I usually have a SiS Rego shake after a moderate to hard workout. I also prioritize sleep; often my work lunch breaks are naps!

I'm glad I brought a smile to your face, it's something that's a rather silly habit.

I'd be interested in post-workout stretch routines.
Plus, would you recommend a daily core / upper body routine for conditioning? I love the HIIT videos, but I'd love to have an exercise routine which I could just do each morning / evening out of habit which gave a basic level of conditioning. Just doing the odd workout video just isn't enough, because it is something I'll 'occasionally' do, and it's not regular or consistent enough (and I don't really know what regular or consistent looks like, anyway).
Thanks and great stuff, GTN :)

Be interesting to hear your thoughts on creatine for recovery purposes. And if you find it offers performance enhancements during sprint finishes etc.
There's plenty studies on it for resistance training. But very little for cycling, sprinting etc.

i used to find Creatine really good for recovery and noticed a significant difference when not taking. However i weened myself off of the stuff because i felt it was more organic to try and maintain a sustainable workout plan and recover with good food and lots of water and rest

La sièste...a short nap of 20 minutes an hour or two after a training session. I am an older athlete and we found that the nap helps a lot!

I think like others, not so good at the recovery, I have focus on stretching more after a run or ride, and have started to look at nutrition. Thanks for the great advice!

For insomniacs like me, there's nothing 'easy' about sleep. It's the hardest part of training- and life- for me! Eating, however... there's never a time I can't eat, including during a long run. Lol

1000% Kelly, nothing worse than knowing i have had a huge session that day, and then as soon as i think about needing to get a big sleep in, i know it wont happen! its almost like im able to trick my mind into not letting me get the sleep my body needs

Pro tip: wear your gtn shirt when going to bed like the presenters do. It helps you recover more quickly. Seriously tho what I do is after a run use the warmed up muscles to do 1-2 reps of 4-5 excercises that help me tackle my muscular disbalances (hamstrings, hip flexor, rotator cuff, neck muscles). After that I shower and then I stretch/foam roll. And it seems the 4-5 excercises help me to keep on going since before - when I did not do them - i developed one or two niggles.

We've covered basic outlines on how to train for an Ironman on GTN. I think there are many generic programmes to chose from elsewhere but not used one myself.
