What a fight Machačev vs Poireier was. I think one of the best fights ever. Top of the top fighters with a mix of emotions to both sides. Machačev is the best, the final boss of the game to beat, and I always follow him. Him and his team are always fantastic. I think just Machačev had some problems, maybe the weighting cut was something tough, and he didn’t recover well. But no matter what, he always wins. But Poirier, wow. It’s incredible how he matured as person and as fighter through the years, in this fight he had the light in his eyes. He was there just to his best, period. Confident and very focused. How he handled Machačev was crazy. At this point no belts are important to Poirier, even if he has it or none, he will be forever be a legend of the UFC. Congratulations!

I don’t think he was tired man. It’s just a complete difference in fighting style. I just think we don’t know how good khabib really was until he retired. Khabib always shot the foot and that allowed him to be flawless. Couldn’t be touched. Also the way he understood fighters weight , and was able to place it everywhere was why people were so ragdolled by him. Tonight showed Islam is a completely different fighter. He likes to fight on his feet. Khabib was getting mad at that. He doesn’t just grapple. I know khabib was a dominant striker too, but islam is just a more well rounded fighter. But grappling and wrestling , nowhere near khabib. But that submission in the end was insane.
Khabib is more patient. He dont rush to gas out for submission instead of press the opps, smashing on the ground, drain opps battery. When he decided to do submission, its just happened. Thats why he never get brush like Islam.
khabib was about 5 levels above everyone else. cardio, chin, ground n pound, does submissions when he chooses not when he's given an opportunity. if khabib really wanted to finish any fighter in 3 minutes, he could do it. he chose to prolong many of his fights.

Machačev is the best, the final boss of the game to beat, and I always follow him. Him and his team are always fantastic. I think just Machačev had some problems, maybe the weighting cut was something tough, and he didn’t recover well. But no matter what, he always wins.
But Poirier, wow. It’s incredible how he matured as person and as fighter through the years, in this fight he had the light in his eyes. He was there just to his best, period. Confident and very focused.
How he handled Machačev was crazy.

I think he deserves to be p4p king but don’t think he will match khabib’s dominance simply because of his gas tank. Being a huge fan of khabib and Islam I have accepted Islam as a completely separate fighter to khabib and won’t have the same expectations anymore. Khabib was nothing but mauling his smaller and inferior opponents on the ground. I mean look at Khabib in retirement. I doubt he could make 170 now without at least 3 months notice. He's way over 200 pounds as a coach.

I don’t think he was tired man. It’s just a complete difference in fighting style. I just think we don’t know how good khabib really was until he retired. Khabib always shot the foot and that allowed him to be flawless. Couldn’t be touched. Also the way he understood fighters weight , and was able to place it everywhere was why people were so ragdolled by him. Tonight showed Islam is a completely different fighter. He likes to fight on his feet. Khabib was getting mad at that. He doesn’t just grapple. I know khabib was a dominant striker too, but islam is just a more well rounded fighter. But grappling and wrestling , nowhere near khabib. But that submission in the end was insane.

This fight with Porier showed that Islam isnt close to Khabib. He has been hurt and lost rounds while Khabib was never even cut.
Khabib is more patient. He dont rush to gas out for submission instead of press the opps, smashing on the ground, drain opps battery. When he decided to do submission, its just happened. Thats why he never get brush like Islam.

I was rooting for Dustin, and he showed out, but man, Islam is a special fighter. It's so impressive how he's carved out his own lane from Khabib. He may not be as heavy on top with ground and pound, but his hands are far more natural in the standup, and his trips/submissions are so slick. Much respect, that ankle pick was so clean.

Cost was 214 against Romero and 215 against Whittaker. Alex Pereira stepped into a middleweight bout at 219 pounds before he even fought for the title and he overcut by 2 pounds coming in at 184. Sit down kid at no point has Dustin been bigger than Islam and it didn't start tonight.
