    With the release of vision pro, let us see the future terminal form and what can replace mobile phones and laptops. In the era of VR glasses, 3D images will definitely replace 2D images, and there will be more and more 3D image content in the future. TECHE 3D180VR camera is a good effort, and it is also a relatively successful product and 3DVR image shooting tool. It is also one of the forerunners of future imaging equipment.

Wow, I’m TRULY AMAZED!!!!!!!!!!!! And also I’m new to VR in general. I just barely found out about VR a week a ago! I’m a big camera person so my next camera is going to be a VR180 camera!

    Just thinking out loud: one stat I'd love to start hearing regularly in live stream capable VR180 cameras is the true time to encode for broadcast. In other words, what is the minimum possible delay between capture and handoff to whatever service (local or cloud) that will encode it for streaming. This should encompass time for stitching and considerations like wifi vs ethernet. I think it's helpful to approach it like quant firms wanting to have internet connections as close to the stock market as possible. If I'm watching sportsball, I want to know that the winning goal happened as few seconds ago as physically possible

    Hugh, you’re the man! Three questions.
    1. How is the network live streaming capability on the TECHE 3D180VR? Is there significant latency? Is the network live-stream at 2k proxy or 8k quality?
    2. My primary use case is live stream, with the priority being video quality and low latency rather than price point. Thus do you suggest waiting for the Calf 3D VR180 camera? Which camera has better live stream quality / lower latency?
    3. Is it possible to live stream from TECHE with external ambisonic audio source (such as Zoom H3-VR 360° VR Audio Recorder)?
    Many thanks for the excellent videos!

    • @KO-rf1ol
      @KO-rf1ol Год назад +1

      1.The latency in live streaming is influenced by various factors, including the camera's encoding and decoding, network transmission, server-side caching, player-side caching, and the performance of the playback device. In our tests using 3D180VR on a local network with SRT protocol, the average latency was around 1.2 seconds. When using the RTMP protocol, the latency did not exceed 2 seconds. The resolution during live streaming can be configured, with support for up to 8K 30fps live streaming, and the bitrate can be adjusted based on network conditions. The latency mentioned in the video comparison was tested using 8K resolution.
      3.3D180VR supports external Zoom H3-VR. It can be connected via a Micro USB cable to input 4-channel audio.

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  Год назад +1

      Hey I will highly highly rewatch this video. All answers are in the video already in great details. Just to recap, “network live streaming” has different protocols. Which one do you use? I covered RTMP RTSP and SRT. SRT just stream 8K. RTSP is 2K - RTMP you can choose.

    Great video. I love the comparison videos between the Insta360, CALF, Teche- Fanless and Canon R5C. I kept pausing the video and tried to compare the four cameras. First impression was surprised at how well the Insta360 performed and how poorly the Canon R5C did. After closer inspection I began coming to the conclusion that the Canon contrast was dialed down -so perhaps my first impression had to do with settings. I then began to notice the jpeg artifacts and some washed out details in the Insta360 EVO video. I couldn’t explain why the grain in the wood floor looked so much better in the CALF video. Hugh and the dog were slightly more out of focus in the CALF but on the positive side, the CALF image appeared to have the least amount of JPEG artifacts, particularly noticeable around Hugh’s eyes and glasses. Overall, I’d take any of these cameras for a reasonable price / performance where my bias is for best portability for prosumer / armature travel. This sort of rules out the Canon for me and anything much over $1000 US. Can’t wait to see what Canon has to offer with their prototype 360 / 180 3D. ❤

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  Год назад +2

      Wow thank you for the indepth review of my review lol. So Canon is shot at Cinema Gaumt C - Log 3 - so the contract is very flat in favorite of "cinema" look and great color depth (you see later I pull all the color back kinda like HDR). Also Canon has no in sensor sharpening or denoising - so it is noisy and soft. But again, not a bad thing. This should be settings to dial in during post production process. Other camera does that for you so very consumer friendly but limit colorist like us to do color grading. So just different approaches. I choose to show what the camera gave us instead of doing any of my usual processing to keep it fair comparison. You also notice some focal distance here which is a great catch - this is related to lens quality.

