The Baltic region is truly a hidden gem! Latvia's combination of Gothic and Art Deco architecture, beautiful nature and vibrant cultural life make it a must-see travel destination.
It would be behind Daugavpils and Bauska IMHO, and on par with Jekabpils. If you are ready to visit a nice unvisited place Aizpute would also beat Aluksne. Still a good offer, among top 15 towns, if we do it this way and separate Kemeri national park from Jurmala, as the visitor's center IS in Jurmala.
I will be driving there next week from Northern Norway, and this was a very helpful video when it comes to selecting where to go and what to see. Thanks :)

Like kemeri national park or “Ieriķu dzirnavas”, or “Cecīlijas taka” if you like walks and nature:) also Tērvete nature park is a nice place with many options what to do:)

Aglona is actually located in the South-East, not North-East and best combined with a visit to Daugavpils. Generally a good overview, but I wouldn't put Jelgava in this top, since much of the city was destroyed during WW2. Instead I would go for places like Ventspils, Talsi, Līgatne, Limbaži.
Talsi is a bit boring. Limbaži lacks something. Ventspils too. Līgatne is one of the greatest places in Latvia, but I've managed to find no way there but canoe.
I wish that Latvian study at least 100 languages in schools and universities and watch or hear tv as well as broadcast series, movies and plays from every country in the world in original languages before dubbing or translation in order to be closer to other cultures and languages

Do not go to Latvia for seaside tourism!!!. Latvian police set traps for unsuspecting tourists and issue fines from 100 to 1000 euros for violations of the "protected zone", although there are no boundaries from where to it, no signs and information boards that it is a protected zone.
Latvia is a dangerous country for tourists. On the coast, tourists are hunted by the police and fines from 100 to 1000 euros are imposed for violations of protected areas. I recommend choosing the coasts of Estonia and Poland, it is safer there.
