Pretty fantastic model, Lee! 😃 Awesome flying and review!!! You know, I just remembered about a post from AndyRC on Facebook that he was looking for an original fun cub... So I sent him the link of your video! 😃 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I have the previous version. It's a navy blue color and looks to be identical to this one. Hopefully they lengthened the tail wheel push rod link that attaches to the rudder. Had to add a bit of weight to the nose of mine. Hoping this landing gear set will be available to replace mine with. Nice video!
So Jelly. I don't often go crazy over HK stuff, especially lately, but come on.... This is the best rendition of the J-3 I've seen in many moons. How's the clarity on the canopy plastic? Would a 180-degree servo and FPV cam find a nice home in there?
The fake motor, prop, & plastic pieces that need to be glued on, are very reminiscent of the HK SlowPoke. Possibly they come from the same factory. I like the SlowPoke, but it has issues. I hope this version of the J Cub doesn’t suffer from similar problems.
I have two of the Navy Cub versions which look the part but not for long . Even handling the foam can dent it and remove the paint. Apart from that and the weak LG I still love 'em! Not confident about the look of that LG though! Time will tell :) Enjoyable video as usual though-thanks!
INAV setup would be exactly the same as the steps in the INAV for beginners series and I've added FPV to dozens of planes on the channel already (and shown how to do PAN servos for FPV) so not sure what there would be new.. Thanks for the suggestion..
Hi Mr. P Great video and review of the Hobby king J3 CUB. I just was looking at this model last week. Me and my friends are just started flying in a new area and it's big enough for flying airplanes. I just purchased the TEST FLIGHT, Freedom fox, and I purchased a Quantum pan/tilt gimbal on top. But when I looked at this plane I was wondering what the video was going to look like. One of my friends has purchased the Tundra and I thought the J3 Cub would look great. But I just heard of one problem, the wing ? Will not break down is a problem for me. I use my wheelchair to get me around and I have a little trailer that I have all I need to fly all day. I just don't think that it would fit.
If we get some more flying with it soon (and I remember to press record on my goggles!) I'll post some footage. Very flyable from 'inside' the cockpit with FPV..
Hi Lee. I'm looking for a nice, casual plane to fly when not flying combat or Wing Racing. My battery collection is mostly 3S 2200's. Would this plane fly well on a 3S 2200 or would I be better off with the Tundra V2? Thanks.
Looks ideal for a cockpit mounted pan tilt😎
Pretty fantastic model, Lee! 😃

very nice plane, like the pan camera set up. stay safe Lee
Great review, I like the upgrades, the original needed it.
Great review mate and very pretty model

FMS makes one in the same 1.4m size and it is nicer looking. Both flies great.
when taking off on grass you need to have full up elevator at all times until liftoff , this is why u kept noseing in right away on takeoff.

Lovely model, has everything going for VLOS work. Having said that, how about some follow up video with mods to Inav and FPV? Please...

Nice looking plane, I have the original J3 Navy Cub with the fragile landing gear, I wonder if I could retro fit this gear, is the fairing metal too?
Hello Yes they are interchangeable. Stuart
great review as always!
Great video my friend. Big salute from Slovenia, Pilot Robert
Many thanks - love your stuff too! :D
P.S. I've passed on your channel details to a cool new manufacturer that you may find fun!
@@Painless360 Thanks. Cant imagine better hobby.
@@Painless360 I will search.
how clear is the windscreen for FPV? and you going to FPV it?
Excellent review
You say you needed a little touch of up trim to fly level. What was it like Power Off / Power full ?
Very neutral from the flying we've done here... This isn't a speed machine but a nice cruiser..
@@Painless360 Thank`s 👍
Good looking plane! Is the glazing distortion free for FPV?

The tundra and this fly very similar. My two favourite wings - AtomRC Dolphin and DIATONE Ripper can run 3s too... Happy flying
On 3s this Swiss J3 lacks in performance so IMHO 4s is needed for it to swing.
Postage to Aus put a stop to buying it.
Is presently available from Aussie warehouse.
