I do like how predictable the evil biomes are in this mode. GetFixedBoi is very much a true test of game knowledge. It gives you an insane amount of Evil Biomes and then tells you to find some way around it. Luck only occasionally affects it
Honestly when I did my playthrough on getfixedboi I just didn’t do any purification with the world, it seems unnecessary with how the world is practically doomed to begin with. Still, good job on creating an interesting video on how you possibly could control the world evil, takes dedication.
In my Don't Dig Up playthrough I made a long stripe that contains the true surface with the digging molecart (no honey layer) and added a layer of chloro bricks for good measure, I also learned that chloro bricks spread chlrophyte ore to nearby blocks

Large world are way to boring for me due to how slow is the phase in pre hardmode and small worlds end up making me rush the entire game, so medium size is my go to... Great video man keep it going
2:21 I always found medium to be the best balanced worldgen, since small worlds regularly harass you with harpies/wyverns just simply by going up some of the steeper hills and large worlds are too tedious for travel and progression without the number of players to warrant needing the substantially increased world size. Medium is just usually the best for singleplayer
i always play large, i dont think ive every once played a medium world, and the only small world ive played was back on mobile when that was the largest size you could make
Maybe i just got lucky, but i beat the entire seed and never once bothered to contain any biomes, the worst that happened was my desert pylon getting ruined and thats about it
In my multiplayer playthrough with my friends, we spent a LOT of time just AFK. The evil spread only bothered us with the desert pylon as well, it never got close to our base or jungle.
Great video! Will probably follow this exact advice in a future run of that seed. One thing that came to mind (sorry for the unsolicited advice), saying something is "not hard" when teaching people thing tends to diminish your lesson. If someone is intimidated by something, or was previously struggling, it can make them feel defensive or stupid (consciously or not). When professionally training people, rather than say something is "not hard" I'd say it's "not complex", as a LOT of the time (this video subject included) people struggle with things because they're making it overly complex. And even if something IS somewhat complex, saying that and laying out all the parts of it in a simple way still works!
Add the fact that mining takes only half of your time in terms of quarantining the evil biomes since the For the Worthy effect of cutting every blocks HP (the amount of hits needed to break a block) by half is applied as well.
Quite shame i cant enjoy those luxuries on my dont dig up world i Adore and must spend the purgatory sentence of making artifitial barrier, but hey Digging Molecart digs much faster than mere pickaxe.
There is one way the evil can get in that you missed; if the evil on the jungle side has already infected part of the jungle during world generation, the hallow won't cover it.
when i played this world i actually purified a big part on the surface by manually mining the blocks, blowing blocks up, and shimmering some powder, re colonising a part of the surface was great fun
I never thought it's this easy. Containing the evil biome is pretty much 100% needed for me as I take my time while in hardmode, so it would probably corrupt the whole world until I even reach golem.
In normal worlds, I like quarantining the world evil (including Hallowed) to prevent the spread, especially on the surface, and my future self really thanked my past self for that. I was not worried about the world evil spreading at all, even if it was happening underground and building NPC houses was a more convenient task.
Alternatively, you could also be a gigachad and just make damn-near the entire world a hollow biome so you don't have to fret over world evils to begin with.

Also while 1.4 prevents evil from spawning in the jungle a lot of my worlds have the evil right next to it anyway so the dynamite helps there too.

Having the same issue, it's always the crimson. Corruption rips my face off immediately with that damn worm, but the crimson is taking the opportunity to beeline for all the important stuff
The Getfixedboi main terrain generation is also in dontdigup. So the same applies to Dontdigup, its just that purifying evils outside of rather inneficient shimmering of evil powder to make purification powder is Innacesible in-game outside of bring Ing clentaminator from other world (which can count as cheating). Anyway in Dontdigup / Everything the spread of contaigous biomes unlike other's is rather predictable as unlike other words when world is transferred to hardmode theres no "V" shape forming, only thing that forms is the massive "I" shape of Hallow at the side of Jungle and where Shimmer is. So prevention on DDU/Zenith seed is easiest just quite lenghty process, but fixing the problem is near impossible, in contrast to other worlds where prevention is almost impossible due to unpredictable nature of the (Undeground) Hallow and the new Evil & Undeground Evil Biome. The prevention works best in existing spots of evil biome though. Otherwise the entire world of dontdigup / Zenith is essentially rectangle only flanked by evil biomes / with Jungle side being hallow in hardmode and top being evil.
One thing I noticed when trying to contain my Don't Dig Up world (the same world but without the honey barrier) is that you need at least a cobalt pickaxe to block swap with stacked sand, meaning I can't block off the surface corrupted dessert pre-hardmode.
P.D: I take the Dont get fixed boi seed as a NG+ so I normally strip of armor and take a non-endgame weapon with me and my grind accesories like the shield or the phone, so, taking the molecart or using it if the devs buff it to prehardmode can be great vecause you can make a full rail arround the world so you check where the corruption starts or even pre seal all with no problems

