    I have used RZ masks for a number of years and they served me well ….. very similar to the Base Camp. A couple of years ago, I installed a dust filtration unit on the ceiling of my workshop and also purchased a Positive Pressure mask system. For me, I feel that the PPAR does a better job. It is more expensive, but having lungs that are already compromised, I felt it was worth the investment to allow me to continue working in the shop.
    Whatever you use ….. just use something! You only get one set of lungs and they need protection! Thanks for this great video Ken …. Shop safety can never be brought up too much 🤠🇨🇱

      I have quite a few dust masks but so far, these are the most comfortable for me to use. I'm glad that you were able to find a system that works well for you Randy. As you said, the important part to take away from this video is to protect your lungs. WEAR SOMETHING. Thanks for tuning in and for chiming in with your setup.

    Great advise Kenny. I wish I thought about this 30 years ago. Between sawdust and smoking (which I quit 20 years ago) bought me a ticket to COPD. A dust mask would have saved me I do believe. Take it from me.DUST MASK, DUST MASK. Thanks for the great video. I have used RZ mask for a number of years now. The Base Camp looks very similar. Thanks for all you do.

    Thank you so much for the Base Camp masks video! Just received mine today and they work great. I purchased 2 M-Cross masks with 6 filters. These straps work great because I have behind the ear hearing aids and they do not interfere with them. My glasses do not fog up either!
    I appreciate you!!!

    Hi Kenny, good video and good advice, I use one of those respritory types and it has a little motor blowing in cool air as well. a bit combersome but worth it because instead of dust coming through the gaps it blows through the gaps as well and I like the effect of the cool air on my face . I have a fairly long beard now so this helps. looks like a good product that you are testing though. Thanks for this video.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  4 месяца назад +1

      Sounds like you have an incredible system worked out William. The problem with beards is that they interfere with the seal that the masks provides but it sounds like you have overcome that with the system that you use. Thanks for tuning in and for chiming in with your methods.

    I have been using them for a couple months. Very comfortable and does a great job. Currently working on a large vanity project using red cedar. The fine dust and odor are horrible. These have made it comfortable to work all day in those conditions.

      I absolutely HATE those cheap paper ones. They just don't breath and I end up sweating like crazy underneath them. Not to mention that I am constantly breathing in my own, hot, moist, stale air. They are just horrible. I hope that you are able to find a mask that suits you. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

    Yet another great video, giving the facts as you see them ... brilliant review 👍
    Personally I wouldn't use this type of mask as I have a beard, even though you say it'll be better than a silicon type mask because it'll compress the hairs better ... you'll still have all the gaps between the hairs to allow dust in.
    As for activated carbon, why? It's supposed to be a dust mask, why pay extra for activated carbon filters if you are not doing anything which gives off fumes!

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  4 месяца назад

      I have to agree with the beard issue Barry. Having any facial hair at all with a mask will not provide as good of a seal as you truly need but with that being said, the cloth of these masks seem to work better with a beard than other styles. A proper method of respiration for those who have facial hair would be a full face mask that seals around the forehead, cheeks and below the neckline. As for the carbon filters, these masks are not just for woodworking. They are intended for things in the construction industry as well where the user might be exposed to things with fumes. Better to be look at it, than looking for it. Thanks for tuning in to the show and for chiming in with your thoughts.

    Scrollnado is GREAT for dust collection on a scroll saw. I bought it at a woodworking show. I think $70.00. You should buy one. I think they make one for the bandsaw.

      I've never heard of Scrollnado but will look into them David. How's the noise level though? Part of the relaxation of scrolling for me, is the fact that I don't have to wear hearing protections and I can just listen to music and work at the saw. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

    I wear glasses also, and a mask using the lathe. Did you do any tests as far as glasses fogging up with the base camp mask and a lathe mask ???

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  4 месяца назад +1

      I did Lloyd and using the basecamp mask while sanding at the lathe, WITH a full face shield on did not fog up my glasses at all. I found that as long as you have the nose piece adjusted properly for the shape of your nose, it forms a great seal under your glasses and prevents them from fogging up. All of your breath comes out of the one way valves below your glasses. I was very pleased about this. Thanks for tuning in. I hope this helps.

    How does your safety glasses fit on those masks? I don’t wear mine because once you add the hearing protection the glasses don’t fit, meaning dust just flies right underneath the glasses and into my eyes. I feel it every time I’m in the shop without a mask, so I’m very interested and they do look comfortable. Luckily I don’t get out to the shop a lot right now, but in the near future I want to be out there a lot so I need to come up with a solution.
