    Really like the their approach of card distribution with no guarantees per box. Gives a better feeling buying single packs and opening a box is also more exciting

      I called around my LGSs and only one had heard of Grand Archive and the reason they didn't carry it was because they didn't have enough to send them. Since I don't want to drive 78 miles to go play in an event, how do I help my card shops (in Columbus, OH) be a shop that hosts an event?

    Getting a full playset of each super rare is kinda insane; takes ~22 boxes on average if no duplicates. Seems like it could be really difficult to get a full playset of the cards depending on how much availability there is for singles.

    • @MaindeckGames
      @MaindeckGames  Год назад +5

      Yep, the GA team is doing a number of things differently than how most other TCGs operate right now. A full playset may be hard to open, but in theory that means more SRs you pull will actually have some value because people will be wanting to purchase them as singles - meaning that between SRs, the UR, and your foils, it should be hard to have a box that doesn't have value in it, unlike many other TCGs right now.

    Awesome video and very informative. A bit strange that a case not only doesnt get you a playset of SRs (suppose this is fine as it will help them maintain nice value), but you might not even get 1 of every SR in a case. Singles will definitely be the way to go if you arent drafting!

    So amazing.. This is how a true TCG rarity and collectability should be done.. Card games like Flesh and Blood actually did not understand how to implement a true 'trading' aspect.. This Grand Archive seem to have huge scalability to flood trading markets.. And awesome they random drop CSR into starter decks and actually have improved artworks in Alter editions, very well done!

    Looks fun and the aesthetics are pleasing but one thing I will never understand with western tcgs is the recent hype for first edition boosters' style of marketing which only drives up prices on the secondary market for possible "collectors". Japan already learnt its lesson a long time ago and prints unlimited as the standard from the get-go.
    One of my personal major turnoffs. I'm pretty sure most players who like the game want at least some chance of getting the highest rarity cards for each *unlimited* boosters lifespan rather than the short 2/3 month limited quantity print run of 1st edition style.
    I usually get chastised by the vocal people who want to keep their "investments", but I'm just someone who quietly plays just hoping to pull something nice if Im late to the party or at least buy it at a decent price. Really felt like I need to get this off my chest, seeing all the hundreds/thousands dollar cards going around in the west.

  • @nicademeous
    @nicademeous Год назад +5

    I'm very excited for this game but really worried that it's going to be way too expensive on the secondary market to get the cards I'll need.

    • @quickestturtlez5362
      @quickestturtlez5362 Год назад +1

      I think most of the cards in base rarity will be very affordable, save for the best SRs. Which is great news. Im a bit worried about SR pull rates but everything else seems solid for base rarity. URs being 1 ofs is huge.

    • @quickestturtlez5362
      @quickestturtlez5362 Год назад

      You can also get alter boxes for under $100 which is pretty reasonable.

    • @dragonhollowfire2730
      @dragonhollowfire2730 Год назад

      @@quickestturtlez5362 Tbh that is exactly the issue. If SRs and rarer end up being shortprinted getting a casual affordable playset will be a nightmare. On the other hand if they do reprints in the future it wont be an issue.

    Are the foil/Cr odds more structured or true random. (For example is the 3 foils per box pretty strict or is it possible to get 0 or more then 3 in a booster box)

    • @MoGoBizkit
      @MoGoBizkit Год назад

      According to the team there is no guarantee system, resulting in the same probabilities for each pack. 0 foils in a box are possible

    • @MaindeckGames
      @MaindeckGames  Год назад

      @@MoGoBizkit Yep, it should be "on average", though I think all the early boxes we've seen opened had 3 foils so I'd reckon it's at least reasonably likely

  • @ErkWitz
    @ErkWitz Год назад

    What are the Supporter Pack 1 boxes (aside from just more boosters)? Are they from the Kickstarter?

    • @MaindeckGames
      @MaindeckGames  Год назад +1

      Supporter Pack 1 are convention exclusive reprint releases featuring alternate extended artwork and, rarely, exclusive CSRs. They are sold at conventions or major events only, and they are helping fund expanding GA's Organized Play program. Recently, the team was able to announce additional cash prizing and more events due to the sales of Supporter Pack 1.

    Is the front card of the starter deck foil? I can't remember a game where this wasn't the case

    • @MaindeckGames
      @MaindeckGames  Год назад

      The starter decks contain no foil cards, actually, for either edition - unless you get lucky and pull a CSR in an Alter Edition starter. You're right that this is one of few games to do it that way, but they are committed to making their foils valuable pulls!

    When does alter edition release?

  • @SkywalkFPV
    @SkywalkFPV 11 месяцев назад

    I just opened a box of Dawn of Ashes and Fractured Crown that was a truly nice, balanced may I also say frugal experience (like it should be eventually) - Though since your close to the source I want to point towards a few things for the better.. All card in the starter decks were very vibrant ink colors, but I noticed some of the same cards in the boosters be a bit more vague in color like they were running low on ink or economic settings.. Overall the cards look great and the quality is very high.. The most concerning thing is that I was not able to obtain some Dungeon Guides!! o.0.. Forcing me to that overpriced aftermarket where people only sell them from what I understand kickstarter decks? This is a real problem, right?! Since those cards are a staple cards and must have in almost every meta deck build! I do not mind some foils being 800,- and up I am the first who would say that is a good thing for sure.. But this (should be common) meta card and cannot end up like that.. You will then get the same problem as F&B like with there Fyendal and Lightning Strikes for example ect.. Only parallel cards should have trade and or collectability value by there design! So how are they going to solve this I may ask? I expect at least every new starter deck Alchemical Revolution that they make a small booster on top of those cards to handout Dungeon Guides, also in there booster boxes?.. Or just completely ban that card into play, maybe I am missing some common sense here, please enlighten me..

    • @MaindeckGames
      @MaindeckGames  11 месяцев назад +1

      Dungeon Guide is an incredible card for some decks, but is not a staple in every deck. It's currently about $15 as a single, which is a totally fine price for a good card in a TCG. I disagree with the assertion that the only valuable cards should be parallels or chase cards - that skews average return value in boxes to the extremes and indicates a low demand for actual play of the game. While regular prints of cards shouldn't be too expensive, $15 per card is a totally fair price for arguably the best rare of DOA, especially when there are top tier decks to play that don't use it (neither 1st place decks from Ascent Auckland and Ascent Houston used any copies of Dungeon Guide!). The card was also printed in several prints already - 1st Edition Starters came with two, Prelude packs had the chance to open them, and Event Packs can open them alongside Alter and 1st boosters.
      So, to answer your question, I don't think there is anything to solve! These are healthy prices indicating demand for competitive play, with *strong* options to skip the card if you don't want to spend on it.

    • @SkywalkFPV
      @SkywalkFPV 11 месяцев назад

      @@MaindeckGames Very interesting point of view that not only parallel should hold value (though I was talking about parallel should only have the option for 'expensive' value) so I do agree with just 15,- ish can be considered healthy for a demanding card, but I was assuming and expecting for this one to go up steep/expensive if it could not be pulled in Alter.. But very good to know they actually can be obtained in the Altered booster boxes like you said.. I was worried since I have not pulled one in there and after watching a few unboxing they also did not pull one o.0.. And very good to know that the card is not that meta dependent, like I was told by others.. These things could have spiked prices fast.. I could adjust my initial comment if that would be for the better? I am just trying to add some of my viewpoints here and there where maybe others could also find themselves looking and wondering around.. Thank you for reaching out!