"Fortunately" my GFB seed had the snow biome right above spawn. I thought it was totally normal until I saw other people playing it and having a much easier time than I was.
My drunk world seed was trolled by my friend in my first ever play through on console, when i was ready to enter hard mode, while killing the wall alone on multiplayer, they were placing crimson powder everywhere on the surface and in some parts of the underground so by time the wall was dead, it wasn't really drunk and more crimson. I had to make my spawn hallow since it can't really get infected in npcs don't mind, lucky for me i already had very large world size platforms made so bosses were possible up there and spawn, my jungle stayed pretty clean since the surface snow biome and the tiny chunk of corruption was blocking it, unlike other worlds ive done so far it was safe, the game progressed normally after and i haven't really cleansed it because the tiny bits of normal area are pretty safe. The world currently is around 60% crimson and the corruption and hallow being around 5%. Was definitely a fun and challenging playthrough to say the least.
With bone pickaxe and mining speed buffs you can hit a mine speed of 2 for mining 30 blocks per second. It's not as good as Titanium's 1 speed where you can dash at full speed with lightning boots/magiluminescence while mining, but it's still fast, and besides blocks it outright can't break like ebonstone, everything breaks in 1 hit. Molten Pickaxe can break the remaining blocks in 1 hit and at fastest speeds gets a mine speed of 4, half as fast but still pretty good for outstretching evil chasms. Interestingly, at 15 blocks per second the mole minecart is no faster than max buff molten and gives much less control, though the rails could be useful. Now I'm curious about a get fixed boi world where the world already starts entirely evil. Sounds horrendously painful but there technically wouldn't be any difference until you go above the first mushroom layer. You can get stone for a furnace from gem trees and after that I'd imagine progression would be pretty close to normal for a while, just with the added caveat of needing to shimmer some purification powder whenever you want to make any artificial biome.
What I love about this seed is that it takes all your Terraria knowledge, and makes you truly think. Ok, so you know this much. So if we turned the world on its head, it's still the same thing, but how would you approach it now?
Or, build a bunch of artificial biomes with preserved resources. I usually just quarantine chunks I like and call it good. Then again, I'm no hard-core master. I only have a few hours to play here and there so I have to be efficient with my time.
i once tried to clentaminate the entire surface in a getfixedboi world, and it's really weird, the game doesn't know what to do and still plays the evil biome music and drops souls of night, but with normal enemies spawning mostly
i know its a main game mechanic but like... biome spread should have a toggle or a way (like a moon lord drop) that removes it its not fun and its just stressful busywork in an otherwise fun game and by far the worst part of terraria

Well, in the remix seed, you do not have the extra layer of honey-related blocks that are generated (in other words, you need to work on containing the surface as well) so yes, it is more or less similar to GetFixedBoi seed.
Personally, even though I usually don't really do much about the evil biomes in a regular world, just the mere fact that the two ways of purifying the evil are completely removed scares me away from trying to beat the game. I get that it's to recontextualize EVERYTHING you know about the game and all, but couldn't Relogic have made the clentaminator a post-moon lord craftable or something involving the Shimmer. Once you beat the game, the next logical step is to get rid of the evil biomes and take back your world before leaving it for good.
honestly it's not really needed to stop the evil spread it won't hit your base likely, and GFB is actually rather quick bcz of the combination of the mechanical bosses and most players tending to do fishron first
