As others have said, you're wrong on the Sony camera button. It's insanely useful and I use it all the time. I also know photographers who use the Xperia in conjunction with their Sony cameras since it can act as a second screen. It's genuinely just so useful. Also, I think you'd really enjoy an Xperia phone, to be honest. Waterproofing, HDR OLED with a high refresh rate, eSIM and 5G, microSD slot, headphone jack, stereo speakers, fast charging, lots of power, great cameras... It's good stuff.
Oh boy, you lost me completely on Sony. This button is great. Period. For those who don't know, it lets you open camera app instantly, and can be even set it up to capture a photo while opening. Bo double click on power button. No swipe from shortcut. Just press it for like 0.7 sec and you can capture a fleeting moment. It is two staged, so pressing it to the point locks focus, pressing it completely captures a photo and holding it down captures a series. I don't like a lot of Sony's Android experience, their pricing and support (I do not own Xperia anymore and probably I wont). But hating this camera button is borderline idiotic.
So true, i don't know how often i missed a good photo, because it took too long for my fiddely fingers to open the camera app manually and take it. I am so glad that apple added a SHUTTER BUTTON (fuck off camera control, nobody gives a shit), so i can just spam click the shit out of it while taking my phone out and that it'll be ready by the time i have pointed it on the thing.
@arctrix765 couldn't agree more. I feel like they added all of those swipes gestures unnecessarily, to just differentiate themselves from Sony's button. But all they needed to do is to add the same button. But hey, the shutter button is a shutter button. Cannot wait for more phone manufacturers to start to copying Apple copying Sony.
Not saying I hate the camera button but you could pick up the phone which automatically turns on the screen, press the camera button on the lock screen and press the volume buttons to do the same thing all within 3 seconds. The action button can be set to do the same thing, it would be idiotic to think this is game changing stuff.

Xperia's treatment of the shutter button downright perfect, as it is a two step trigger going from smart autofocus to capture, that's where apple failed, their button is just too much without adding any functional advantage as focus is still controlled by tapping and all the mini menus are accessible by swiping
@ idk man, before switching to iOS, everyone I knew would always use the slider. My biggest issue with it is that it makes the volume buttons too low. Switching from the 13 series to the 16, it really feels alien
