Hey Stacey, so that piece is a windsock. You may have seen them at airports before. You can use the lines on it to figure out how strong the wind is based on how much the sock is pointing, and it will rotate to the direction of the wind! Useful for those super pesky crosswinds that affect Lego towns… 😂
Hi Stacey, great review and breakdown, thank you. Just got this set myself to kick off my own vintage collection. I got it for quite a good price, albeit with a few small missing pieces that I can easily replace. I need to replace the pilot torso, as all of the print has been lost and I need to get a new sticker sheet. Really happy with the set at the moment, but will be so much happier with it once I get the replacements. As a side note - I worked in a toy shop when this set was released in 1985, and was always quite impressed with the yellow terminal building. Wasn't a collector or builder at the time though. Looking forward to seeing more content.
I absolutely love this era of Lego! I just found a haul containing parts of 6539 Victory Cup Racers, 6484 F1 Hauler (missing most of the electronics), 6544 Shuttle Transcon 2, and some others. I've already placed a few BL orders to get these sets completed. Stacey, it's clear that these sets mean a lot to you. You are always more excited and animated when talking about these classic sets!
This set was inside of a recent bulk buy of mine! Missing a few stickers though :/ such as the "LL-BELL" ones, but most of the pieces are there so far, and all of the baseplates are there too! The haul also came with that set 250 book, and a full sticker sheet inside!
Wow -- this was one of the first real Lego sets I ever got as a kid, or at least that I remember distinctly -- at age 5 or 6! What a great memory of that :) And it was a great set for its time!
This is a great set and great review. I think it’s cool how even the 4-stud planes still fit with other later passenger craft giving this sort of a ‘regional airport’ feel. Besides, if you have been to a real airport lately, the variations in aircraft size is fascinating. I’d like to eventually get this and get A LOT of baseplates to make a taxiway and longer runway. The dark gray baseplates may actually work well because real airports also have different materials for taxiways and runway.
In modern builds they could easily pass off as small private jets or something along those lines, they can't compare to any commercial passenger liner sets though
I had this set as a kid. I hated how the engines didn't want to stick to the bottom side of the wings. They were always falling off. Regarding the thing about stickers being applied over multiple bricks; I heard BrickTsar refer to this as "sticker over assembly" or just "stickered assembly". It is considered bad practice now and Lego doesn't do it anymore but it does make completing those old sets interesting. For my Death Star II the only sticker for the set is over top of an assembly of 14 pieces, none of which can be removed without damaging the sticker.

My first big set. Great play value, pieces, plates. The best planes. Hope you get the complimentary plane that came out the same time.
Do you know the set number or set name?
@@ForBricksandGiggles set 6368
I'd love to get my hands on that set. I think I have the plane and I belive I found a couple of baseplates from a con vendor.
Impressive! That's pretty cool how you were able to acquire that missing sticker the way you did. Thank you for sharing with us how you did that..!
Always happy to share tips when I can! Thanks for watching!

I think all lego stickers should be a print
agreed!
