I tried a different Power Handle after watching your review (ZGCINE H90, I suppose most of these power handles are more or less the same OEM product) with the W100, and CL100X. It lasted for roughly 46 and 38 minutes in 100% light output, then it stopped. I could then turn on again and it lasted for a minutes or two. I reduced the power to 25%, then it lasted another 6 minutes and 10 minutes respectively.
However, using a 99Wh v-mount battery, D Tap to DC cable, it lasted over 75 minutes for both lights. Their light output are almost identical by a Sekonic L-858D, W100 is 0.1 stop brighter in 1 meter.
The design of these latest Power Handle are different from most v-mount batteries. They can output 20V 5A from the USB C port. D tap to DC cable worked on both types of batteries. I found the Power Handle on the heavy side after holding for more than 10 minutes. For handholding the W100, I prefer using a cheap & light selfie stick, attached a v mount battery by a 1.5m D tap to DC cable. The v mount battery can be clipped onto a belt or clamped onto a light stand.

Just found it on sale at Best Buy. I'm starting to get more serious about the quality of video on my channel. I do have a soft box but after watching this video, I thought what the heck. Thanks man!

I would like to just point out that the mount for the COLBOR w100 is the same mount as Nanlite’s smaller forza lines (60, 60B, 150, 150b ect). So if you have accessories for that mount system (as well as the footage 60w light) they will work…..in theory.
I say in theory because the grip on the side of the COLBOR makes it difficult to use certain accessories (the Nanlite Fresnel, bowers mount adapter) but I’ve put the Nanlite projector mount, the Nanlite reflector dish and Nanlite softbox on it and it is safely secured.

Do you know how this light compares to the colbor cl100x or colbor cl100xm. Also considering the fan noise or light indexes? Hard to find any info on why to pick one over the other. I hope you can help.

Nice. I'd love to see test with a model in the evening sun as backlight and this lighting subject 👌🏻 see if it's capable to replace some of my flash gear

Unfortunately my methodology often results in very short business relationships with brands 😂
But thankfully Colbor seems to appreciate my candor … for now lol

@@WesPerry well so they know, other videos I'd seen on it made me feel like it wasn't good enough to actually talk about so they only mention talking points and how great the propriety mount is. Which makes me not want to buy. But having it actually picked apart and shown what it can and can't do means, I'll probably actually get it

Thanks Wes for the review. Would you happen to know if the mini bowens mount accessories from Zhiyun are compatible with the W100 and vice versa?

I did mention in this video, unfortunately they’re a totally different mount.

Man that 20 minute battery life is extremely disappointing. Almost makes the handle pointless

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  7 месяцев назад +2

At just slightly lower output levels the battery life is Dramatically better. I started creating a graph of it, but I ran out of time before launch day, because the lower levels were in the order of several hours.

i may be incorect, could Colbor use mini Bowens mount - the same as nanlite fm mount ?

I would love more adoption of the "Godox Mount" (as seen on the AD300 Pro) myself. But I'm a flash guy, so that's my bias 😏

"Mini bowen mount" is just a marketing terms , almost every small cob light use their own mount.

@@victorlolo2008there are mini softboxes made with mini bowens mount I can use for Ad300 and Ad400. I own 3. So it’s not a generic term
