Bonus tip: limit your caffeine intake when shooting handheld.
Facts!
But where's the fun in that
Thank you and apreciate the time you spent on this!
Really helpful and transparent take! Definitely love the feel of handheld shots, great video 🔥
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the advice 👍🙏
With shooting low and close how do you view your monitor/viewfinder? Seems like adding a larger display adds to the bulk, weight, and instability of the rig
Thanks. I use an Combo offer handheld and some gimbal stuff (weddings) . My handheld rig has rails so the rails can Tuch my chests it works for me. Of course I haven’t quick release plate’s to change from handheld to Monopod or gimbal
Well done sir. Well done.
The biggest draw back with any gear is 'set-up-time' using it when it's up and running is the fun part. Setting it up and stripping it down is the frustrating downside. I'm getting a little older these days and walking around doing hand held is a bit of a chore for me at this point. I have a sturdy heavy tripod and generally I find the shot hand held and then set up the tripod. That way I can do lots of takes and not get worn out. The tripod takes no setting up. I don't use a camera cage but I do have a top handle. If I can I try not to use a monitor. All of my gear bar the tripod itself goes in a single bag.
love the video! few questions. is it better to place my top handle so its over the lens or coming out towards the user? and do you have any tips with incorperating the strap that goes around the neck? thank you
I personally use it not over the lens - purely because I don’t want to accidentally hit the lens with that grip hand! Having a strap is a great way of also stabilizing your footage, keeping it with tension against your neck while you shoot adds another point of contact which stabilizes it further!
Hey man. Awesome video! I recently started my football videography journey. I picked up the Sony ZV-E10 to get started and right now I'm shooting handheld! Awesome tips, I'll definitely be watching some more of your videos! One question I have is, I am currently using the 16-50 f 3.5-5.6 kit lens for my videos. Should I go ahead and upgrade to the f4 70-200 or similar lens or wait on lens upgrades until further down the road? Feel free to take a look at my work on my channel if you want to!
Hunter. Check out the tamron 70-180mm. It’s f2.8 fixed across all focal lengths. It’s kind of like the poor man’s sony telephoto lens. It’s great for sports.
is the wooden more comfortable ? I’ve never used any handle so wanted to know if the wood is worth it
Hockey at Fenway? Wow
Literally paused the video and bought a top handle
In todays world, Vertical is huge, i shoot Vertical, so why don't you do a Vertical Video Tips on Hand Held.
I’d honestly assume it’s the same tbh
It all applies in the same way - but I hardly shoot vertical unless the client specifically asks for it! While vertical is a big deal, I’ll still shoot 16x9 and crop for social unless the final delivery doesn’t ask for that. Shooting vertical all the time is a no go for me for now.
@@JuanMoralesCreative Ok i hear ya, i did the crop way early on when i started but just shoot vertically now, kinda got used to it somehow, ok Thank you
I will never understand people filming basketball with gimballs ...
How do you feel about it used for Futbol?
talk too fast
I tore my acl and the smooth walk it’s kinda hard now hahah my leg become really shaky with slow and sustain movements. Before this my takes looked like they was done with gimball 🫠🫠
