I think I've run out of tips for now, the apprentice has become the master. Also, shadows look like that is space because there is no atmosphere to diffuse the light, which is what softens the edge of shadows. So in space you get those really sharp dark and light lines.
Whenever I build on asteroids it is almost always a shipyard for large grid ships that don't function in atmosphere. With that in mind, I typically find a large rock that has an adequate ice deposit either on it or nearby, as well as a nice view. Shape is less of an issue since by the time I get to the point of needing such a base, I'm well equipped with mining vessels with which I can bore out the rock however I need. It's a challenging kind of build to make, but it's a lot of fun and very rewarding.
When you load your world next time you can edit settings and un-check the auto respawn in nearest survival kit. That gives you the option to clone yourself at any medical facility. That's what I do especially starting a new game when I am looking for a decent starting location, while also exploiting GPS cards just a little lol.
You can add credits back to your account, if you wanted to have them back anyway. I forget exactly how to do it though. It's fairly easy so if you decide you want them back I can figure it out and comment back here.
@@kahvozeinsfang6953 hey thanks! someone else mentioned you can add them in admin mode somehow. I’m going to think about it and will look it up if I decide to. I did grind a long time for those credits…
There’s an F10 or F11 menu that lets you spawn items, you can use that to spawn a pack of space credits worth 70million. I think you might need to hold shift control or alt to access the menu but it should have a list of all possible components resources and items.
I made a base on an asteroid that had a nice flat spot, tunnels and gold. Honestly, the flat spot is what sold me. It was also not too far from the planet.
Yeeesss been waiting for your next loving it. Just a suggestion but maybe put your drills on pistons so you could drill deeper (that's what she said). lmao
ShiftyShadow is the guy with the video about timers on survival kits. I do the same thing. If you're doing a small grid only playthrough it's the best way to move around between your ships and bases since you don't have a small jump drive (or atleast not before the prototech update).
Regarding the start of the new base and the "Private Cargo" ship, use the ship as the upper part of a solar array custom turret for the future base/station. Fix up those solar panels and there you go. I also think once you find a small grid jump drive you should build an interceptor to give the Factorum a real run for their money.
lol I did the exact same thing. Copied my two small bases and my ship and pasted em into a new world. The worlds are the same, the gps works you just have to manually create them. I screenshotted the gps points X Y and Z coords and created new then manually entered values. Even the ores are in the same location.
When I last played they had just added meteors so I'd look for an asteroid that had an opening that didn't face the sun. If I can get back into it (ideally not solo but also not a rando PvP server) I'd love to find/repair a free floating space station. Regardless of where you build though each base should have a mandatory exposed bathroom (ideally the highest vantage that's in the sunlight lol). Oh and don't forget to build and or buy/modify a Bertha Bob.
@@SurvivalBobGaming It's a shame speed mods seem to be all out of date and break the game. Otherwise I'd say make a small "scout" ship with a long snout with a "bumper" on the tip. I've just been looking on the mod page and I've learnt it can do things even I didn't know about 😁Additional (settable) fuel low warnings for jetpack, jetpack align-to-gravity after a predetermined delay. I checked your modlist and I see you like to keep them to a minimum but let's face it, automatic helmet closure isn't as OP as 'Hostile Takeover' (I love that mod by the way) 🤣 I love the idea of a restarted playthrough for the Contact update, I did pretty much the same thing only I used 'Star System Generator' to create a random system of 25 (modded) bodies, plenty of places for the Factorum to hide lol.
I thought they become hostile oce I started grinding the door. You’re gonna me me shot now trying to test that. Lol I do like the mod idea. I’ll have a look at that one. Thanks!
Whenever we build asteroid Bases, it's almost always about the resources, like, I want Uranium and Ice Nearby if im building a ship, and I would love to have a station nearby too or it being near a planetary body like the moon for the ease of finding stations.
I only play solo with mods and my asteroid bases are either small outposts to act as radio relays or as close to the edge of gravity as possible (the one you found and abandoned would be like a wet dream for me) which reduces requirements to reach it from the planet it's above but is either the lowest possible gravity or 0g for ease of building.
I thought about that afterwards when I played it back during the edit. But, knowing my luck a ship would fall and crash down to earth when I wasn’t looking 😆
@SurvivalBobGaming you definitely have to pay attention to where you're doing things. Lol. Paranoia means anything I work on is attached to something. And everything is parked on connectors when not in use.
If you have that old save set aside you can transfer the GPS coordinates over to this one the deposits May slightly change but there will be deposits in those locations those locations are set unless they are asteroids also if you go into the controls administrator controls you can add in funds by going to economy
Also on your prospector if you tear down the glass and the unbuilt corridor when you open the double doors and then put a curved piece of glass facing down you'll create an airtight barrier there which will prevent you from venting atmosphere every time you open those double doors it's a weird mechanic but the glass blocks especially the curved ones are considered airtight
So if you are in Admin Mode you can scroll down to economy and give you back the money you lost if that is what you wanted. I also did a fresh start and copied my grids over because I didn't want to restart the whole thing. But I only gave myself 1 mil cR and some of the basics I would need for a jumpstart.

It may feel like cheating but the build and repair unit mod will let you grind down ships without a penalty to rep, you can set paramiters for ot to only grind/hack what you want aswell, or set it to walk mode and have it only do base upkeep as not to make it too op. Also for factions you have 500-1500 rep to play with before they are hostile, alternitivly if you do quests you gain rep for that fation and can become allied and get a discount with them, you can also eventually get allied with space pirates from being a pirate lets you go onto sprt stations and check out their ships and etc with nocworry they will be buddies
