Wind vortexes formed due to extreme heat as Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupted on Wednesday, June 7. "Scientists watch as hot, rapidly swirling air grabs & flings pieces of fresh lava during the first day of the eruption in Halemaʻumaʻu crater (#Kilauea)," the U.S. Geological Survey described in a tweet.
