Just did an inspection on a new build the other day with LP smart side engineered wood siding. Unfortunately the cut ends are often missed (especially ripped cuts at roof wall intersections) and horizontal trims are not flashed, missing backer rod and sealant when abutting masonry etc… Though these things may be considered minor, they do have a potential to allow moisture intrusion overtime. We all make mistakes (I do all the time) that’s why it it’s important to have even new homes inspected to protect your long term investment!
