- Ice Caves was brutal at first but it became one of my favorite maps for HR so quickly. Here's my short journey and discussion on HR and how I got Demi-god.

I love how large Ice Caves feel, and the extracts are great. We need more of this, honestly. I still hate the obsession with AP farming, though.
Unfortunately, there are really cool rewards for AP ranks. This has made me play in ways that I hate playing. I've only ever hit exemplar playing with the playstyle enjoy (killing people). Now I've just been playing ruins and staying in the locusts and healing as cleric so I can AP farm in crypts. It's really really lame tbh. I don't think they should have the best reward be demi-god. It kills the feel of the game once you get to pathfinder. Nobody wants to fight and everybody is just AP farming.

I came back to this video to finish watching it and I gotta say. In regards to the ap rewards, why aren't they items to buy with gold during that season? You can spend the gold incrementally on say the cape skin. Some crazy amount. 200k for all I care. 500k. Maybe just give special portraits to demigod players or something. Not the REALLY cool stuff. I am close to demigod, but still.
My only advice for ppl trying to farm this map is to avoid the loot pile in the center, there's a least 2/3 rogues rushing this module each game, often with good kits and ready to landmine anybody that comes close

Just get ready for StankmanJones(top 100 solo rogue) to jump you hes there 24/7
I was lucky that most of players I queque with often dont do the pile or dont know how to lol, sometimes even joined forces and each grabbed a slice and went their own ways

Started at the first level of high roller now I’m pretty much pathfinder 3 after 2 days. Map is perfect for grinding especially with some maps have 2 lions heads and a lot of boxes. I average about 600ap a game at the moment.
Wow man. Fighter gets so much AP. Tiny bit harder on cleric, but still doable. Even with ice caves locked to duos now. You can solo and still do this.
Ice caves have filled up i was chilling in there all week and now the duos are rolling in for sure
Yep, everyone is catching on. Also, the 6 extra mins going gives everyone a chance to venture over and force some pvp. There are no early escapes except boats... So you can force players into bad spots.
I never thought about swapping my gear out mid-raid and leaving it behind for extra AP, that will help with my grind!

I am exemplar 1. Ice caves is best because you die on ruins and lose twice the ap, that's the map I've been teamed on the most as well
It became maddening for me on ruins... Such a grind/long session too.
now that you mention it, I've never seen teamers on this map either, this is what made me stop grinding on my main and play "for fun" only
@@Mojenn__ no one had time for that shit, plus people will steal your extract in a heartbeat.. had a guy play friendly then try to sprint into my extract!
here after the latest wipe. i HATED ice caves when it first dropped, but now its my fav map, bar inferno. My extraction rate is extremely high! There was PVP if u want it, but most of the time you're looting and clearing. I really love the layout, its so well thought out. Being kind to me AP-wise too
I've been gaining 680+ running ice caverns on my warlock. flame walk and clear rooms for ez AP and loot. with such a high mob density here , nothing clears these rooms faster than a lock. try it out.

I started learning how to play longsword fighter after being a (filthy) ranger main for 5 months, and just by playing Ice Cavern I got higher in rank than my main, omw to Demi-god I hope
Do it, first ever HR rewards will be nice to have.

Agreed, the ice map has been slept on since they removed the map timer and increased the time on the ice map. The player density is way lower, and lots of low geared player show up too just to not go ruins and fight BIS. Just clearing the A1,B1,C1&C2 rooms on the map consistently been giving me 1k(-300entry) on exemplar up to demigod.
I struggle to get AP in the ice caves. I clear huge rooms and it seems like not much loot is there. Always get landmine'd at the loot pile. How are you achieving this? I'm probably just noobing it up somehow.
@@hobosnake1 I always take luckpot and try and find the lions head chests. Like near the end of the video I also swap a lot of gear. I've heard on warlock this map is crazy cause the can flamewalk and get a lot of AP from mob kills to
@@hobosnake1 Luckpot is always required, every room should have at least 1 big chest like lions or gold you can get loot and ap for opening, you should bring lockpicks incase.
Never pick up anything lower than green, even coins. Breaking chests dosent get affected by luck stat so always open them if you are barb. Break all the boxes and barrels though.
Additionally to my first comment, rooms D1,E1 both have a wendigo you can cheese in E1. E2 also has a Giant you can get into E1 for the cheese spot for extra ap. If you find nothing good you can always pick up purple gear, its not as good ap as treasure but its better than grey and coins.
Majority of your ap will come from good chests opened, shrine interactions and the treasure you extract with. The pve without bosses is basically worthless, and even with bosses and ok loot you will only get like +300ap(after entry fee) if you do D1E1 rooms only. You can also try to bypass pyramid by rushing the breakable floor spot for the royal coffin for some extra ap but its a busy area right with proximity to the loot pile as that's where people go to extract from it.
@@hobosnake1 take blue items + swap some better ones with the ones u wear, 1 room is usually enough for good value full eq
ABSOLUTE FACTS! exemplar 1 in ruins too expensive! But Ice caves ability to camp an extract can let the Demigod be possible, top right hand spawn was my favorite. Also CONGRATS! Got that Cape Brother🤘

