I saw the London performance on the opening night (before the proper one with celebrities) and the whole audience absolutely loved it. We even cheered the chap who sweeped the stage during the interval. Best bit was the end when we all stood up and cheered the cast who looked very taken aback by the audience's huge response. It was fantastic.
OH MY GOD! THESE PEOPLE ARE AMAZING, ESPECIALLY HANNAH! I am SOOOOOOOOO impressed with how well these people sing just in rehearsal. OMG it takes my breath away. WOW! I had the chance to see Spamalot with Hannah Waddingham and Clay Aiken and it was such an amazing combo! I just love these two people. They are so talented and so is everyone else in this brillant show!
I've seen 2 or 3 productions of this (including a children's theatre version where God was played by a 9 year old girl - amazing!), but I'd really like them to release a DVD of the original cast.
Lucky you! I feel so stupid, living in London, walking by the Palace Theatre every week of my life and I managed to miss it when Tim Curry was in the show. I wanted to get best tickets with a glorious view instead of watching from the gods and time passed quickly and lost my chance. Grrr... Never again.
I saw the original cast on Broadway. Also, in english, we were watching the movie "Clue", and Tim Curry was in that, so it was weird to see him as young as he was then, and he is a lot older now.
United States. I believe formally in March 2005 (correct me if I'm wrong). London saw the arrival of Spamalot in October 2006. In both places, Broadway and the West End (London) Tim Curry was King Arthur.
I was supposed to be there, that night......ahhh, couldn't go in the end...long story. I'm glad you had a great time, one of those 'once in a lifetime' opportunities in the theatre world :)
The Palace Theatre, now home to Priscilla - Queen of the Desert. (I wish shows here In New York put things on top of our marquees, like the Grail or a stiletto)
Anyone interested in the full 45 minute show, please, do send me a message and I will reply you will the link to the entire documentary for the making of Spamalot. It is uploaded on a different website. I cannot post links here, so a Private Message is the only way. Cheers!!
Aw, yes . . . I see what you mean! My bad. Oops! He was a very funny and kind guy. I loved chatting with him. I worked an an agency that represented him.
Sometimes he reminds me of Brendan Fraser, mainly with the wig when he pulls those funny faces in 'The Song That Goes Like This' (Brendan Fraser in George Of The Jungle)
This is a documentary focused on the making of Spamalot, so is more about Eric Idle, the Pythons, ideas that were never used and some bits about actors. Tim Curry's bits are pretty much all here, with the exception of a couple comments he made. I can send you by Private Message a link where you can find the whole show, which is 45 minutes long and is really great. You should see it!
I'm not sure it works in London. I heard that half the jokes in it are about Broadway. Then again, obscure cultural references never stopped some of us Americans from liking Monty Python.
sara is better id say but my aunt was a costume person on the us tour when hannah and some of the cast came over, it was excellent, then i saw sara and them in shubert both shows were out standing
@eleanorpowell2007 Sorry, I do not think there is a way. Anyway I am not savvy with that sort of thing. To correct my self it is not UNO that is another interview I found. The one I found is from American Theater Wing.
Did Tim returned to England for this show? I always assumed that the equally excellent Peter Davison was cast, since, Tim decided to stay in the States.
My version of knights of the round table at my college I’m not in it who’s in it is King Arthur Patsy Sir Robin Sir Lancelot Sir Galahad Sir Bedivere Sir Bors And Sir Not Appearing And one knight, Concorde, Sir Robin’s 1st Minstrel And 1st monk and 7 laker girls and lady of the lake
Funny. It was $11 million. The Original, NY version. With that cast, director it had to be hefty. Even so, they used the money when they needed to, for a good gag and then when the gag called for cheapness, they did that too.
Yes, unfortunately. I see your comment is from 15 years ago , my GOD, time, time time.... Terry Jones just passed in Jan of 2020 - right on the Covid cusp! But not from it.
i understand they did the song "you won't succeed on broadway......" a little differently than the original. The original was a howl, but i;d like to see the revised version. Do you have it?
I can't find it anywhere! Because we don't have the big Jewish financier thing over here, they took those references out and changed the song to "You won't succeed in showbiz if you haven't got a star". I've seen the show twice now, and the first time (about two years ago) is was really lame, but I saw it again a month ago and they've rewritten it. It was hilarious this time around. The theatre were selling soundtrack CDs, so I would guess it will be on there. Hope that helps...!
Richard Cook We don't laugh because of the 'big jewish financier". We laugh because Jews are hugely involved in show business and theatre, from composers, musicians, lyricists, writers, producers etc and yes some financiers.
I was quite unsure this musical was going to be any good before it premiered. I thought....."oh dear, don't touch the brilliant film the Pythons (all of them) made"; but then I saw it and... well it is a top job. Although I have to say that the original cast was the best choice of actors. Here in London recent choices are a bit....wrong. It is damaging the musical.
It seems to work, only problem is all the new main casting, the musical itself remains very popular, but the new actors are....ahem, not the best choice. It might damage the musical quite soon.

