      I have a friend that was in ordinance disposal in the army who is nearly a quadriplegic after a accident while disabling a IED and he's got a custom 4wd Ford van that's supercharged and lifted. I cant remember how many times I've had to tow him out of crazy spots. But I love doing it for him and knowing I'll be there has really helped him get his balls back so to speak, because before tow companies tried to rape him. Granted most went by the book on pricing for off road recovery. But even then it gets expensive and put a damper on his off roading. But knowing he doesn't have to worry has helped him really push his limits and I love doing it.

    For the owner of the car, in europe this car was sold as the Suzuki Vitara and there where 2 diesel variants available called the 1.9td and the 2.0d. Both where peugeot engines, the 1.9td was an older yet reliable and pretty torque-y engine with a bosch VE pump, loads of room to up the power and torque. The 2.0D is an electronicly controlled peugeot commonrail diesel unit that stock has about 110hp and loads of torque, wich can be flashtuned to about 145hp and 300nm of torque. Both can be coupled to the suzuki automatic gearbox. Just in case that 1.6L turns out to be underpowered and too revvy for offroading 😊

      @@s19149 Unless i am very mistaken, this is the peugeot commonrail unit i refer to, the 2.0L HDI engine. Mazda, just like ford, citroen, and many other brands relied heavily on the use of this engine. If im correct, the last mazda designed diesel of that era was the Comprex diesel.

      The peugeot 2.0 hdi diesel came in the later year second gen vitaras the first of these 2nd gen models still had an old school (rf) mazda turbo diesel engine as did the lwb first gen vitaras. The smaller swb 3dr ones could be got with the peugeot 1.9dturbo (xudt) engine these would be very rare where I'm from but I've seen one before.

    • @lukemcclelland1172
      @lukemcclelland1172 4 года назад

      To add to that, if you have replaced the engine you might want to check that the coolant manifold is the same as what came with the car. Because the motor is higher relative to the radiator the trackers/vitaras have different coolant manifolds than other cars with the G16B. The trackers/vitaras have an additional outlet.

      Mark Spohrleder when the 1989 Suzuki Swift GTI came out Civics SI couldn’t keep up, that didn’t last long but at its beginning it was a pocket rocket.

    I love it! I had one my uncle was going to scrap because the ignition cylinder locked up so drilled that out and used a screw driver because no one would steal it anyway. These are like the car version of a moped everyone hates on them but theyre possible the most fun you can have with a car because you find yourself saying I can jump that, what do you mean I cant drive on the sidewalk?

    WOW I haven't seen an FMU in years, didn't know they still made them. Bad way to add fuel, especially with today's add an injector control boxes and software, cheap, easy, and way more controllable and reliable then an FMU. But to each there own I guess. Man the cold start injector with an adjustable positive pressure switch was way better then an FMU.

    I never liked those style hand controls. The ones I have are next to the center console kinda like a handbrake and you pull for gas and push for brake. Also has a button and pushing it with the brakes on locks them so I don't have to hold the brakes if I'm stopped somewhere. It was a bit more expensive than the ones he has but they're way more comfortable.

      @@stinky15552The Nopi Nats was crazy times. But being a VW guy it was tough to hang back then. I never could make power like the Honda's but around 99 or so people went crazy when I came out with a AWD MK II Golf GTI. It killed them off the line yet the fast ones would pass me on the back half lol. I used a euro MK II golf Synchro shell that I swapped vins on lol because it was easier than swapping the pans. Then as I found the weak links I changed over to Haldex parts from a Audi TT Quattro. We had to custom wire a controller to fool the Haldex system allowing the car to turn the awd on and off. It was murder on the streets because so few knew it was awd because they'd see a fwd burnout ;-) Back then if you ran a 11 you where doing something, it's crazy to see how far things have come.
