Boat Fuel Gauge Troubleshooting!!!

We have to tear out our entire rotten stern deck and I plan to follow your vids to fix or preempt this issue while I have the access

While you have the stern deck out, that would be the time to change out your fuel sending unit the style that I used is a little bit more difficult because of the stern deck was still in place, but they make a fuel sending unit that is straight up and down without the style that I used much easier to install that you will be able to replace since you were removing your stern deck I would do it at that time

yeah, so odd my boat has the same fuel gauge issue
Starboard is ok
Port no reading
Also noticed the port tank is plumbed right to the carb... no filter
going to get disposables for the 3 day trip to our home marina to haul out.. plan to install proper filters and water separate systems then... starboard still has the original weird looking fuel filter.. have not looked at it closely yet
All Gauges (top and bottom helms ) are new aftermarket installed in about 2016-2018 by previous owner

I have a water separator/filter base coming straight from the tank and then in between the carburetor and the water separator I have an additional in-line filter the ones in the carburetors I have already removed. You might want to check to see if yours are still in there, they screw right into the side of the carburetor bowl.

Hi , i tried to wire the analog and digital fuel gauges on the same sending unit , but never got them to work toguether, only 1 of them would read right, do i need some kind of device to do this ??

The old gauge reads from ohms, the digital one from ohms too, but it could be a different range of ohms to operate. I ran into this on a Jeep I had once gauge had to read certain range of ohms to work correctly. I had to get a different gauge to match up with sending unit ohms scale. Hope that makes sense.