Tim Curry = Legend **
Francesco Brosolo no shit
Haha "Legend"... get it? Because he (Curry) plays Darkness in the movie "Legend". He really is truly a centrurial icon.
Tim Curry and Christian Borle = perfection
they could actually be related
My gosh I love them both sm!
I like how they keep saying it's an all British cast and then there's just Christoper Sieber standing there.
I was half-expecting Tim to say "No, let's not go to Camelot; it is a silly place" at the end.
OH MY GOD! THESE PEOPLE ARE AMAZING, ESPECIALLY HANNAH!
I am SOOOOOOOOO impressed with how well these people sing just in rehearsal. OMG it takes my breath away. WOW!

6:04 omg Tim is loving this! 💗
Tim is so humble
IM SCREAMING. I LOVE TIMMY
Mhmmm I love Tim Curry
I was looking up people from this cast and hadn't realized that the Lady of the Lake was on Game of Thrones (Septa Unella)
Hannah Waddingham was the Lady of the Lake for London and part of the Broadway tour.
I saw this show last night in Toronto. I laughed my ass off! The Lady of the Lake steals the show!
3:38 XD Tim's face XD
Tim Curry and Hannah Waddingham how perfect
i just love tim!!
Tim Curry’s shade at the Americans in the beginning
Ella O’Neill Weird considering Sara Ramirez pretty much made the damn show.
I'm American and still loved it, it's Tim Curry, and Americans are darn needy.
It doesn’t surprise me
I didn't know we 'ad a king! I thought we were an autonomous collective LOLOL :)
I love Monty Python they are the best of the best
I'm seeing this later this month! So excited!
Saw it in Las Vegas at The Wynn last month. It was excellent!
I had the great fortune to see Spamalot on Broadway in New York. Absolutely brilliant.
I would have so loved to see this! But only this cast would make it great! Love the Pythons and TIm!
I saw the original cast on Broadway. Also, in english, we were watching the movie "Clue", and Tim Curry was in that, so it was weird to see him as young as he was then, and he is a lot older now.
We all are....
@@martinsorenson1055 I can say that I am 15 years older than I was when I left that comment
@@TheDiplomancer And I'm only a few hours older since I left mine....Wow.
Man I really wish I could have seen this
United States. I believe formally in March 2005 (correct me if I'm wrong). London saw the arrival of Spamalot in October 2006. In both places, Broadway and the West End (London) Tim Curry was King Arthur.
Oh how I would have loved to see this
Christian Borle is incredible
I was supposed to be there, that night......ahhh, couldn't go in the end...long story. I'm glad you had a great time, one of those 'once in a lifetime' opportunities in the theatre world :)
The clips of Christian Borle as Not Dead Fred are better than whoever plays him here! Borle is an amazing talent!
These are rehearsals not the finished show. I guess things get refined
sounds like it is form the south bank show . this is a show about the arts on ITV
The Palace Theatre, now home to Priscilla - Queen of the Desert. (I wish shows here In New York put things on top of our marquees, like the Grail or a stiletto)
If Tim was in game of thrones I probably would have watched it
Anyone interested in the full 45 minute show, please, do send me a message and I will reply you will the link to the entire documentary for the making of Spamalot. It is uploaded on a different website. I cannot post links here, so a Private Message is the only way. Cheers!!
Dear Eleanor Powell2007,
I'd love to see it. I just saw it on Broadway, and it was fabulous!
ucrfl
I really like sara ramirez as the lady of the lake but this lady does it well too. I hope they put it on DVD I would but it instantly
@IJVin I was thinking that too!!
"you wish you werent born!!!!" lmao i miss spamalot!!
Christopher Sieber (Galahad) looks like Jason Segel.
Aw, yes . . . I see what you mean! My bad. Oops! He was a very funny and kind guy. I loved chatting with him. I worked an an agency that represented him.
to think this guy sang sweet transvestite xP
kitkatcutie520. right
Well, he was younger then....
that was a lot of fun!
"Cameltoe" ROFL XD
I remember howling so loud when that happened....
I was wondering where I saw Hannah watching Ted Lasso.
Turns out, my subconscious remember these bits!
Probably why I wasn't surprised when she sang.
@IJVin Ah, finally someone notices too! I saw a vid of spamalot and I thought it was Jason Segel at first :P
Sometimes he reminds me of Brendan Fraser, mainly with the wig when he pulls those funny faces in 'The Song That Goes Like This' (Brendan Fraser in George Of The Jungle)

