HOW TO PLAY SANJIGEN: Sanjigen is simple, you score by placing 3 pieces that connect on a face, think tic tac toe, but there are multiple board & they share positions. Once all positions are filled, points are counted, & who ever has the most wins.

For those wondering what the goal of the game is (4:05), it's Tic-Tac-Toe with multiple faces. You need to get "three in a row" as many times as possible.
The itch game really helped me understand the game's design. W game. Simple to understand once you start playing.
i think i was so excited to tell the story that I dropped the ball in explaining what the game even is 💀
@@Jabrils hahah I played the itch io game and it was really fun! Sometimes when spinning the cube it would click automatically a position as if i was playing instead of turning the cube, also I wish I could increase the sensitivity when dragging the cube. I know it's meant to be a physical game but I thought I'd share my 2 cents!
If I went back for my PHD i wouldnt sleep better because I wouldnt sleep at all
💀
Banger vid. I remember when you showed me this a few years ago, man I hope it wasn't 5 years pls. I thought it was cool then and it still is, with or without the rule change lol. You'd give it to people and let them come up with their own game rules and give them a few examples and let them have fun with the variations. There are many ways you could play a game like this. Good luck with it!
Legendary sentdex! Lmao has it really been that long? I don't even recall showing it to you lol
I appreciate the vulnerability and self reflection of this video. I can definitely relate to just about everything you said at the beginning.
You could try contacting the company again, its been years afterall, they might be interested once again!
I just finished a project that I had started 3 years ago and then dropped after a few months. I spent the last 6 months determined to finish it, and I just completed it before my birthday a few days ago! Even though I'm not sure if it will succeed or not, I feel an immense burden off my shoulders because I no longer have to think about "what if I had finished that project?" and I can now finally move onto my next project.
hell yeah. Big W 👏
What project? Show it off!
Idk if i'm being dumb here but unless there's more to the game, surely now every game ends in a draw? Both players get 9 turns to place pegs before the whole thing is filled and that's GG 9/9
yes, it is a simple game, & the master optimal sequences wont take long, but having playtested its not immediate & every game surely doesn't even in a draw. Only when 2 optimal players meet
As a territory game it can potentially use a go like capturing mechanic
@@sleepyron_av maybe if a unit is in a sandwich they get captured unless they're in a 3 stack already. Could make it so you have interesting plays around corners and edges.
@@JabrilsCan't P2 just always mirror P1 regardless to force a tie?
You only get points each time you get 3 in a row, number of pins placed does not equal number of points.
I imagine you already hit up the game producers again saying you made it draw solved and have a manual, but if you haven't you should, sad that it ended like this but it is what it is ;-;
Aaaaaaaa, I remember seeing this in posts/past streams of yours but hadn't gotten around to delving into 'em at the time ^^; It's very cool to hear that this was originally planned to be a toy published by another company, t-though it's unfortunate that the offer expired... At the same time though, congrats on returning to this project and revising it! Appreciate the call to action to do that ourselves too, maybe I will finally release another game after not doing so in like...almost three years, meeeeeeeeeep
Try the poppy playtime playbook! Break your game into parts & then release part 1 for free, & then sell the other parts as DLC
5:32 I love the way you ended this video Jabrils, I think you're 100% right I just gotta find the drive to do it now lol
You got this banana man 😌
I don't quite understand what the problem was, what the fix is, or the point of the game-but it's a fantastic video, with none of the usual 5 to 20 minutes of filler! Meanwhile, I have unfinished projects going back 30 years, but coincidentally, just a couple of hours ago, I reached out to a supplier to revive one of my old ideas. So this video feels like kismet!
The problem was that 2 optimal players always ended in a draw, which the company despised. His solution was to change when the match ended, which means that you cannot draw. Sadly he's too late, for he will not get the million,
That Iis quite literally the opposite of what happened @@pacomatic9833
And I thought I was the king of bag fumbling.
nope. im the captain now 👑
Is your pfp from that old mobile game that was sorta like agario?