    • @Insomn
      @Insomn Год назад

      Yeah, the canon videos look pretty disappointing and have to be edited in post I think. One of the major selling points of the other cameras is how straight forward they are I guess

      @mkd0921 Год назад +1

      That's my point too.
      Canon is a bit disappointing considering the price.
      In this point of view, CALF sounds reasonable with quality vs price.
      I also expect the new consumer model of Canon though,,, it should be better than EVO but around 1000usd actually.

    • @hughhou

      It is the 1" sensor they use. There is current no SONY 1" sensor can do high frame rate I believe. Same as One RS 1" - Insta360 is not releasing 60fps. So 60fps won't be in 1" - prob need to go bigger or smaller. FM Dream might be the only option for bigger. But I still do not have one yet.

      Teche footage come out is ready to go on the Internet. No need to do anything and very easy to use. The strength is on VR180 livestream. But Canon will get you more dynamic range, better image quality still and full control of F-stop and motion blur. So more professional workflow. I don't want to put Insta360 standard on them on UIs - but something easy to use button combo is highly recommanded. I was doing vr180 3d at least 5 years ago. Nothing fantastic here. I had 5.7k30 interpolated with gyro stabilization. I want to see 6k60 no interpolation with stabilization. This is the minimum in a 2800x 1680 headset like my samsung odyssey gen1. Everything under 6k60 is useless. 4k is not enough in VR. So the type of camera overheat easily and file are very big fast. I sold it and wait a technology jump. But i captured nice 3d photo and video in the past in 360 and vr180. The post production was new at this time. I was using vegas pro with plugin for VR. Now i use DaVinci Resolve (free version) i think the studio version is needed for 5.7k.

    It's an otherwise awesome camera, but the on-board microphones - or rather the on-board A/D converter connected to those microphones, is a letdown. It sounds like its internal sample rate is only 16000 Hz, so you get a muddy sound with no frequencies above 8 kHz. So, if you get this camera, you will need to use an external USB microphone / audio device with it. I really hope they can up the sample rate to 48 000 with a firmware update (so that it's not a hardwired limitation).

    • @hughhou

      Wait did you hear my sample? It sounds like 48Khz - it is way better than even Canon.

    • @BeMeCam
      @BeMeCam Год назад

      @Hugh Hou I heard the sample. No fan noise = good. But it lacks high frequencies and sounds muffled (also it is very quiet so you need to gain it up a lot). If you look at onboard recordings of the 3D180VR in a spectrogram you can see there is barely any signal above 8000 Hz. The audio is encoded into the video as 48k but the internal sample rate of the onboard A/D converter seems to be only 16k.
      I have made recordings with my own 3D180VR as well, same problem. You need to use an external USB mic with the 3D180VR to get good sound. Also the USB audio adapter that comes with 3D180VR only records in mono (you get 2 channels but there is no stereo difference) so you need to use something else as a USB Interface to record stereo from a camera mic. A Zoom H1 works well for this, you can set it to USB Interface mode and then you can plug a 3.5mm stereo camera mic to its input.
      Insta360 One RS has the same issue. Low internal sample rate -> muddy sound.

    • @BeMeCam
      @BeMeCam Год назад

      @@hughhou A sure-fire way to test the frequency response of mics and A/D converters is to jingle a bunch of (metal) keys near the microphones. Metal emits very high frequencies so you can clearly hear if they end up missing in the resulting recording. If you test that, then compared to what you hear with your own ears, the 3D180VR on-board recording sounds like underwater.

    • @BeMeCam
      @BeMeCam Год назад

      @@hughhou The latest firmware update 0.1.16 now fixes the on-board mic sound quality issue. It was a matter of sample rate on the A/D converter. The frequency response used to go only up to 8k, now it goes up to 17k.

