At 02:01:16, right after the start of the second race, on the very first upwind starboard course, Luna Rossa had the windward upper hand over Inneos by 12 meters, but instead of holding the starboard course for a bit longer (which would have had Inneos tacking to port and having to give Luna Rossa priority), inexplicably Luna Rossa was the one who tacked away first, positioning themselves leeward of Inneos on the starboard course. That was the key moment to the race.
@@ianemery8448 Both had to tack for boundary, Inneos was even closer to it. But had LR held the course a bit longer (which Inneos couldn't as they were on the verge of crossing the boundary), LR would have tacked after Inneos while keeping the windward upper hand. In my opinion, LR was probably too cocky, thinking that tacking on Inneo's leeward wouldn't make a difference as they (thought) would recover the windward advantage soon, which they didn't.
When a boat is close to the boundary, the rules changes slightly. Then INEOS would have been able to tack and had the right of way over Luna Rossa. This rule is to prevent a boat from pushing another out of the course.
wow!! great first race. Bruno is sooo calm: 'are we foiling?' And the Youth Final was great to watch, the italian team really _sailed_ the waves with minor steering and sail adjustments
It was worth mentioning that the Italians have never won the cup but for some reason it wasn't worth mentioning that the British has never won the cup.

These are some crazy winds to go sailing in. I would be staying on shore in 20 knots of wind, and that's with a displacement boat with a kiel, not a high performance boat with colossal sails like these.

I saw LR PP touch down, in tacking and she had to tack for boundary
