I hope you don't gloss over Wight Kings this week. GW had mentioned when revealing the new one that they are actually rather independent with their own societies of skeletons (tangent: interesting narrative fuel to fight against OBR) that ally with Vampires rather than being outright controlled by them.
That reminds me of a very old Warhammer Fantasy short story that went into detail about the Skeletons attacking some village, with the Skellies speaking, having individuality, and having fun fighting, if I recall correctly. A bit wacky, but still, sapient skeletons.
@@Gangrel442003 He was the first Blood Dragon Vampire that spawned the blood dragon vampire bloodline. The first to cure his thirst via drinking the blood of a giant ancient dragon.
I love how the lore is reflected in their army mechancics, too. You really feel like a nexus of necromantic power when you're constantly bringing back your own units and bolstering the existing ones just by being there.
@@travis54050 Their price doesn't incrementally go up on the GW site as their supply dwindles though. You want to talk someone buying them from GW, then turning around and re-selling on ebay with a 20% markup- go for it. That's not what I'm getting at here.
Glad to see that theyre bringing this faction back, even if it is a shadow of its former self. Theyve reduced the number of bloodlines and swapped fan favorite characters for brand new ones, presumably to then sell more books about these new characters. Regardless its a long overdue addition.
So the lore for the Nighthaunt Black Coach is that there's a dead vampire in there that the forces kinda coalesce around and the killing helps build that power. That power then in turn can empower other undead (lorewise I think). Pretty good example of them being a well of power.
He sort of does. As a hermit living on a mountain who trains vampires if Neferata badgers him about it enough (other can probably get that result too).

I REALLY hope we get some lore or Kritza, the Rat Prince because he is absolutely my favorite character we've seen so far. So freaky and unsettling
Hi, does new battle tome explain, what happened to Nagash after BR:Teclis? Did he just reconstitute himself in Shyish or is it gonna take some time? I guess that he is ok, since we can use his model in game
This is amazing I love vampires in warhammer. Stormcast, realm lords and now vampires and thinking about OBR...I should find better job if I want to continue with this :D
You said early on in the video that all vampires trace their lineage back to the 3 original vampires, does that still count for the vyrkos? Because from what I read they have descended from a God beast
Does anyone feel this would be good army for new players because I want to get into AOS and I like death armies but I don't know who would be better for a new player
Just go for whatever army (or armies) you like the best! Sure, some might be more beginner friendly than others, but once you play a few games and get the rules memorized, any army can be good for beginners in my opinion.
Can someone be born a Soulblight Vampire or he/she has to be bitten to become a vampire?? I remember a year ago I read a short story of Neferata either Obsidian or The Dance of the Skulls and there was writen that a Vampire Lord had a daughter but waited for her adulthood to turn her into a vampire. That's what I remember or I got it wrong and was twisted by my old rusty 32 yeear old mind :P
My understanding of the current lore is that you have to be transformed into a Soulblight Vampire, usually by the Blood Kiss but sometimes also by extremely powerful magic. That applies to the vampires descended from Neferata and Mannfred and to the Ghoul Kings anyway - we don't yet know how the Vyrkos Soulblight Curse works since they are descended from a godbeast, not the power of Nagash directly. So far as I know, there are no 'dhampirs' or half vampire characters in Warhammer lore, either Old World or Age of Sigmar. Most vampires seem to be either infertile or with extremely low fertility, and many seem to be more interested in feeding than in sex. On that basis, I assume that a vampire who for some reason did either father or child or got pregnant somehow would give birth to a mortal child that could later be turned but wouldn't become a Soulblight creature without some kind of intervention. Then again, this whole area of the lore is so limited and only very marginally explored that GW could change it at any time. They may yet plan to bring half vampires into the Age of Sigmar lore at some point, or they might decide that, being Undead, vampires simply can neither father nor bear children. For myself, I quite like the idea of the Order of Azyr secretly making use of half vampires they have found or kidnapped as infants (or taken as newborns from their mortal mothers), indoctrinating them to be used as weapons against the Soulblight and other Undead and Chaos tainted creatures. It would be a dirty secret of the Order that is kept under wraps and never acknowledged to anyone outside the Order membership itself, since what kind or order of holy warriors feels the need to use creatures tainted by the Soulblight Curse to win its wars against the Undead and other forces of darkness? Does that not imply a lack of confidence in faith in Sigmar alone being enough? Brainwashed, half Undead child soldiers is also a suitably grimdark image for one of the grubbier and more morally questionable corners of the Forces of Order.
Why does every faction have to have some kind of mindless brainless trait instead of being thinking and feeling people with interests and desires that makes them complex and allow for narrative when making an army? Just make an army of lawn mowers all going the same direction at once.
They are missing Abhorash as a Mortarch. Blood Dragons are by far the coolest vampires in any setting. The Blood Knights in the current Sigmar setting need Abhorash as their founding bloodline. It would give a true melee bad ass vampire lord finally for Soulblights and an awesome new model as well on the table.
Good content but you need to spend a lot less time explaining what you're going to explain and what you're not gonna explain and why you won't explain it...
I, too, am very excited for the return of true vampire counts. It is one of my favorite old world aesthetics that works so well for Age of Sigmar.
Always good to see a new 2+ tough video. Good you are feeling better now. Looking forward to your Conquest videos in the coming week.

Wot
This is awesome
The black coach uses an entombed vampire as its power source, just like a mortis engine uses a dead necromancer. The well of power can be tapped
I hope they don't just forget about Abhorash like they did in the Old World. Dude deserves his own model by now.
That's the one who founded the Blood Dragons correct?

I will running a pure vampire knight army called the knights of nagash. A templar vampire version

There are 5 bloodlines in this book (6 playable in total if you count Flesh Eaters). And there were only ever 5 playable in Fantasy.

Abhorash is honestly more responsible for the kastelai even if he doesn't exist in the mortal realms atm.

Thank you for your work mate.
Starting Monday off right!!! 🙌
And now we need a Vampire Jack opening in RR1
Just ordered the book and 2 boxes of models for these 👍🏻

I like to think any self respecting Soulblight Vampire would murder a sparkly little arsehat like Edward on sight just on general principles.
Why they gotta do Neferata like that? Minimizing or deleting her role as the progenitor of Vampires entirely. Lame.
