this honestly makes me sad . my best friend prolly goin here next year and it just seems like such an amazing place and im going to MISS her but it also makes me sad seeing so many people passionate and doing things they LOVE and like that could've been me ? but i gave up drawing years ago because i convinced myself i was never going to improve and just looking back at where i could be now if i had continued upsets me
So happy i got to experience Discovery, now to tavkle Academy Feb.7

My daughter is a 2013 grad. The best decision I made was sending her to this great school.
im going there for my next summer for my 9th and 11th grade year then hopefully I can make it in the school for my 11th and 12th grade year
For those auditioning:
I tried out for drama this year (2018), which was my passion next to writing but not my strongest suit since I had no formal training whatsoever. Just because you get an interview on your first go like I did doesn't mean you'll make it.
I was very loose about practicing for my audition. I rehearsed my lines quietly, since I don't like to bother my family, and this led to me having a very quiet and awkward voice. When my audition came up, the judges liked my singing, but didn't say a word about the monologues.
First week of april, I was sent a physical letter. When I opened it, I found out I was declined (at 6 am in the morning). I feel like I could've tried harder, because I sound much better when I'm alone than I ever did at that audition. I don't think I'll try for drama again, but I think I may go for visual arts or writing next year.
My point is: Do not be lazy about your audition like I was. The competition seems very lax, as the other people I was there with were also nervous but sounded much more confident, but it is in reality very difficult. Of you get lazy, do not expect to get it. I made that mistake and paid for it, and nobody else should give up their chance.

hannnah whatley oooo, are you auditioning? Btw I don’t think she still can. One of the teachers there came to my school and talked with us. She said that the only art you could audition for senior year is music.

Hey Jade! If you get accepted into the high school, tuition is free and you just have to cover the meal plan. However, there is also financial aid to cover the costs for the high school or summer programs if there is a proven financial need. Application deadline is January 5th!
And you can tell your parents that if you get in, chances are they'll save a TON of money on college because almost all of our high school students get scholarships, and many get full rides to college! :)
SCGSAH im just a freshman, so i may want to finish the year before I spend money on a school i may struggle in. I was thinking of the summer program though!

@@Anna-si4ck hello anna, sadly I didn't turn my application in on time and I stupidly deleted everything on my google docs(every piece of my writing) so I don't know what going to happen, but I hope you have a great experience!
I'd love to go to this school for visual arts but 1. I think it's to late to apply 2. I would just miss home WAY to much 3. I've already applied for a STEM program in my home town
