look like the good stuff but is greatly inferior! (ask me how I know) =) We wonder why the real stuff is so expensive? Well try working with the cheap stuff and you will see! LOL Thanks!
Taiwan is one of the top tool manufacturers today! Real quality and no junk... Unfortunately China can't be trusted, some manufacturers in China will cut corners when ever possible. =) Thanks!!
We used byrilliam (sp?) tools in the Navy on the P-3 Orion to work on the Magnetic Anomaly Detector (MAD) System, as they are non-magnetic. You can't use magnetic tools on that system. We did have to be careful of any dust generated by the system. As you pointed out, it is VERY toxic! Hadn't seen anyone else ever use them. Goid memories. Thanks.

@@ScoutCrafter Ours were kept in their own box, segregated from regular tools, checked out when needed, then returned to the tool room. If I remember, the set was very basic, pliers, crescent wrench, a couple of screwdrivers, and a few open end wrenches. Just what you needed for that specific system. Thanks for the reply. Lol you must have a lot of hammers to pass up a deal like that! I myself have been looking into a new style hacksaw for metal, that lenox is really nice I like the fact it stores the extra blades to keep it all together. Maybe we can see you're craftsman tools that are deemed collectables or have cult followings eventually on a mish mosh.. Try out the feet mat's at HF those are really nice, I been meaning to get a couple squares of it. Man I will be spending a lot of my future time on that new website, gotta love the internet! hack saw blades are good to reuse for different stuff. like when i was in high school taking woods class they had a 2x4 with a old hack saw blade screwed to it and you can now slip sheets of sand paper under it and cut off what you need kinda the same idea as aluminum foil how it cuts off. i always thought that was such the neatest thing i seen to recycle a used wore outish hack saw blade. im sure you can use a new one if you wanted to

I'v got two block planes and i can't seem to find any information on them. the only marks on them are made in usa and C 4 on one and C 2 on the other can you help Thanks
One field I never really got into was planes... I have a bunch but as a novice woodworker I screwed up a couple projects with the hand plane and never used them after that! LOL We had some guys in the club that were plane experts!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Lowes is phasing out Irwin, I know they phased out Stanley/Fatmax. Lenox I am not sure but I love Lenox blades and some of their other tools look good.
That Middletown NY Lowes always has stuff on sale when other stores don't... I love that place! Their tool section is huge too! I too like Lenox stuff! Wish it was made here but I still like it! =) Thanks!!!!!!!!
Spoiler alert on the wensday video! Ha, great video, I really enjoyed the trip to Lowe's. Hopefully in a few years I can visite it myself (I am very interested in Tractor Supply too, When I was in the US, I think I've seen one/a few but was thinking it was all agricultural big machinery, wich on second tought I find very interesting aswell)

John great tip on the plexi cutting. I cut windows for my welding helmet when need be and I'm always that guy with a box cutter, struggling. I will definitely use the table saw to score it next time.

@@ScoutCrafter yeah but I have to fab up something to make the blade fit the arbor. As it is the hole in the blade is about a good 16th bigger than the arbor.
Mish mosh Mondays are great. Nice tip on the plexi cutting and magnets. I use them on my machine tools for quick and easy cleanup. It's getting hard to find 10 inch hacksaw blades anymore. My monkey wards power hacksaw only has a 10 inch arbor bur Sterrett still is a good source for them. Happy Monday, thanks for the video!

Yeah Scoutcrafter, we use craftsman in the fire dept. Often wondered what would happen if they sold out to China. We need good quality but affordable tools. Hand tools are often used for auto extrication or taking a machine apart where someone has their hand entrapped, etc. Glad to hear that they switched to Taiwanese. You finally got the Lenox hacksaw. 👍 Great tips on plexi.

I've got one of those irwin fiberglass hammers. They're nice. I usually get those plumb ones because of the soft end. Good for pushing trim down, or bumping things. The Irwin has a hard plastic end on the handle.