      @@KO-rf1ol First of all, I'm not a professional and dont own a VR camera yet- just in the market to buy my first one. It was one of the samples from: drive.google.com/drive/folders/17eOzgUow5BughzMYyXejTUBRR_wKuAYa called "8K 3D180VR Sample.mp4", though all the footage there has the same effect while viewing it in DeoVR on an HP Reverb G2. After further review, I think that what I'm seeing is an issue with all 180VR video in general that I've never really noticed until looking at this particularly awkward test footage where you have plates of food in the lower periphery. If I try to look at the chips and salsa on the left, I have to turn my head completely horizontal to see it, same with the pasta on the right. Looking from plate to plate it just becomes very apparent that I have to tilt my head as I turn. But it turns out it's some of the ONLY VR180 footage I have that has details in those uncomfortable viewing angles. But I did find some others after digging through my clips, like Calf's Dog & Cat videos had the same problem because the camera was so close to the linoleum. Its just something I never noticed about this video format I guess. If I weren't looking at the footage with the mindset of checking it's quality, I probably wouldn't have paid any mind to it. I'd just say that it's just something to try to avoid filming in the first place, and it might be a good idea to film a separate scene where the peripherals are further away lest someone think that it's a problem with the camera. Calf has something like 40 different scenes to download for instance, and if the only one they had were the dog & cat scene, I'd probably have raised an eyebrow about that head tilting issue.

    I got some videos and photos from friends' camera. 1. Synchronization problems. The cameras run in variable bit rate and are synchronized every second. This has large asynchronous frames and an irregular motion sequence that does not resolve itself even with Optical Flow at 60fps. Photos are a frame of video saved out of sync. 2. Fixed F1.8 always has burned out sun. No ND filter to increase exposure times due to stroboscopic effect at 30fps. 3. Noise reduction destroys too much detail. Data rate 100MBit/s would turn details and noise into artefacts. Conclusion: ok for indoor live streaming, useless for hobby videos. Sync issues and f1.8 issues are not correctable in the post process. Photos with high probability synchronously. Try it on a screen with a stopwatch with milliseconds. The built-in microphones are almost useless. For the price of the camera and the manufacturer's brand, the camera is a joke.

    If I was working on Calf, which launches on KS tomorrow, I'd be feeling pretty sad right now! Still, the price point targets a completely different class of user. What I suspect most folks still don't see when they get hung up on the price of these devices is that when the correct modality is obvious in hindsight, these things will pay for themselves. That is, nobody understood who would want televisions or computers when they were first available. Adult content is indeed one of the most obvious examples, and folks should get over their prudish hangups. However, I believe that will will see more and more examples of people watching sports and concerts in high-resolution VR180 with their friends, in applications like BigScreen or similar. And guess what? If porn is amazing in VR180, real-time devices like this Teche unit might make you question if Google's virtual telepresence machines might be over-engineered. If you could visit your kids before bed on a business trip and have it feel almost real, you might not think all of this is so crazy.
    Still, for US$4200 the 30fps thing is a real problem. I suspect that the problem is heat dissipation. My hope is that the MkII will figure out how to do 60/90fps and beyond without melting the case within the next few years.

    the price is the issue. maybe 5 years from now the next gen phones will have these capabilities. Apple then will own the market. shame. evo was a loss. bad motherboard design, and the ignorance of the streaming platforms.

      If you saw my Apple Vision Pro video, Apple already has a VR180 camera internally. But it is super super expensive I bet with Apple TV standard...

      @@hughhou most likely. the idea of 3dtv will be apples VR killer media for the family. it such a shame it was ignored for 5 years. i have my not working evo on ebay, plus all accessories. if one can fix it its a deal .;) we need a 600 dollar streaming 180vr camera before having to wait for integration into both Samsung and apple top end phones in a few years

    I'm barely into watching this video and I just want to say, I appreciate original content, yet hearing another "Hey, What's up everybody?" at the start of a video makes me want to throw up. This opening is unoriginal, unnecessary (do you think we are really going to answer?), and feels like insecurity. Skip the BS and get to why we came. Thanks.

      Thank you for the feedback. I actually has been doing that for the past 10 years on my channel. But I will come up with something more creative to say :)

      @@hughhou I was likely too harsh in my comment, but it expressed what I was feeling at the moment. You are a smart guy and I appreciate your work. Perhaps because I'm older now, I'm not as much into the hype that the younger generation goes for. It doesn't seem like what a calm, intelligent person would do, but perhaps it is, since I don't know you,. Thanks for your response.

      P.S. I like the calm, presentation style of Andrew Huberman, but everyone is different. :)
