Lara allows the audience to sing the first voice.
The pianist begins to play according the singing of the crowd.
Lara sings the second voice and follows the singing of her fans and dances withe her voice around the singing of her fans.
So emotional and do well done.
Lara is in every concert that she gives always very connected with the audience.

K Lara was facing hard times , both on the personal (health, love betrayal and breakup) and professional (her progress blocked in the US by her own record company) sides.
Her fanbase knew most of it and wanted to show support and they used this song, one of her biggest hits in France, replacing the title” Je t’aime / I love you” by “On t’aime / We love you”.
I love how Lara, after the initial surprise, establishes a beautiful dialog with the crowd, giving them room to sing with her.
It shows how benevolent and humble she is.
The song itself is a gem, it was as I said one of her songs that reached the top 10 in France charts. But it even grew bigger after it and has become now a french classic, her most iconic french song. It is still attracting a lot of covers from the young french and canadian vocalists generation (Amir, Jeck, …). Most frenchmen know the song by heart.
Surprisingly, it was also a massive success in russia and eastern europe: she became a superstar there thanks to it (and 15 years before her lengthy collaboration with Igor Krutoy that extended this even further) and the song is a MUST in russian karaoke and a recurrent in russian singer contests.
Again many covers of this songs from eastern europe talents: Polina Gagarina, Sevara Nazarkhan, Katerina Maslova, Natalia Tsarikova, …
As always with her biggest hits, Lara has performed it in many different ways:
    • Intense and powerful at World Music Awards 1999,
    • Subtle and delicate in her En Toute Intimité 2003 tour.
    • Classy and moving, performing with 2 vertebrae broken, at Royal Albert Hall in London (2011)
    • Jazzy in a recent perf (2018) with a band from Quebec
The lyrics are also mesmerizing. Despite the title, it is not a classic love song but a breakup song instead.
“Je t’aime” was written by Lara Fabian and Rick Allison, her longtime music producer and composer. He also had been her boyfriend for a few years, at the start of her career. This song was written when their love evolved to a friendship and a professional relationship . It speaks about a couple splitting while still having a lot of sentiments one for the other.

Here is a short story behind that performance: Lara had some serious problems in her professional and personal life at that time (2000-2002); She even had suicidal thoughts. Her fans knew about that and they wanted to express their love and support to Lara on her concert in Paris. A group of Lara’s fans approached her pianist and musical director Pierre Grimard before the concert and agreed that they will begin to sing that song "Je T'aime" before Lara. When they sang for her they changed the words «Je t'aime" (I love you) to “On t’aime” which means “WE love you”. The entire audience (more than 6000 people!) sang for her !!! Later Lara said that at that moment she realized the beauty of life, and that it’s really worth living it.

It was a song about her and her former partner who was also her professional partner. They broke up and it is about regrets about how they broke up and her longing for him. She went through depression and contemplated suicide and stopping singing because she thought life was not not worth living.
Her fans set that up with the pianist to surprise her and cheer her up.

The crowd is so involved. Full heartedly. Then she harmonizes with the crowd creating the magic. She brings happiness and joy and there’s nothing better than that.

It's funny how you turned in the same direction as Lara did simultaneously and made the comment about the wind as it also seemed the wind machine was blowing in her face. I had to rewind a little just to see if it was intentional - and it wasn't! Great reaction, as always, btw!

The traduction of the subtitles is a bit all over the place, with too many words ( ex: they wrote « in a small building that looks like a stone house » but just said « in This house of stones… » if i remember correctly there is another version of this , same vidéo with better subtitles…

The song english subtitles are SO BAD they sometimes almost felt fictionnals, diconnected from the original lyrics. I guess they were AI generated.
I felt sad for you Lee, it really is a beautiful song but those awful subtitles deprived you of half of it's meaning.

Love your reaction but I wish you would have seen the version that is out there with the right translation cause this one really wasn't created by someone who understands French... It's too bad cause she is such a great composer and this translation changes way too many sentences senses.. I found you one if you are ever interested :) ruclips.net/video/7PZTuXavzS0/видео.html