Is there more Hannah? Do you still have the link if so?
I nearly died laughing when I saw this! I don't think it was the original London cast, but it was still hilarious! XD
@maipigenDK Sara Ramirez was in he original Broadway cast. This is the London cast.
LOL first it's Molecat, and then Camltoe, THEN Camelot lol
I'm not sure it works in London. I heard that half the jokes in it are about Broadway. Then again, obscure cultural references never stopped some of us Americans from liking Monty Python.
It's really weird watching them perform without their costumes on
sara is better id say but my aunt was a costume person on the us tour when hannah and some of the cast came over, it was excellent, then i saw sara and them in shubert both shows were out standing
they are talking about it, putting it on DVD
Yes indeed. Sorry you missed the opening - hope you have seen it anyway though. :D
Tim Curry is Nigel Thornberry! XD
Hannah Waddingham's figure..OMG..
7:36
"Stage freeze!"
"Don't say stage freeze just do it"
Who edited this documentary? Those are some very hard cuts between parts, and most of all at the end. Very jarring.
@malisemary1 Oh, thank you! Any chance the interview might be watched on youtube?
Fetcher la vache :D
So funny to see, if you go to london, this is a must see ;)
I love you Patsy...
@eleanorpowell2007

It looks like Eric Idle at 4:40
ummm, in some clips the not dead guy is Christian Borle... but some its not him....
the clips are from the broadway production with christian in it, the rehearsal clips are the west end rehearsals
I can never see him without thinking about Dr. Frankenfurter, personally.
nohollaback lol right
XD Nice!
so where can i watch the full play please?
Omg! How much did production cost?! 😲
Funny. It was $11 million. The Original, NY version. With that cast, director it had to be hefty. Even so, they used the money when they needed to, for a good gag and then when the gag called for cheapness, they did that too.
Graham Chapman died a long while ago, right? I met him in the 80s.
Yes, unfortunately. I see your comment is from 15 years ago , my GOD, time, time time.... Terry Jones just passed in Jan of 2020 - right on the Covid cusp! But not from it.
I'm very new to this show, but...pardon me I thought Sara Ramirez was the original Lady or am I wrong?
This is the Original LONDON cast. It opened it London one year after it opened on Broadway.
Why do i get the feeling that Terry Gilliam did not like Spamalot?
Love it!!!!
d=(^o^)=b
Lol that guy in the Not Dead Yet part looks a bit like Graham Chapman
Bless him

imiss toronto
Oh.... I seeeeeeee......! I guess the song doesn't translate properly in this direction either then...! ;)
David Hyde Pierce is the only good Robin
Clay Aiken was fabulous as Sir Robin, I saw it. I know I'd love DHP as well.
tim curry is still hott
I was quite unsure this musical was going to be any good before it premiered. Where is David Hyde Pierce 😢
@ 0:33 I didn't vote for 'im
where did you get this?
Hahaha Cameltoe! Never noticed that!
Probably because I was in the last rows in Ny...
It seems to work, only problem is all the new main casting, the musical itself remains very popular, but the new actors are....ahem, not the best choice. It might damage the musical quite soon.
I saw this over a bloody fortnight

SARA RAMEREZ IS WAYYYY BETTER! (terrible spelling)
don't like hannah as lady of the lake don't know why
Hasn't aged well; seems forced and over-the-top.