@@radpugguy It's from Osmos. I downloaded an Osmos avatar from Steam and decided to use it everywhere.
The game is actually nice, takes a couple of minutes to get to know the rules and after that goes smoothly. A couple of drawbacks is that when playing offline probably half of the playtime you will just count the score and I predict the miscalculations will happen quite often. And also I have a suggestion for a web version to place the pin when the mouse button is released, because often I was placing the pin into the hole when I only wanted to rotate.
WELCOME BACK!! :D
Bro that looks so cool. Time to find a new investor and get yourself that cash!
So Ultra Bouters is just simpler YOMI Hustle?
On the bright side, 5 years allowed him to talk with his lips - all jokes aside glad you don't have to stress about it anymore brother
Flip the Game online is DOPE...
Great Job Bro
Weird coincidence. Just couple of weeks ago I let go of my own project I started ~5 years ago. It was a fangame mod, which, in hindisght would've worked much better as a standalone game. And after it's been eating at my soul for half a decade I just released it as-is, very unfinished, being just a free roam map to run around with no objectives.
I know that nagging feeling of old failure projects. Glad yours got resolved
Now that you've conquered that project, time to fish AI Buddy out of the trash? Don't think we forgot about our boy, that's such a great project with so much potential with all of the local models coming out.
the game feels simple and complex at the same time. good game
I got excited when i saw the thumbnail. I thought it you made some clay art =(
I just dont get it, I feel like im watching a genius keep slipping by insane opportunities like some sort of goofy cartoon character. Like this is not the first time you slipped by making it big with this kind of idea, broooooo what beef does god have with you
unwarranted rant over, keep doing you, loved your videos for a long time now.
Cool! I hope you’ll still look into companies to mass manufacture it
Common jabrils banger
How many projects do you have? Every time i see one of your vids you are doing something new. comics, games, animations, toys and so on lol. That's cool tho keep creating man
its a problem not even my therapist can solve 🥴
Bro made a doinkit
Btw the game has already been made, just in a 2d style, the game is called your only move is hustle and I wonder if that was a inspiration for the game
Yeah that's what I was thinking. Feels very reminiscent without having a major twist. Him talking about the real time replay at the end as a "new" feature felt weird.
@@aryasuri2402Toribash did it before YOMI Hustle. Almost all games are going to be similar to some other game in some sense.
Let's go new jabrils video!
Is it solved with all row/side lengths? how about if it is asymmetrical? Lots of easy options to simulate here that may be more susceptible to chaotic effects. Another option would be making a longer-than face number the win condition, so like 4 in a row on a 3-long side where you have to wrap the edge to score. Interesting possibilities.
What about adding the ability to hop over the other players pins and eliminate them. Maybe double jump?
I see you finally shaved that neck!!! 🤣 ...i honestly believe that your scruff has been holding you back financially!
Good to see you back by the way 😊
So, go contact that manufacturer, you'll get your million?
Dude, change the rules - if you place a stick in the box, it optionally kills the stick in the opposite side. But you can only do that 3 times.
Now you have a strategy game. :)
3:38 bro made a whole fighting game too nah if i put u in 1939 ud come out with an iphone and air fryer before the end of segregation reed richards ass inteligence😭
5:47 dont you dare mention my dusty audi 80 1.8T swap project 😡
Wonder if you can find a minimum number of points to set the win condition so that it's still a draw, and that the player who goes second needs to play more defensive to stop the first player from getting there first.
Edit: that won't work because on an instant win condition player 1 gets there first, but what if you reduced the number of allowed pegs so that the first player doesn't have enough turns to get to the target score before the second player stalls it to a draw?
Maybe I shouldn't assume that as you've probably thought about this a whole bunch you haven't already figured this out 😅
"I let two smart AI play against each other" is not a meticulous proof that the game is solved in a specific way.
Over here in lazy land, it qualifies 😂
I finished my book. I sleep _way worse_ now. Now people can buy it and _leave reviews._
I'm gonna try to make a privative version with clay and sticks
Man... I wish I could finish some old games of mine, if I did would you play it?
