This video explores the new wizard perk that came with ignite buffs in the latest dark and darker hotfix. Staff Mastery adds 5 magical damage to the staff you have equipped, which makes you deal extra magic damage that scales with your will/staff magic damage. Add ignite on top and now you can get 65 damage in base kit gear with melee wizard. Arcane shield and defensive perks such as reactive shield and ice shield make this build absolutely broken, and when geared undoubtedly the best solo class in the game right now. This will 100% get nerfed.

Resting gives ignites fast, I used 3 in pre lobby and had them back before 45sec before entering
hello. how some areas on goblin caves are so light for you compared to mine?
Ignite has always been decent but no one played specifically around it because you are a wizard, people want the caster fantasy not another melee bot.
Even now, in teams it is still more value to cast it on a Cleric or a BoC-Lock 90% of the time, and anyone crazy/skilled enough to properly main wiz in solos has the chops to play without it. Before it was like a "non-wizard-player" way to play wizard and not die to the first goblin you meet, but ultimately was a crutch that didn't teach you to get better at wizard, so there was no real point in using it as a main build. Now it's a little weird seeing as the highest skill-floor class in Solos just got a viable/competitive brain-dead bonk build.

What are you talking about, lots of ppl played ignite wizard. They stopped after it got nerfed to the ground on its initial nerf after early access patch #1. It was never worth playing after that because you had much more value being a util person in your group than actually going in with your melee and fighting.

What if they added wands. Wands of (different elements) which will be like a mini fireball, ice bolt, magic missile. They have 'ammo' or magic that can only be charged through meditate or rest(with a perk). Cant cast any spell with it out. Gives a new way for wizards to go out without spell memory?
I do feel like for this build specifically, any perk would be better to use than arcane mastery.
Sure, instant invis is nice, but ultimately if you don't also have magic missile equipped, you're not getting the full value out of the perk. Mana surge or even fire mastery would likely be a better choice.
Fire mastery definitely, as it directly impacts your melee ignite damage.

I'm hoping that we end up with mastery perks shared across all classes that can use a weapon type. They are kind of like feats in D&D anyway.

resting at a campfire increases SP recovery speed, but you're right you dont need a campfire it's just slower without it@@pearishgrape
I understand your frustration, when ppl say you "need" something even though you dont actually need it. In this case however a lot of wizard mains are complaining about how long it takes to regain spells while resting.

Dude, I had my geared warlock just get one shot by a wiz who went invis and just pop up in my face then head shot me. I was like what the F is going on?
I have found fire mastery and melt to be really great perks. Melt is fun, but PDR meta is lower than it used to be. Imo Zap is pretty bad compared to ice bolt, but it is hit scan. Fire mastery works with zap, bottles, ignite, fireballs, explosion and others.
Its time we show barbarians how we felt taste of their own medicine.

Battle mage is always been a fantasy class, rondel crystal ball wiz is still super viable too until IM makes our spells naturally regenerate over time so we can clear with them like warlock it’s ridiculous to restrict wiz to 1 playstyle when warlock can do anything including plate fighter style.
