Tell me about it, I have a 1982 RD125LC I decided to restore for a bit of fun. To be honest it's been surprisingly reliable, after finding 1-2 to issues per ride for the first month or so anyway... The only thing I haven't managed to fix entirely is the speedo cable occasionally sticking and lurching forward.
As far as 90s / early 2000s bikes go I've barely ever had an issue, but then I've mostly ridden a Honda.

I just got a 2001 Yamaha r6 with 36k miles , and I’ve been doing a full restoration, without getting in to the pistons and cylinders.
