How to Unroot Android Smartphone or Tablet! [Universal Guide]

- Here's how to unroot your Android smartphone or tablet, works on any Android device. This is a universal guide on how to remove the SU binaries and Superuser.apk file using ES File Explorer in root mode.
This will unroot and remove root completely off your Android smartphone or tablet. Should work on 99% of Android devices on market right now.
What it won't do is remove ClockworkMod recovery if you installed it. You will have to do that separately after unrooting.
But if you are on stock rooted ROM with no recoveries installed, this method will unroot your phone. You can do a factory reset after unrooting if you want to return your phone for warranty.
Files you need to remove:
/system/bin/su
/system/xbin/su
/system/app/Superuser.apk
That's it!

I saw the file in my sd card now i don't know what i'm going to delete because there are files in xbin ,su ,su v1,su v2,and su v3. But when i opened the bin there
is no su. In application supruserwas inside.
Hey @zedomax in the 'SuperSU' app there is an option 'Full unroot', Does it work? Or will root be installed every time my Galaxy Note reboots? The root I installed was one of your videos ( I did not install clockwork recovery etc)

I'm so sorry, I just noticed that I can't delete the SU file, Whenever I try to delete it, it will say cannot delete SU file and take me to a link that is in Japanese! Please help me on this issue!

How do I unroot my phone when I rooted it by using kingroot and I can't delete it the isu file
+Daniel Rea try to search with es explorer all the files named king then delete them ,there are some that you cant but delete every files named king that you can then reboot and see
Me 2 I used kingroot I went to kingroot and I unrooted it in the settings but then it still said I was rooted

I can't seem to delete su file in the xbin cos of the "Operation not permitted" thing...
I unrooted with kingroot I went to settings and pressed uninstall it said are you sure you want to in root I clicked yes but when I went to update my tablet it still said this device has been modified in a anuthrrozied use smart switch and people say use smart switch on a computer to fully unroot plz help!!!! :(

Yeah like you said, my droid 4 doesnt have su file in system/bin, but i did find it in system/xbin. Now, droid4 did not have clockwork mod recovery, it used safestrap. so long as i remove su file, will this erase root form my fone so i can get warranty?

How do I know if I unrooted my phone? I basically followed directions but there wasnt a su file in bin only in xbin. I know u mentioned they dont have to be in all those locations but just trying to verify. I also went into titanium app and it still opens.
I need help! When i open the settings on ES File Explorer and click on root explorer, it tells me that su will give me a pop up but all my phone does is says feature can not be used on my phone. I tried updating the SU binary but that also failed because it said it couldnt find the previous binary. Help?

Hey i have a rooted motorola motoluxe running 2.3.7. When i rooted it all i did was delete a bunch of system apps (junk) to free up space and also to move apps to the sd storage. will your method of unrooting work in this case? im not sure what you mean when you say ClockworkMod recovery. i dont remember installing something with that name

Thegamernr11, are you talking about the su files he talks about deleting? If so I just went through like he did and deleted the files, restored to stock room and updated to JB from sd card. Rooted JB the other day also so no complaints. Only problem I was having was "Unfortunately, Motorola services has stopped" fc screen kept popping up but after a day or so it stopped. JB is running perfectly on my basic 16gb razr.

Hey i wanna know something.. Im getting the LG Optimus zip from straighttalk. And this phone is capible of hotspot but straight talk disabled it. If i root and enable and host a hotspot for my friends that only have an ipod touch... 1. Will i get in trouble with straight talk. 2. Will i be able to completely unroot then? 3. Hey max, i have the resurrection remix rom installed on my galaxy s2 i9100 with the custom cm kernel from the installer. I wish to restore my phone to stock and it would be awesome if you could do a tutorial on how to do it because im afraid that if i reflash the stock file with odin, it will brick my phone. thx
