Haruna Ikezawa, the voice provider of Macne Nana and Petit, at the time, was involved with a magazine related to Mac software, and wrote about in her column about the idea of a "VOCALOID-like voice for Mac", which later lead to the creation of the first version of Macne Nana and Petit ( Before their 2S voicebanks, Petit actually did not have an individual voice, rather, her voicebank was Nana's voicebank with a few less samples, and you could buy her for less than the regular Macne Nana product. As of her 2S, Macne Petit now has her own voice ). Despite being intended for GarageBand initially, they were more famous for being used in UTAU, as their voice files could be converted to .wav and used in UTAU - none of the Macne voicebanks were ever intended for UTAU though, until Macne Nana and Petit 2S, where while they still weren't entirely meant for UTAU, they had configuration files that allowed them to function in the software, without external configuration like before, so technically, they are UTAU voicebanks.... Some of them anyways; Nana, Petit, and Sasayaki ( And MAYBE Macne Coco Black? She had her voicebank updated eventually, but I'm not sure if it's supported in UTAU by default ), are the only ones who have voicebanks that support usage in UTAU, Macne Coco White and Macne Papa however, never got updates, and never got UTAU voicebanks by extension - in fact, you can't even buy Macne Papa anymore - they took him down because he was supposed to get an update, but he never got it for some reason. Macne Sasayaki ( Or her official name, Whisper Angel Sasayaki, which apparently character-wise, she's actually just Macne Petit, but now she's a magical girl or something ) was the last traditional Macne voicebank we've seen thus far, and in fact, was the last we saw of the Macne's for a while - that was until 2013. In October 2013, it was officially announced that Macne Nana would become a VOCALOID, as a means to promote VOCALOID NEO - a new version of VOCALOID3 that was compatible with Mac computers, by acting as a plugin for the software known as Cubase, which was compatible with Mac OS. Macne Nana V3 was later announced to be compatible with both Windows and Mac, and was reported to come with a Japanese and an English voicebank. She was released as a VOCALOID in March of 2014 as a VOCALOID SHOP exclusive by BPlats, aka, basically Yamaha themselves, who were also the developers of the VY series. Unfortunately, Macne Nana for VOCALOID3/NEO was not well received, as she sounds very little like her GarageBand equivalent, has an awkward raspiness in her voice, a very small vocal range, and her English voicebank had awful pronunciation. She did not sell very well as a VOCALOID sadly, and did not receive many originals either. Recently, we got an announcement that now, instead of BPlats operating the development and distribution of Macne Nana for VOCALOID, now AH Software ( Developers of Kaai Yuki, SF-A2 Miki, and Yuzuki Yukari ) will be handling her VOCALOID voicebanks. Earlier this year, it was announced Macne Nana's VOCALOID3 voicebanks will receive an update to VOCALOID4, and will also include a brand new Japanese voicebank for Macne Petit. This. bundle is to be known as Macne Nana Plus, and we actually just the other day got to see the concept art for Macne Nana Plus. As far as the other members of the Macne series receiving VOCALOID voicebanks, it's been stated that it's possible, however, it will likely require crowdfunding in order to do so.
