from the R+M Video collection... Jello Biafra speaks on "Politcally Correct" This was from the Candian show Much Music. The interview was from April 1990. Enjoy
“when i made my raps, hardcore rap.. people said ‘you cant curse on records, you cant do that’..im like fuck it, thats just how i’m living...but it was embraced by sooo many like WOW, theirs alot of little badass kids out there ya dig”. Ice-T
The interviewer seemed to have been immensely baffled by Jello's dialogue. The face shows much indulgence towards Jello. I mean, who wouldn't wanna hear this guy talk? He's got reason, veracity and respect.
Yeah, there's a lot of comments on here about him talking over or baffling the interviewer, I think Michael Williams just was genuinely enjoying seeing a white guy talking about this stuff that concerned him. Sometimes the choir needs a sermon.
Michael was a great interviewer/catalyst, and Jello is an amazing speaker... I doubt this went over too well for low-attention-span Muchmuzak... Great interview!!!
Jellö Just darted in and melted that Man's mind! XD classic XD I wonder if D.K. ever toured with G.G. or Murder junkie Merle? I wish I could grow an afro. :(
Michael Williams was a great interviewer for Muchmusic, and putting him in the same room as Jello requires a very long attention span... but important none the less!
I watched this interview live when MuchMusic originally this. I knew this interview was going to be aired later in the day, music or college hmmm?? music won that day :)
Seems like a lot of the same stuff he was talking about is still going on but worse. You have people like Dave Rubin and Ben Shapiro spewing ignorant views while Donald Trump tries to overthrow democracy.
I'm gonna put my money on MTV circa 1991 (since this must be from then rather than 1990, due to the rodney king reference) not having the balls to put Jello on the air, not to mention that they banned most of PE's videos from regular rotation. Plus Canadian TV obviously has no problem with "fuck" being on the air, which makes it inherently more freeminded than the FCC-regulated American airwaves, but then again these days it doesn't matter thanks to the internet and the fact that most people don't even have cable anymore
There's a lot of wisdom to what Jello says, but his head is also kinda up his ass. He's the kinda guy who'd keep talking long after the conversation is over, and you're trying to go home xD Love his old music though. Sadly though, both he and DK lost out when they booted him.
@WestisBest Biafra's clearly having fun while speaking about serious issues---I don't get the feeling that he's taking himself seriously at all----I love what he said about how rap and the racial divisions of corporate radio, because that was so true. I recall being heavy into these same issues around rock 'n roll and race back then---I was pretty young then and not as politically educated as I am now. Still fun to listen to,though.
@WesiisBest Enough of this liberal-hating bullshit---I think some of you wanna-be Rethugs are just spouting the GOP line you soaked up from FOX News. Go screw yourselves, since you're rather let the Tea Party think for you than actually have an original thought in your damn heads. Ooh, how scary that is!
As a pioneer against the New World Order Martial Law Police State, I wonder why Jello Biafra has never been a guest on the Alex Jones radio show. It would be amazing to hear what those two would have to talk about in this current age.
Could not have said it better. Seems you possess a little bit of Jelloness yourself :) Btw Jelloness is grammatically correct according to youtube lol. Who knew? Your comment has apparently elevated Biafra to the level of verb. He is no longer just a noun.
Oh man. people like this really need to learn that no one has fun when it's a one sided conversation. the whole time you can tell the interviewers like planning his exit strategy. not saying jellos not brilliant but he does fail at the conversation
@@Deeznutseighthundredthirty I'm not talking about what he has to say. I'm talking about him masturbating for hours while people just smile, nod, and then fall asleep
what would u prefer the opposite!! (i do get what cha sayin, but i'd rather hear jello over an interviewer) Which i hate when the interviewer see's themselves more important/funnier or better than the artist whom u want to hear ie in UK 90s show with intertviews done in a bar? 1 i remember particually was with the extremly funny HENRY ROLLINS, she spent the whole interview talking over and tryng and failing too be funnier, cos henry rollins on british tv was extremly rare on uk tv & ruined it da
"The thought police are the feminists" he questions sarcastically....lol what an ignoramus. I wonder if he still today believes that feminists are not thought police.
They are not. The only ones who think so and the ones who thought so at the time were and are still the same kind of brain dead flag waving right wingers who are desperate to bring 50s American values back.
@@spoonlustproductions4100 The feminists and left are the ones who invented cancel culture. Desperately running around trying to get people fired and banned. Hilarious... This poor V.J couldn't get a word in edge wise. Biafra's brain must run on rocket fuel.
Dude definitely has ADHD. I get like this when I have my "mania" days.
Effervescent.
Hilarious watching him talk endlessly while the guy tries to get in a question. 🤣😂
the best jello interviews are the ones where he gets to ramble
@@LilyBrownlivingforEGG totally agree.
"You're not supposed to have any attitude when you're young. You're just supposed to go to business school, shut up, and shop."
lol the interviewer was lovin the knowledge bombs!
I was a little kid when this video was made, and it just amplifies that I don't want to live in a world that doesn't have this guy in it.
"Go to business school...shut up....and shop!"
Get a job....shut up...and shop. Yes...folks...this is the Murican Way.
Never seen Jello with a beard. He looks a little like Serj Tankian.
+Eris Tiamat That was exactly on my mind!
You should see him as the border agent in Terminal City Ricochet.
Serj mixed with Dennis Miller, mayhaps? LOL
That goatie only got longer and more beautiful. I find it amazing you've never seen him with one?
He had it for a minute.
Fitting considering how much of an influence Jello was on Serj’s vocal style.
Nomeansno...DOA... Lard... Amazing projects. These were great years.
great interview! one note: this is from 1991 or later; the Rodney King beating, mentioned around 9:40, happened in March 1991.
I think he's a year off - April 1991 seems right, as he talks about things that had just happened around then. That newsweek issue is early 1991.
“when i made my raps, hardcore rap.. people said ‘you cant curse on records, you cant do that’..im like fuck it, thats just how i’m living...but it was embraced by sooo many like WOW, theirs alot of little badass kids out there ya dig”. Ice-T
God...The Simpsons. If Family Guy or South Park was around back then,I don't think anyone would have a problem with the Simpsons.
1984: big brother is watching
Sometimes he reminds me of Terence Mckenna, I can't put my finger on it, the way he puts his sentences together lol.
wow, you're totally right. It's the timbre of his voice and the way he talks. and the way they can just talk forever.

