As an RV mechanic I can definitely admit scraping any type of lap sealant that's worn out can be really tough, although a few ways I've gone about it is by using a strong solvent to soften up the sealant to slice off or scrape off, such as "acrysol", that solvent is excellent at cleaning off any type of sealant and is pretty safe on automotive paint, however it can make decal color/paint fade easily if you go liberal with the amount you use. Next time you have to reseal your roof, consider a solvent like acrysol or something else like it, I know Lawson produces that stuff or just sells it, I also use flat bar scrapers for this kind of thing, a normal caulking gun, and thin bristle paint brushes to smooth over new sealant applied to let it sink in where it needs to go on a roof, such as lap sealant.

Unfortunately, not this stuff. It was so hard and dry. Maybe if it were newer?
