    Thanks so much for explaining how to do the measurements Mary! I wondered how you work out the measurements you need for a box. So many demonstrators have show how to make boxes, but not how to work out the measurements! So helpful. TFS xx

    I don’t have an envelope punch board but I have a gift box punch board! I glued a paper tape measure to it and wrapped the excess few inches under to pull out for measuring when I need it. I downloaded the punch board envelope sizes from the internet and I was able to make envelopes and the boxes you showed in this video!

    Hi Mary, I am so thankful for finding your video. I was a Stampin Up Demo years and years ago. But because of personal and emotional reasons I left. I still have some card stock left and it's amazing how well it has held up. I also have many other products that I still use and love. I recently got back into making cards and with all the new products I've collected through the years it was easy to pick up where I left off. I do love the fact that I keep finding new methods of using them. I watched many videos, But yours was just easy I want to commend you and thank you again for CLEARLY explaining this, I'm hooked LOL! you have gain another subbie. THANK YOU THANK YOU. Lot of crafty hugz, Olga

    May I make a suggestion on a quick way to seal your boxes and keep them square. Ready? Find a small firm square object ( block of wood, dvd box, actual small jewelry box, paperback book, etc) that is the same measurement of the width you increased the envelope. ( You used 1 inch increments and suggested a 2 inch increment so that is the size object you will use.) Tuck that object into the corner and fold one side over it, square it up, fold the other side and VOILA'! a squared box corner. If the object is small enough you can use it on the other side as well. I hope I explained myself well enough.
    I thoroughly enjoyed your video, your video quality ( wonderful!) and especially your enthusiasm and willingness to share! Thanks again ...and I will be thinking on what to do with the scraps!
    Cheers

      +jeanette keys well, I was sure "someone" would figure out what to do with them, just saw this posting and missed it when I was looking for answers to Mary's challenge,--I just did a quick video showing how I used the bits (handpainted backside of scrapbook papers that I didn't particularly like) to add to earring cards to be used inside of all those boxes I made thanks to Mary's tip, I have posted all the still pictures of my project on Google+, and am now trying to upload a video putting it all together. I am sure others have figured out how to use these, but until I saw your posting, had not found any.

    just got a envelope punch board,anxious to use it to make boxes for my cards(I'm a photographer) and make my own photo cards. they are 5x7 cards so what sze paper and measurements do i use?...Thank you...

    • @MaryTrautner
      @MaryTrautner  10 лет назад

      The Measurements are on the punch board. The Card size is the first column so find 5 x 7 move to the next column the paper size and it will tell you what size for the envelope I believe it is 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 so if you want a box to hold 4 to 5 cards you add an inch so you will need a paper 10 1/2 x 10 1/2. Then score and punch at 4 and add how much you also increased your paper size for so also score and punch at 5. Turn a quarter of a turn and score and punch on both score lines all the way around.

    Mary, I am trying to make a box envelope for a card that is 6 x 6" i cut 9.5 x 9.5 card stock and scored @ 3 3.4 and 4 3/4" the box envelope came out at 6 x 4 3/4" it was to short can you help x

    • @MaryTrautner
      @MaryTrautner  8 лет назад

      +Rachael22Jane First off just an envelope calls for 9 1/4 square so if you want a box 1 Thick you must start out with a piece 10 1/4 square. Side one score Punch at 4 3/4 and 5 3/4 turn a half turn to side three and score and punch at 4 3/4 and 5 3/4 turn a quarter turn to side 4 and score and punch on the lines you have already scored on turn a half turn and score and punch again on the lines you have already scored

    can you please tell me how I can make an envelope for a 8x8 card with this board

    • @MaryTrautner
      @MaryTrautner  10 лет назад

      Janet. I find for a card that large the Simply Scored tool would be better. You take a 12 x 12 piece of Designer Series paper and with the Diagonal Plate you score at 5 3/4 all the way around cut out the little triangles and fold. On he envelope punch board it is hard to measure to 5 3/4 and it should be 5 3/4 all the way around you have to measure each one or I ran into it not fitting. In fact I think 6 all the way around was better but I don't know if that was just because I couldn't get an accurate measurement or not.

    Mary, this is a wonderful instructional video. I have two questions that I THINK I already know the answer to but wanted to confirm.
    If I only need the box to be 1/2" thick, then I'd only had 1/2" to my measurement, correct?
    And for an A2 size card if I want my box to be 1/4" larger all around so it's not a snug fit, then I would add 1/4" inch to the 4.25" x 5.5". Is that also correct? (Then add my 1/2" for the depth?). I hope I explained that all correctly.
    Thanks!

    Can you make a video showing how you make a box for a 6th card and a 5.5x5.5 box? Thanks

      just take the measurements you will need to make the envelope and just add how much you will need to make it Measure how much 6 cards are and add that as the increase.
