- This amazing 200-year-old, Grecian-style harp was beautifully restored by Steffan Jones workshop in North Wales. It is one of the first double action pedal harps by Sebastien Erard!
The Harmonious Blacksmith is the popular name of the final movement, Air and variations, of George Frideric Handel's Suite No. 5 in E major, HWV 430.
THE FERVENT AND ARDENT HEAT EMANATING FROM THE HARP, THE SOFT, LUMINOUS GLOW OF THE MELODY, THE ENCHANTING TOUCH ON THE STRINGS CREATE AN AMBIENCE THAT IS SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!!!V.W.
Vivian Wilson thank you for your magical words, making the harp appear even more magical ⭐️
OH MY GOD YOU ARE TRULY UNIQUE
...the best harpist i've ever heard ツ
Liked your playing and vid. Very nice to listen to. Well done. 👍
Thanks so much ❤️
Sight and sound 🎵🎶💓of the harp ! So sweet to the ears ! But also the skill of the harpest !
Thanks william :)
Beautiful playing, tune and such a treat to hear this harp played
Keith Seagull thank you for your kind words! It is a delight to play an instrument with such unique history indeed ❤️
This was so beautiful! I'm glad I got to hear the harp in action. To give an idea how old this harp is, the first people who listened to it were alive during the last years of pre-Industrial Europe.
Thanks so much Matthew for your nice comment as always - and love the historical perspective :) it’s crazy to think this harp is now entering the fourth industrial revolution and the digitalisation era! I am so impressed by the work the harp makers did to bring this instrument back to life.
@@mariannebouvettemusic I'm glad they restored the harp. It's really fun to talk about and research history and hear old instruments. I once saw a video about an old organ from the 15th century that was built back when the Byzantine empire still existed and the Moors still controlled Spain. Other than a few minor restorations and repairs, it's the exact same organ that was played 600 years ago.
Are you looking forward to spring? I'm starting to post some spring-themed music at this point.
@@mariannebouvettemusicit sounds so beautiful. I heard another harpist play on one of these early harps and that one sounded beautiful also. I think this is how the harp is supposed to sound. I wish we made them the same way now.
Lovely composed. So beautifully played!
Thank you so much for your kind words! Isn’t baroque music wonderful ? :)
Wow! A harp that's almost 200 years old, and making beautiful music !!! Suddenly i feel not-so-old myself! A beautiful harp, and as ever, you play it beautifully! I love all the explorations of the Harmonious possibilities! The tone of that harp is so sweet and amazing, and you know how to set its possibilities free. Wow, and Thank You.
Thanks for your kind words Patricia, so glad you enjoyed this! I was thinking exactly the same - this dignified 200 year old lady makes me feel very young in comparison :) I find antique harps absolutely fascinating for their distinctive beauty and for the amazing history they carry, but it is hard to find playable antique harps that sound as good as they look, so I immediately fell in love with this one. It takes a bit of adjustment to play it - it feels lightweight compared to a modern harp, string tension is much lighter and the string spacing is narrower, but I love how the rich bass strings resonate and how the upper strings “glisten”! Thanks again for your nice comment and appreciation ❤️
Marianne it is really amazing!!! You played so lovely and perfect. Thank you for sharing it with us. And your new Golden Lady sounds really wunderful!! Yours Nicole xxx
Thanks so much dear Nicole ❤️ this harp is truly magical. It feels actually very manageable because the string tension is low and it is somewhat smaller and lighter than today’s harps! I hope it will keep ageing happily here in Belgium :)
@@mariannebouvettemusic i think she is very happy in you professional hands. She got a very nice home and owner😉.
Fantastic that she has a lower string tension. This makes it very comfortable.
All the best to you and your harps!
Awesome tune on your harp. :)
Thanks so much George :)
