The LP6 basic manual and Kali developers are very clear about this and insist that you should not use them horizontally like the other models. You probably know this by now.

For the price it's a good comparison however the HS7 are the actual correct comparison for size and power. Also not having good definition in panning can be a problem for mixing I dont want every to sound like its comming from centre as you describe the Kila.
I wonder if your getting more of a centered sound with the Kali's because they are more at ear level and they have wider sound space. The Yamaha is more directional.
In my opinion, use for mixing (panning/gain/effetct/EQ) a close system without a colored bassport (HS5) and for the master (radio/eind mix etc) a LP6. If you only listening to masters, the Lp6 (straight positie) do a great job
I’m stuck bc I like the Yahama’s, but the I hear Adam, Kali, KRK and it makes the Yamaha sound toyish. This is like the 10th time I heard someone say that the Yamaha’s sound like an old radio. So i’m thinking that’s probably accurate. However, I believe the Yamaha’s are meant to be used with a subwoofer. And u could always EQ down the highs on the Yamaha but can EQ up the Kali highs only so much.
I haven't seen the HS5 in reality but the A/B comparisons here on RUclips (listened over realtively flat headphones of mine) instantly make me really hate the HS5s. They sound harsh and resonant and they lack low range. For their price I think they are absolutely ridiculous. I think this is a clear case of overhype. They look much more aesthetic but that's about it.
How Kali makes their speakers sound full is by reducing the size of the cone in the woofer speaker. This allows for less vibration of the woofer keeping the bass tight, to allowing more mid-range sound to produce through the woofer.

The HS-5’s are fine, but the kali used modern tech in its creation. I got the Kali LP-6’s, and I couldn’t be happier with their clarity.

Like the other people commented, putting the LP6 on its side ruins the effect of the wave guide on the speaker.

off axis tweets will cause phasing issues and changes the freqs a little can you do the vid again with them up?

What about Kali Lp8 v2 vs Yamaha hs8 ?
To many add breaks with 8, you might want to reduce that because it's high annoying.
