- In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train drivers view from Chur to Ilanz in Switzerland along the river Rhine in the Rhine Gorge also known as Switzerland’s Grand Canyon. You can enjoy this video in the resolution 4K/60 frames per second.
Chur is a capital of the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. The railway station was opened in 1858 and it is the most important railway junction in Graubünden. The station is the terminus of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS) standard-gauge main line from Zürich, and is also one of the most important stations on the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) metre-gauge network.
Ilanz in the Swiss canton of Graubünden is an intermediate stop on the 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) gauge Reichenau-Tamins-Disentis/Mustér line of the Rhaetian Railway.
The journey along the Rhine gorge: Ruinaulta is the name given to the monumental Rhine Gorge between Ilanz (36:30) and Reichenau (09:23) in the local Romansh dialect. Over a period of 10,000 years, the Rhine has pushed its way through the rock between Ilanz and Reichenau. The result is a gorge that is quite rightly known as the Swiss Grand Canyon.

@user-np7se4cs6t Thank you for watching.
A gorgeous day for a great ride. The sky was very blue, and the scenery was fantastic. Thanks for showing me this part of the world.
@kenyongray2615 You are right. it was a beautiful day for a ride.
Splendid sunny day with beautiful landscapes. Thank you for this very nice cab ride a little too short.
Glad you enjoyed it. The landscape is really amazing.
Once again we have a superb video from the Railway Master. The quality and selection are fantastic. Can't wait for another journey with all my new friends on this channel.
Glad you enjoyed it! I appreciate your comment. I am working hard to produce interesting journeys filmed in high resolution. At the beginning of the next week I will post a new video.
@Stas1661 😊
Wow, you went also to Switzerland, the Mecca of rail fans, and filmed a beautiful line, from Chur into the mountains following The Rhine valley. You are doing a great work, a pleasure to watch your videos, greetings from a traveller and creator from Germany!
Yes I did. Switzerland is a very nice Country, I met a lot of wonderful people there and the landscapes and railways are just astonishing. Thank you for your nice comment. There will be a few more interesting videos from that area. Greetings from Slovenia.
Amazingly beautiful video of the Rheinschlucht! I've been in the Glacier Express twice, and this part of the ride was for me an absolute highlight!
Thank you so much for posting this video.
Greatings from the Netherlands.
@Thea W. Glad you enjoyed it! I still have to go further on the Glacier Express. Hopefully still this year. Greetings from Slovenia.
Very nice vid! Had a ride with this rain some years ago - from Reichenau to Versam. We made our way back on a raft through the Rhine Gorge. An unforgettable experience!
That sounds great! It is an amazing place.
Wonderful ride - I didn't want it to stop! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! There will be more rides, soon.
Merci. Swiss really is great.
I have always wanted to travel in the locomotive...thank you for the next best thing!
You are very welcomed. Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice clear in focus video, very good, Thanks....
You are welcome!
Cool vid, thanks! 👍🏻
Glad you liked it! Thank you!
Absolutely fantastic scenery. I love narrow gauge trains. New subscriber. Thanks for the video. Have a great day.
Thanks for the subscription. And great day for you too!
Good quality, thank you. 👍
Thank you too!

Hello from Slovenia. Bienvenido!
Excellent video!!!
Thank you so much
Beautiful ride! Although the rail uses the natural passes between the higher levels of ground, the whole railway is still around 600-700m above sea level. The first stops are just under 600m, and the last ones just above 700m. The whole elevation difference is about 120m!
Great solution with dual gauge track from 02:00 to 06:30 (you can see freight train waiting)- obviously it alows for the large (standard gauge) cargo trains to go via this line (notr that just one track is dual gauge).
A sunny and warm weather and very beautiful images for a superb video. You say Chur is the terminus station for the SBB CFF FFS. This is correct for passenger traffic. But the goods traffic goes to the EMS factory. For this, one of the tracks between Chur and Domat/Ems has three rails: two for the 1000 mm track of the RhB and a third for the normal SBB track. And you have, in this video (really lucky man), very, very rare images: an SBB freight train coming from the Ems factory and waiting in Domat/Ems for permission to use the normal track to Chur. Exceptional pictures!👏👏👏👏👏
@TrainPlayer59 thank you for all the additional information. They are very helpful for me and for other viewers. The weather was really nice for a whole week and I got to film quite a few nice videos in that region. Switzerland is great. Have a nice Sunday!
Nádherné video.Díky.
I appreciate it a lot
Nice video 👍😉
Thanks for the visit! I appreciate your comment.
Not quite Arizona, but very beautiful nevertheless. Fantastic white cliffs. Dual gauge in places,. Wow.
Not quite Arizona, you are right, different, but beautiful. Glad you enjoyed it.

Perfect timing!👏👍
True.
Good stuff. Those stations which allow people to wander over the tracks would give British Health and Safety inspectors a coronary.
🤣
Why? It seems safe enough?
@@Phosphorite05 no, actually it is sad. And, unfortunately, people are crossing tracks all the time. It was just the way you wrote your comment.
@@RailRelaxation oh did the comment mean directly over the tracks? I thought it meant a bridge over them.

Você conheçe as linhas brasileiras? Pode recomendar alguma para eu gravar?
@@RailRelaxation Somente Minas Gerais.
Thanks for watching! I will...
@@RailRelaxation Thank you very mutch... have a nice Weekend.... see you….
@@magicworldbyjorg have a nice weekend.
@@RailRelaxation Thank you..
Nice video when you doing next video
Very soon! Normally I post new videos on Tuesdays and Fridays. That is my goal. Sometimes happens like last week when there was a little gap in between.
I still wonder why the Rhaetian Railway stayed with the 1,000 mm gauge, when the Swiss Federal Railways adopted the 1,435 mm gauge. But as it may, it's actually a beautiful ride, though.
It is a beautiful ride.
A line built with narrow gauge allows tighter curves as well as steeper gradient. Perfect for building trains in the mountains. Hence why RhB is fully metric gauge.
What gauge the track ? And voltage of the overheads ? That's not a "Third Rail" for power I presume ? - dual guage track ? Speedy too.
It is a dual gauge track for standard-gauge freight traffic from Chur to Domat/Ems and after that all rail infrastructure is metre-gauge. I am not sure about the voltage of the overheads.

@@theonl1128 Thank you!
Will there be the sequel Ilanz - Disentis?
This time I didn't record it. I will put it on my bucket list and try to make it on my next trip to Switzerland.
@@RailRelaxation thank you
@Piero Giuliano you are very wellcome.
@@RailRelaxation thank you
Bonsoir ! Merci
@Jean Noël RENAUDIN this time I did not film the way to Zermat, but I intend to do it in the future.
Average speed of train = 47.03 Km/hr
@user-ui8io6bb9m 👍
These trains seem to be very loud in comparison to the ones i’m used to in my home country
Interesting, I didn't find them loud.
@@RailRelaxation in my country the trains are very silent. In the cabview videos all you hear is a very slight hum. That hum is a lot louder hear
@@RailRelaxation nevermind, i just looked at one of our trains, its just as loud, though this is a lower pitch which made me feel like it was louder
Maybe the difference in volume is because I record outside and most of the other cab ride videos are filmed from inside of the cabin.
@@RailRelaxation ah, that must be it, maybe the weight affects it a bit too?
Yes, the water level is low at the moment.
very poor optics
OK...the masts are bending a bit, but the recordings are in good quality. A bad day wen you wrote this? 😉
