That you think that them not revealing it here is the same as SAO not revealing it, and that you found it underwhelming for TF2 is... odd. The whole reason the SAO, "I don't remember" bit is bad is because it undermines the main antagonist of the whole story. It's quite simply a cop out that diminishes the whole. On the other hand, us knowing that the Administrator herself no longer remembers why is thematic to the story of TF2. The whole point of that was that her quest for vengeance is pointless. Her not knowing why emphasizes that fact. We see this theme again emphasized in the flashback itself.
Fnaf and tf2 now have more similarities like with Administrator torturing and keeping Zephinah Mann alive like Cassidy keeping William around to torture him after fnaf 6 and the ways the story ended with the story ending in peace
