They should’ve called it quits years ago after they broke their original arrangement regarding moving the band forward but I agree.

I know Rickey's guitar was just tuned wrong, but it's almost like they couldn't do this song without Gary, but, took a deep breath, and got it going. This whole concert was hard, you could hear every song, it sounded like Johnny was close to breaking down.
I also believe they didn’t have anyone play the part Gary would normally play at the start of the song
Amen, you can see Ricky wiping his eyes several times through the concert especially during tuesdays gone and simpleman

I know this was the first performance without Gary Rossington but you can really tell without Gary that it's a little off, but I'm sure of course they were all upset and to the point of breaking down, as it would be hard for any of us to play or hear the solos that someone that close only done, truly is a great loss to us all, but I know Gary was in constant pain and now he is Finally free of pain and free of the hurt he has carried for years, Fly on Free Bird you Finally free and Finally home on that beautiful stage in heaven with your freebird brothers and sisters again. I know the goodlord has got the greatest band in heaven now playing it pretty for eternity. R.I.P. GARY ROSSINGTON you will live on forever in our memories, thank you for signing my Gary Rossington edition les paul at the Tuscaloosa meet and greet!!!
It was a little off even with Gary. These guys were never Lynyrd Skynyrd. Even Gary said they were a cover band. They should have been called "The Gary Rossington and a Bunch of Other Guys Playing Skynyrd songs Band". Now they are just a bunch of guys playing Skynyrd songs and they aren't even all that good.
The first 20 seconds fittingly represents this Skynyrd without Gary, but the version ends up sounding better instrumentally than it has in the last few years
It’s not the original band who spent hundreds of ours practicing in Hell house. They need to tighten up the music. The whole concert was a little off. Several times Johnnie was singing off key like his in ear monitors were turned off.
@@Av8or7 I feel like they got sloppier since 2020 but that's bc they didn't have Gary, since then they've been kinda lost. Thankfully I was one of the lucky ones who got to see Gary's last performance of the 2019 tour, and ever in California, can't believe I'm saying it but everybody was on that night, so tight, maybe not as tight as 40 years ago but I'm only 23 so I'm lucky to have gone at all
@@zoramirez-jv9hj they need to hire me to help them tighten up. They need a task master to help them. Ronnie wouldn’t have let them get on stage like that.
@@Av8or7 man! Fr I've been saying I can play Gary's parts better than Damon Johnson and definitely this song simple man and Tuesdays gone, he misses like half the notes in each song

If I remember correctly they did the same with Ed King when he passed away and they were mid tour.

They’re playing it bad to show what the band would be like without Gary and nobody is playing Gary’s part
They sounded like shit, with Johnny dining off-key many times, and Sparky being the only guitarist hitting it note for note.
The guitars aren’t in tune and they’re playing it and to show what the band would be like without Gary plus nobody is playing his part
