- This is a cover that we did of "The Forgiven" by David Ramirez. I heard it for the first time three days ago when a friend sent it to me. The lyrics are brilliant in the way lyrics can be when the more you think of them, the more they mean to you. Josh and I had a lot of fun making this video while Jack was taking his nap.

I saw you as an opener when I was in middle school.I'm not christian, but that has never stopped me from feeling your and loving your music and adoring your voice, and spirit. There are universal trends in human spirituality, explore them in your music, you've already done so maybe without knowing. We are all truly in this together, more alike then ever different. All the love to all of Lacy's fans. We all agree we are blessed to have her.
Why is it that the human soul rebels against those who say they have been forgiven? Pride- those who are in darkness don't want to see that they are flawed. It takes courage to look yourself in the mirror in the light and see what's really there and how much we are in need of Grace!
It's also our sinful hearts. Our hearts are so far away from God that we don't actually want to listen to someone telling you about how far off we are.
I've been there for 8 years. Due to circumstances I lived in, the emptiness of my family life (had someone VERY, VERY close to me killed himself when I was three.)
My parents told me when I was 5. I hated the message of God ever since. I questioned, hated, and scolded those who believed. People pushed me towards the edge as well (bullied nearly all my life as well.)
I always asked myself "How can I believe in something which clearly doesn't exist" "How can I believe in someone who would let something like that happen to me?"
After all those years, wasting my time on finding out who I really was, why I was alive (still crosses my mind at times), after searching to fill the void that NOTHING could fill, after all that time chasing after something I so desperately wanted (acceptance, love and joy,) I gave up. I had no more hope in me.
After those 8 years, I met my friend who happened to be a Christian.
And from that time on, I became a Christian and my life has been a roller coaster since.
Like I said, it's our hearts that cause the problem of rejecting the Truth. Our hearts are wicked, and lie to us all the time. It only took me three years from the time I became a Christian to really realise that, They reject everything that is to do with salvation and God as we cannot bear to listen to the fact that we are messed up, that we are condemned and that we can be saved from all that.

I love you Lacey no matter what you believe, you've saved my life and that's all that matters to me.
I'm not a Christian, but like you guys, I also feel touched to my core when I listen to her music and her voice. Lacey, if you ever see this, I just want to say thank you for giving hope to us all and being so inspiring. You've shared a lot of yourself & your experiences through talking about issues and singing about them (I struggled with depression as a child too). It's amazing how few artists actually talk about those things because they're afraid people will judge or it'll hurt their image or whatever. But by being so open and honest, you've affected and bettered SO many lives. Mine being one of them. Love you soooo much girl, you are really beautiful inside & out.

You are more than just a song writer. You're one of Gods chosen ones. Your songs that you write are not going void. They are heard and understood, and personally one of your songs helped me find God. Through the conviction it gave I found realization of my reality. As I said, if you read these, thank you.

Makes me want to cry every time.... It is so immensely painful because of how true the words are... Sometimes I worry about the world... But I know all I can do is better myself in the hopes to be a good example for my children who will then pass on what good they learn to their children. If people had children with the intention of bettering the world, a lot of the problems we have would not be. Would all of them be cured? No. But it would be better than now.
Oh, Ms. Lacey, young lady, what a wonderful song this is. It's perfect the way it's performed in this video. Praise God.
I will be honest. I loved Fly Lead but often wondered how a Christian can constantly write about being broken. Saved we are healed and that would come through your soul which in return would reflect music.
This song answered those questions I had about you Lacey. I always wondered if a part of your was being torn.

I will ALWAYS come to your show. I just went and saw you at scouts bar last Friday night. I went and saw you there last year too. Love your music. Told my husband you spread the word like Jesus did. Instead of just going to the temple to minister he went to the unwanted as well. So instead of just going to church and ministering to only the believers you go out to the bars, and maybe other venues that don't know him and minister to them. You are the perfect example of a Christ follower. I believe why so people have such a negative view of Christianity that are not christian or have fallen away is because there are so many Hippocrates, wolf in sheep's clothing. I totally believe there is a difference in Religion and knowing God. In the bible for example it talks about the Pharisees, they proclaimed with their mouth that they where followers of God but their actions spoke different and I'm sure in their day they gave God a bad rep but Jesus came along and spoke the truth and it ruffed their feathers and they faught to have him crucified. Well we still have Pharisees in this day and time. They are those ones that say they are christian but their actions speak different. I always say for anyone don't take God by my word but get a Bible and read about him yourself. If you seek him God will make himself known but no one can do it for you, I can tell you what he did for me but only you can take the journey to seek and find him. But anyways when I see you performing I was like this is why I will always be a fan because here is this girl talking about Jesus in a bar!! Not scared to share her faith and testimony. To me that's more powerful than a sermon on the pulpit on a Sunday. You are so awesome Lacey!!!

I knew from the beginning when I heard the album name and saw the artwork that something was up. Couldn't put my finger on it, but I knew something was changing. I knew in my heart Lacey didn't quit for no reason. These guys sold out, and she stayed true to herself and to God.

Hmmm so true, ive been to a few christian rock concerts and got the impression that many people there were not interested in Jesus but the music only. Thout shall have no idols before me. God has definitly dealt with me in regards to this in life. Everything should be on the back burner in life compared to knowing Christ. God bless you Lacey and Josh and your precious family.

I think this song is about her exiting Flyleaf. Some of the lyrics sound like something that some big shot at the record company would say to her. Your a song writer not a preacher nobody wants to hear about you being forgiven they want to hear about your problems. Whatever it is I'm happy that she kept her music clean and always kept her clothes on. Because most of the popular for females are half dressed and singing about filth. Lacey and Alexis Brown from Straight Line Stitch they're the best female artist there are today in my humble opinion.
I think this is a cover by David Ramirez, not a Lacey or Flyleaf song. But I agree with everything you said! Gotta give props to classy women who stand their ground. :)

Honestly, I look up to you Lacey. I lived a hard life as well.. I was at the verge of swallowing my bottle of pills I prepared a while back which I did ... then your song "how he loves" started playing on Pandora.. you brought me back to life. You made me remember that Jesus still loves and he loves with so much power. Thank you so much.♥
A big regret I have is never getting to see Flyleaf live while Lacey was still the lead singer. I grew up listening to her, and you can definitely see the spiritual growth she's gone through over the years. It's like their last album was the resolution of all she had gone through and sang about in the first album. It's so inspiring to watch her sing worship and praise God. Wish I could see it live one day, because that would be WAY better than any of the Flyleaf concerts could have been.

I understand this on so many levels, the biggest being a songwriter myself. When I tell people I write music, they think it's awesome until I say they're mostly Christian, at which point they go back to seeing me as invisible.

I love Lacey soooo much she is an amazing woman and person and shes such an inspiration and role model to me. I've seen her live with Flyleaf once most amazing thing ever. Hope to meet her one day n see her live solo :)
