Hi @kevinsylvester770 - thanks for the Comment. Yeah ours was the "Golden Era" of BR and the multitude of locos that were designed, built and introduced at that time. I'm sure the current Hydrogen & Electric prototypes will mean this type of Large Shunting loco will serve well past their Centenary Celebration in 2035.

Hi @kevinsylvester770 - thanks for the Comment. Yeah our era was the "Golden Age" of BR when so many loco classes were designed, built and introduced onto the UK rail network. Like us many are still going but we've all got the "battle scars" to show !!! LOL 😂. I'm sure the current Hydrogen & Electric prototypes will mean this type of Large Shunting loco will serve well past their Centenary Celebration in 2035.

Thank you for a brilliant video. You must have done a massive amount of research on these shunting locomotives. I've driven 2 of them at Ilford and remember seeing them being exchanged from Stratford to Ilford for maintenance. It took ages at 15mph😂

@@keithsyers5833 Hi Keith - didn't keep a tab on how many hours I actually spent on the video but it spanned at least 8 weeks. I loved every minute even the painstaking cross-checking but I wanted this one to be as accurate as possible. TBF the quality of many of the images I was able to utilise I thinks makes it quite special.
Thanks again for taking the time to make your Commenr.

Hi Steve - no she's in there at 09:40 with a nice shot of her "on shed" in the late evening in all her glory. I'll email you a screenshot of the slide.
Thanks for taking the time to Comment and so glad you enjoyed the Video. I didn't keep a record of how many hours I put into this one but it took me approaching 8 weeks to complete.

Hi @chrisclarke7051 - thanks for the Comment. Couldn't agree more - quiet "back room" grafters of the UK rail network who have served (in their earliest D3/6 guise) since 1935 !!! I'm sure the current Hydrogen & Electric prototypes will mean this type of Large Shunting loco will serve well past their Centenary Celebration in 2035.

@@dave1966red HI again Dave, I have recently just retired from the Railway and I finished as a Shunt Driver with GBRF at Bescot. 08670 ( on hire from RSS) was employed there I moved 20 loaded Muscles from a standing start also 20 loaded Auto ballesters was not impossible for this loco to shunt. They have proved themselves and I have little doubt the hydrogen and Electric replacements will truely struggle to live up to the versatility of the humble 08.

hi. great video, some 08's in good condition others look a bit forlorn so someone needs a kick up the backside.why the clowns scrapped the cl 13 master and slave units i don't know, i expect diesel preservation was in its infancy then so no one thought of it

Hi @petersmith4455 - thanks for the Comment. Like a lot of things in UK rail modern history there are many things that confuse we "simple enthusiasts" but like you I believe the "sort-termism" that often blights decisions in our otherwise quite good country always seem to come back and bite us on the behind like the removal of the arterial end of the network in terms of branch lines and local smaller freight depots which means railfreight is limited to a "Bulk Only" solution. Ijust hope the current Hydrogen & Electric prototypes will mean this type of Large Shunting loco will serve well past their Centenary Celebration in 2035.