Have you tried the win condition variant where you have to get 4 in a row instead of 3 in a row?
Yes, & a diagonal r in a row is near impossible to define 🥴
adding another action or somthing to make it more complex could be good
:)
I found in my playtesting that there was a complexity thresholds that once crossed, most people were interested in playing Sanjigen
Hey Jabrils, ignorant comment as I haven't even given the web version a go yet, buuuut; What if you HAD to play your next move adjacent to a piece already on the cube?
I think that wpuld potentially solve some of your issues, both in a first to 3 style game and in a cover the board type game. 🤙dunno
5:56 ✊
"You know that one project you gave up on and still think about often?"
Dude, I have pretty severe ADHD, you're going to have to be way more specific...
You mentioned you started this after playing chess, right? Why not implement a capture system where instead of getting to 3 in a row you want to leave your opponent with only x-amount of pieces remaining? Instead of each person getting 9 pegs, give them 8 then each person takes a turn placing a peg at random. Make it a mix of checkers meets that triangle golf tee game. You choose your starting positions, you capture their pieces through a mechanic like jumping, until your opponent only has x-pieces left.
Then again, I think your cube-and-peg toy model has a lot of possibilities. I don't see any reason to limit it to just one.
I tried the chess angle early on, but it was too complicated & no one was interested in it. It seems only chess can get away with chess rules. But checkers 🤔🤔🤔
Interesting little game... when you said you were gonna change the rules, I thought it as gonna be first to 4. haha
I experimented with this board, it's not obvious what counts as a diagonal line on a 4 board 🥴
@@Jabrils Oh, I meant keeping 3x3, but the first to score 4 points (instead of 3)... of course, I haven't thought it out, it probably has the same problem as just first to 3 points. I was just thinking, some higher number of points might solve the problem.
What's it like if you make it 4x4 instead?
i tried this, it became magnitudes harder to make a ruleset for, thus harder to explain & keep people's interest
@@Jabrils Makes sense
Glad to see you at least going back for redemption but a part of me feels as though you gotta find someone to re pitch this to. Granted, that may defeat the purpose of providing the free resources such as the online version you created alongside the cad files. Amazing work nonetheless!
bleh, if the product is good & someone really is interested, the free resources shouldn't persuade them. Also i have ideas for other models that would greatly improve this toy's ux 😏
@ king shit
Nice game!!
What about replacing positions with your own color?
Explain how this works 🤔
Oof!
So, did you get that $1M deal?
I don't really get how your AI is proving anything, I think they meant a mathematical proof.
why does the online version say I win when the score is a draw
I didn't have time to test if any difficulty would soft lock the game 😅
Contact the toy manufacturer again maybe there's still time!
Wait...can you not just contact the game reps deom before? Now that you did the thing? I'm missing something...
🔥🕶
They complained about it not being draw solved even though chess isn't draw solved either.
well, to be fair they weren't interested in chess either
that toilet shot was CRAZY lol
Wait, is it a game or just put pegs in the holes? I don’t see a win condition if a player makes a mistake.
go try the digital version link in description & you be the judge!
@ I totally missed the rules explanation in the excitement of a new video, Tic-Tac-Toe then it totals number of wins. Filling the board was just when the match is over. You said the words but for some reason it took a moment to put it together. Guess that’s the price of split focus of watching videos while working.
I still don't get what the game is.
its tic tac toe with 6 shared faces
Bro.....
Try this out with your AI game set up there.
1 pin = no points
2 pins in line/adjacent = 2 points
3 pins in a line = 3 points
4 pings in a square = 4 points
"That one project" what are you talking about. I have more unfinished project that I ever have finished projects. 🤦♂
🫵 pick one
Not solved. In fact, it's broken the game. Can't really be called a "game" now, more of a pin-cushion...
Huh?

and if there's multiple projects sitting around half a decade? 🥲