people saying "gO rUiNs EAsY aP" when entrence fee is like -750 points on exemplar 3 lmao :"jUsT fArm BosSes" and you still at only like 300+ points after like an hour of gameplay
top right and top left are my favorites too.. bottom left or middle left after the 18 minute change is alright too.. People mostly leave you alone
I am currently trying to climb to demi with a trio in ice caves i find it the most reliable to not fight the people in full gold/ uniques you get fair fights without having to play turbo passive in ruins.
So I recently learned that purple looted gear is more ap than green treasure, and blue treasure is more than purple looted gear. Hope that helps
I had almost 1:1 experience with farming AP as you, during the "teaming" period of ruins I went into exemplar and stopped grinding at that, then they announced changes and rewards and I was mad at myself thinking "I'll never get the cloak now with hostile lobbies" so I've been playing rotation for a few days and it was going so so, but there always was a problem, I got unlucky in ice caves and didnt know what to do quite well, in goblin caves it was escape/ portal issues + players, and in ruins it was incredible geared and hostile players + almost 0 AP gain even if I left ruins with full eq of treasure
Now after the last update I feel like ice caves became "the new friendly lobby" with people just farming to get the capes, it FAAAR easier to escape/rat/avoid players, but even then players are quite friendly and dont go in each othrs way and sometimes even help, like once I chatted a fighter how to cheese certain wendingo and we had a nice talk, a the other time and looted the gold pile with others players and even escaped with them on the same raft (one cleric even told me he betrayed someone on that raft when we were escaping but I wear full PDR plate and more often than not it seems to be a strong deterant lmao)
Now for the first time ever somewhat consistantly loot the gold pile if I spawn next to it and I'm at around 33000 point now, planning to do my last push in upcoming days and then come back after the wipe, good luck for all the AP farmers out there, you can make it if you try!

UPDATE. I just hit demigod, shoutout to cleric I've met and with whom I looted the pile two times (second time I was late for the party but he was great enough to give me some quality treasure and didnt want anything in return)
my highest goblin caves run was on slayer fighter i got out with 750ap i still don’t know how lol. i just looted everything i saw was real nitpicky with what i grabbed. but i will say i can get out of ice caverns with 300-700 ap a run almost for free every game. unless i run into the “fake teamers” lol. i dont team but i also respect the crouch. sometimes it gets me killed.
If ice caves works for you go right ahead… but personally killing cave troll and lotting pile is what got me to demigod.. averaging around 800-1000 ap per game
Yea, I just don't like how campable troll is by rogues etc... also sometimes the spawn you get doesn't give you time.

I've got about 10 days left, I'm in wanderer currently in solo. Is it possible to hit demi god still?
its quite an effort against time... Solo goblin in the only constant playable solos map. It can be done but sadly getting ice caves is much more rare now solo.
pull up a goblin caves map while playing, prioritize statics as portals are so random there. Id try like 4-5 games and see how much success you have.. i nearly quit but got lucky I could play ice map every hour.
how many matches / hours roughly do u think it takes to get from wanderer to demi?
@@jert3342 if you can get 300/run consistently then it's not too difficult to do the math. Just depends on how well you do really. I'm speaking about goblin caves now which apparently there is a bug where final portals are not spawned

What’s the reason for swapping out every piece of gear as much as you can? Does it really give you a lot of AP?

@@ItsTharvas I think it's like 24 g for greens.. maybe I'm wrong. But purples are like 10g per slot. You throw on a purple double ace and you are getting like an extra 60-90ap.
why is ice caves the new meta, 20 minutes for 300 ap and the loots kinda ass when ruins if you extract in crypts you can get 1000+ for the same duration game?
its safe, and almost always have an exit. usually spawns open much earlier than the 18min timer. So, 15mins now in and out.
@@WilsonsGame ah okay makes sense, ive only played the map a couple times, the first time playing it me and my friend had no idea portals came up so about 20 seconds before the storm closes we are running around looking for an escape, we both died to blizzard and lost two good kits lmao i havent played it much since, we didnt know about the raft or elevator so maybe its time to learn the map

If you trying to farm AP I suggest gathering all the blue above items + treasure and getting out quickly,, you get like +300 (+600 on lowest rank) points consitently and can sometimes even do it in 4 minutes when u spawn in raft room (you clear it and take the first raft that spawns, they apparently spawn every 4 minutes) so make use of that and go farm that sweet sweet AP
that's 90% of what I discussed in the video