Hi Scout Crafter I used to cut glass and sometimes plexiglass for a living your method with the table saw works great. We didn't have a table saw we did the score and snap method the trick is you score it multiple times get as deep a grove as you can then snap it over the edge of a table. another way is you use a jigsaw get someone to spray water with a spray bottle where you are cutting so it doesn't melt back together
Hello David! LOL! When trying other methods I often melted the plastic back together!!! =) I thought it was me!!!!! LOL The table saw method works awesome but can only make straight cuts! Thanks David!!!!!
@@ScoutCrafter lexan is about twice the price of plexiglass and is way stronger the score and snap method doesn't work but you can saw it with any circular saw band saw even hand saw you don't even have to be gentle it won't crack.
That hammer was a great deal. The one I fiture on my last video lowes doesnt have it any more. Makes it more special to me or any collector
You can cut plexiglas on a table saw with the blade mounted backwards too

In the intro you are standing in front of a mish-mosh of aerosol and cans of stuff. Maybe someday you could explain or review all those cans and their uses. I recognize most but there are some that are?
I also saw the irons on the bottom shelf. Those are the fancy kind. You heat up several and swap the handle to the next one when the first one cools down. Those are pretty cool.

The SAD irons were really interesting, I have a really interesting collection of vintage Irons, I don't know why but always found them interesting! =) They make great weights for glue ups too!!!

Love using the catalog website. I have printed off a few Bonney tool catalogs for reference.
I never understood hacksaw frames as the blade fits on a pin and does not always sit perpendicular and it does not matter how tight the blade is. Both ends should be clamped solid. Your anti fatigue mats are awesome but how do you keep them so clean? My floor gets covered in oily filings, sawdust dirt and it sticks to everything.The other tool you need with the magnetic pick up is the long claw to pick non magnetic parts, A flexible shaft with a button you press to open the claw to grab the part. Looking forward to tomorrows and Wednesdays videos.
Hi Tony! You’re right! They can get messy! I don’t have them in the grinding, buffing and sawing section because of that! The pick-up Claw is awesome too! Great for Brass or Aluminum! Lol. Every time a pick-up tool saves the day I always think “Best $4 I ever spent”. 😃👍

I have always had good luck cutting Plexiglass with a bandsaw, use a coarse blade like for wood. Hundreds of aircraft windows with no chipped corners!
I too have used my bandsaw for cutting Plexiglas however there are some mystery plastics out there that look like the good stuff but is greatly inferior! (ask me how I know) =) We wonder why the real stuff is so expensive? Well try working with the cheap stuff and you will see! LOL Thanks!

We used byrilliam (sp?) tools in the Navy on the P-3 Orion to work on the Magnetic Anomaly Detector (MAD) System, as they are non-magnetic. You can't use magnetic tools on that system. We did have to be careful of any dust generated by the system. As you pointed out, it is VERY toxic! Hadn't seen anyone else ever use them. Goid memories. Thanks.

@@ScoutCrafter Ours were kept in their own box, segregated from regular tools, checked out when needed, then returned to the tool room. If I remember, the set was very basic, pliers, crescent wrench, a couple of screwdrivers, and a few open end wrenches. Just what you needed for that specific system. Thanks for the reply. I myself have been looking into a new style hacksaw for metal, that lenox is really nice I like the fact it stores the extra blades to keep it all together. Maybe we can see you're craftsman tools that are deemed collectables or have cult followings eventually on a mish mosh.. Try out the feet mat's at HF those are really nice, I been meaning to get a couple squares of it. Man I will be spending a lot of my future time on that new website, gotta love the internet! hack saw blades are good to reuse for different stuff. like when i was in high school taking woods class they had a 2x4 with a old hack saw blade screwed to it and you can now slip sheets of sand paper under it and cut off what you need kinda the same idea as aluminum foil how it cuts off. i always thought that was such the neatest thing i seen to recycle a used wore outish hack saw blade. im sure you can use a new one if you wanted to

I think Lowes is phasing out Irwin, I know they phased out Stanley/Fatmax. Lenox I am not sure but I love Lenox blades and some of their other tools look good.
That Middletown NY Lowes always has stuff on sale when other stores don't... I love that place! Their tool section is huge too! I too like Lenox stuff! Wish it was made here but I still like it! =) Thanks!!!!!!!!

Hopefully in a few years I can visite it myself (I am very interested in Tractor Supply too, When I was in the US, I think I've seen one/a few but was thinking it was all agricultural big machinery, wich on second tought I find very interesting aswell)
