Liepāja is a nice city for tourists. I've visited it some years ago. It is not so crowded as Rīga. There are many interesting (old) buildings, parks, Karosta etc. The beaches and dunes are quite near. Regrettably there are also remnants of Russian colonialism.

Yeah I'm also Polish. Actually in have some Lithuanians in my family, but that's quite common in Poland.
I've read about demographic crisis in Latvia. It looks really amazing if you consider high economic growth(other Central or Eastern European countries are not rich too, but population isn't decreasing so fast).
It looks like in Liepaja the number of russians, ukrianians etc. is decreasing very fast,
I recognize most of the places. Yay for me! ^_^

I've read that this petition to Abrahamowicz, Russian millioner was signed by 720 persons . I was very suprised as till that moment in Poland there was opinion that Latvia tries to be independent country and doesn't want to be matched with Russia any longer...But this news...it make everybody really surprised.

Oh, yes, of course I haven't thought of it! They should be Russian surely. But nowadays in Latvia Russians can influence politics and mer of Riga is from Russia. I have heard that he refused to add "s" at the end of his surname

I have seen in Polish newspaper very strange news. Is it true that Latvian people want to sell Latvia? I have read that they want to sell Latvia for 7,5 mld dollars to cash-rich buisnessman from Russia. Is it really true?

In Poland at least we don't have Russians from Asian steps. And we don't tolerate Communists symbols too(last Russian provocation EURO2012).
It was planned genocide - destroy nation by hordes from the East. It's true.
I wanted to visit Liepaja. But I'm also interested in Latvian mythology. I've some Latvian book. Latvian isn't that difficult as some people say. That's my first impression.
Maybe you can say about some folk/pagan festivals in Latvia, if you know sth of course.
