    It occurred to me while watching this that EA may slowly be training buyers to accept fewer and fewer items in an EP. Soon EPs will be game pack size. Game Packs will be like Stuff Packs. They'll break up the bundles even more and players will just gobble it up. :\

    The sims team doesn’t care about new players. Windenburg had a ton of lots, Brindleton Bay is pretty big, San Myshuno has a lot. But all the new worlds are so small witn like 8 or 9 lots. They say this is because of performance, but if you are a new sims player, you might not own the older packs and you might only want to buy the newer packs. Except if you do that, you are missing out on more lots and you can still handle the performance.

    • @viddeliten

      Performance my ass, only one neighborhood is loaded at any one time. That's precisely why there is loading screens.

    • @lucidhalos
      @lucidhalos 10 месяцев назад +56

      It's annoying when they blame performance, when a decade of technology has emerged since the first game where a lot of stuff is coded and built smarter so there is less strain on performance. An example I can give is Warframe (different genre)--back in 2020, they released a patch that cleaned up useless data, optimized textures, and fixed specs to lessen the size of the game so it worked better for smaller SSDs. They reduced the game by about 8.5gb (considering it took 6.5gb to download and removed 15gb). It was a smart move.
      The only performance struggling is the people working on it, because EA does not want to invest too much into an older (but active) franchise. What interests them is whatever nets them the most money.

    • @TsukiMo0n
      @TsukiMo0n 10 месяцев назад +36

      To be honest i think that have more to do with laziness than performances issues. Old worlds like Willow Creek, Newcrest, Windenburg, Oasis Springs have 15 lots + and i didn't see them worry this much about performances issues with how big they are. I mean come on the worlds aren't even open worlds, and each worlds are divided by neighborhoods. So this isn't even like you load everything. It's not like they would force you to put six apartments on one lot and many sims living there either if you can't handle it. People should really stop with this bs of an excuse. I just think they are more and more tired of this game and at this point they can do whatever they want. Because even if peoples are going to be mad about it they wont care, they know many will still buy anyway.
      The fact that people are more and more fu--ed by this game and are trying to protect their laziness with performances issues baffles me.

    • @joyfulgirl91
      @joyfulgirl91 10 месяцев назад +3

      It’s not a logical argument for an a la carte game. Some guidelines about how much content certain specs can expect to handle would be caring about owners of low end systems

    • @Rethory
      @Rethory 10 месяцев назад +10

      @@joyfulgirl91System requirements exist for a reason. Those peoples should learn more about pc specs and stop buying computers/laptops that are not suitable for gaming. One thing that i am aware of about many simmers is that they buy computers/laptops that are mostly suitable for work. No wonder why they get performance issues.
      Hardwares are evolving, and i'm tired of all the restrictions that are forced upon the ones that have good specs only because developers have to think about older gens and lower specs. There has been many cases of games that could've been way better if the developers didn't have to refrain on many great implementations in order for the game to run on lower specs.
      I couldn't run many games before yet i didn't cry about it. I sticked with the older ones that i could play and then i learned about pc specs and built my own computer wich in the end cost me way less than if i bought one. Knowledge is the key. And i'm not saying that everyone should be able to build their own computer, but if they are interested in gaming then they should learn about pc specs. This way they can at least buy a computer with the recommended specs.
      Anyway The Sims 4 is 10 years old and they already made many restrictions with how this game was built in the first place. Loading screens, worlds not being open worlds + separated between neighborhoods + lots not being open either until you travel to them.

      like how Get To Work came with the multiple careers, aliens, illness system, retail option, baking skill. Lots of differing things, but thematically all in the same pack.
      Compared to something like Vampires, which is a game pack because it’s JUST vampires and it’s getting an extra focus
      Stuff packs were “Hey you want this but we don’t have enough content to have a game pack for it, so if you want it you can buy it cheaper here.” Usually, very unnecessary add-ons, but catering to a niche.

The line between the EP and GP for Sims 4 is in fact, an arbitrary EA boardroom decision. At this point it is about if what they add to the game are valuable to you. Outside of Magnolia promenade, the main thing I use in get to work is the hospital. Thank god I got it on sale for about $17 on a CD keys site.

Life By You has a lot of ideas but for now the graphics and animations etc aren't doing it for me. I'm mostly looking forward to Paralives.

    • @boo9507
      @boo9507 10 месяцев назад +5

      @@serendipityx honesty, I disagree. I think inzoi can improve by a lot in one year. The company in huge unlike the ParaLives team. (I mean, it’s been in development for 1 year and look how far they’ve come.) Also, sims 4 released with no pools, toddlers, and majority of the base game clothes and hair are horrendous. Alpha cc users with most likely favor inzoi, and a good majority of sims players only play for the cas and building aspects which inzoi (at least with cas) seems to be doing pretty well. Aside from that, sims 4 gameplay is shallow, half the packs don’t work, and so I don’t think inzoi will have to provide much to make it more fun than sims 4. Yes, the sims 4 has a huge fan base (almost culty so- heads stuck up their ass giving praise for small things that the previous games did 100% better) but it wouldn’t be weird for people to play more than just one game. They’ll all offer different aspects that people will like better. Life by you and inzoi have more realism-look, ParaLives (and I assume sims 5) will give the more cartoony look. I’m personally more excited for inzoi and think it has a ton of potential. As for life by you, I only see myself playing it if they majorly improve the graphics. (Sorry for the long response)

    gonna be honest. my hype for this pack disappeared when I found out you needed a loading screen *to literally enter a different part of your own home lot.* I think the idea is we have a lot of families crammed into the small number of lots. In fact, a small world (for once) could have easily worked in this pack's favor...but they didn't do the one thing that would have made it good. If families felt so close together and you could visit without a loading screen, having fewer lots would encourage that closeness. Would have enjoyed it. but they screwed it up pretty fricking bad...it's so unfortunate