Saw this the first time it aired, skipped school ;)
The interviewer seemed to have been immensely baffled by Jello's dialogue. The face shows much indulgence towards Jello. I mean, who wouldn't wanna hear this guy talk? He's got reason, veracity and respect.
its michael williams and he knows EXACTLY what he is talking about

Love to listen to jello on information highway
Michael was a great interviewer/catalyst, and Jello is an amazing speaker... I doubt this went over too well for low-attention-span Muchmuzak... Great interview!!!
Absolute weapon of a man.
I would marry Jello Biafra in a fucking heartbeat.
he'll be doing all the talking then :P
This man is ahead of this time
He's so awesome

The album with NoMeansNo is as great as anything with DK!
I love Jello!
Jello rocks! 30 years later, Jello is more relevant than ever! Jello is 10x more eloquent and intelligent than POTUS#45.
There's always room for Jello!
JB isn’t your typical artist......he has brains
When he got going he could not stop
first time I see a video with him having a beard when he was young 😂😂
Michael Williams was a great interviewer for Muchmusic, and putting him in the same room as Jello requires a very long attention span... but important none the less!
At first I thought he was ripping on Public Enemy. I listened a bit more and it seems that he supports their message.
omg ..look ...It's Jello Beardafra
Jello always was ahead of the pack! Always interesting and informative.
There's smart, there's genius, and then there's Jello Biafra.
Theres woke, woke lord, and the ones who know that people just call themselves woke to make themselves feel better (Jello probably knows that).
@@McGillicuddy849 Jello is a fraud and would get cancelled by the same "woke" culture he promotes.
@@moralcompass3252 “cancelled” another word for “censored”, in which he is strongly against.

it’s frustrating i have to argue a lot of the same things 3 decades later

Still relevant today.

Wow this funny and informing
I like Jello, but every time he's in an interview, he takes over the entire thing and never lets the actual interviewer speak very much.
Its better than an interviewer trying to drag out answers from a monosyllablic shill who just wants to get back stage and do a couple of lines..
Gg allin, jello, and glen danzig
are you sure this is 1990? wasnt the rodney king incidint in march 1991? anyway. not a biggie. just checkin.
The interviewer almost fainted @3:00. He can't handle it.
I wonder if the producers deliberately picked an interviewer that resembled D.H. Peligro . . . not that it wasn't an appropriate choice .