    • @likeinoldtale17

      The loading screen is essential for performance. And this is really true, and not the usual EA excuse. Imagine: a huge house and 20+ sims. The computer needs to process the AI of 20+ Sims at the same time

      @likeinoldtale17 the sims 4 wasn't even supposed to be the sims 4, it was supposed to be a online experience but they scrapped it halfway through development after the disaster of simcity. That's why we had so many features missing and still missing cuz the engine is rushed. So I understand why there would be loading screens, the game isnt built to be open, but we can agree its kinda ridiculous and upsetting to have a loading screen on the same lot. I'm still holding hope that it's like the sims 2 tho, where it would load in front of you without a screen.

      @TheDawnofVanlife 10 месяцев назад +4

      They are right because sims 4 isn’t even coded like Sims 2 when it comes to lots vs households. While Sims 2 Apartments did work better in a bubble, as far as freedom to actually move around in the lot beyond your house, Sims 4 gives you way more freedom. And you could not visit another house AT ALL in sims 2. Fellow apartment dwellers could visit folks on the same building, but you could not visit another house or even another apartment building. You can’t mention one thing and ignore the others. And I love Sims 2...still the best actual GAME to me, but sims 2 was far more closed then Sim 4 when it comes to maps. There was more editing freedom in sims 2 and you could add lots whereever, but a lot was a lot. And when a lot loaded for actual gameplay, your lot ended at your lot. There was no walkable/bikable areas beyond your box.
      Sims 3 is literally not comparable because, yes, it had a fully open neighborhood system. It would take extensive recoding the base game and possibly redoing every pack to have Sims 4 emulate something it wasn’t built to do. They certainly couldn’t throw it an an expansion pack 9 years after coding themselves into a corner.
      What they need is a new game and that’s way off and may go in a direction people don’t want in the end anyway.

    Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but even though I would love another huge Windenburg sized world, if this pack does as promised and allows us to completely change lots in other worlds to have townhouses, apartments, etc., then I’m not too bothered by this.

    As mean as this might sound I truly believe that sims players deserve these garbage expansions. The community has been complaining about expansion packs lack of content for years, yet they still eat up all the garbage Maxis throws at them while saying more please. The only way this trash team will change is talking with your wallets but that will never happen with the sims cause the community has a serious lack of self control.

      @@christabelle__ EA did nothing with SimCity tanked. They didn't try to make a better game, not really, they folded and pulled up shop and closed Maxis Emeryville. I honestly don't think the simulation genra would die with the Sims if they did close shop (which I don't think they will). But someone else would just succeed with another game that was similar, much like what happened with city builders. Maybe not right away, but it would happen.

    Honestly, I have a theory that the EP released this year were going to be pack refreshes. As the pack refresh didn't financially do as well as they had hoped, they went 'let's just make money off them by selling them'. Growing Together was an refresh of Parenthood, Horse Ranch was Cats and Dogs and For Rent is clearly City Living. The game play is the refresh, the B/B, CAS, and worlds are the bloat to fill to an EP amount. How else is there 3 EPs in one year, this is unheard of, and it is suffering if my theory is not correct.

    Because right, all of these packs have similar features and all together they could have built up on one another!
    I don't acc own any of these personally so I'm not sure on alllll the features, but honestly Growing together just feels like an expensive add on to Parenthood, like, who needs growing together if you have parenthood??
    Personally, I am aiming to get all of the packs (on sale because that should be the real price) just for the different CAS and Build/Buy mode stuff, but from a gameplay pov there are so many packs that should have been included together (Like horses should have come with cats + dogs and Seasons should have been base game fr)

For example highschool years were on cd keys on black Friday offer for £11. So I got it today. Even my first pet stuff dropped to a price I was willing to pay (£0) 🤣🤣🤣. I understand that sometimes you want the content even if it's not worth the money but I'd say making a more wise mind decision to wait to get it when it's on offer atleast is worth it imo.

Isso ia ser um sonho que infelizmente não é possível realizá-lo, mesmo que, exista um mod para editar mundos, bem, vocês entenderam, queria algo que o jogo nos proporcionasse. Modders really are the ones that give the expansion packs an expansion pack's worth of content, for example, in Horse Ranch you can have real Unicorns with magic, a Pegasus, a hippogriff, and camels, and a trait that lets horses float which is good for those winged horses, with all those different ridable animals and the added gameplay from Spinning Plumbob's Unicorn mod, it feels like a proper expansion pack. Unfortunately those not on PC can't experience the full gameplay feel due to not being able to use mods, which is really unfair considering how full the modders make the game feel. In fact a lot of things before they were packs existed in some kind of mod, going to school was a mod before Highschool Years, there was a werewolf mod before the werewolf pack was made, with mods you can have fairies, which Sims 4 still doesn't have. I think the best thing EA could do is let console players be able to use CC and mods, so console players can get the full gameplay experience.
