This game is absolutely amazing. Tons of replay ability, deep story, and original plot. It's an absolute classic the makes me nostalgic of the days when video games had a bit more quality put into them.
I just wondered if is this playable on ipad. Now I'll definitely give it a shot. I had some gamebreaking bugs with the PC version. Maybe compatibility issues with Windows 8.1. Now the only thing I need is an IOS port of Fallout 1&2.
I didn't call the reviewer an idiot. I just got a little mad because he criticized the graphics of the game. Fine, maybe you're right, most current games are going to look slightly better than KotOR, but the fact of the matter is, that KotOR still manages to look very good in this day and age. There aren't any visible "polygons" like he said. It's textures and animations may not be up to par to "today's" games, but I think it still stands up to them pretty damn good.
well true enough, there was only 1 real ending with a couple different versions of it. Not as much diversity as I would have liked But I actually truly did enjoy that one ending that we did have. Also liked the extended cut DLC ending, why that wasn't in from the start I have no clue... But lets not start a discussion about Mass Effect on a KotOR video ;)
so you didnt get dissapointed when Bioware told us the ending is going to be fantastic, but what we got was: go pick your favorite color. The extended cut DLC made it better, but still, if you dont get it its just bad.
It's not a matter of opinion. A bowling ball is heavier than a feather, a blu-ray disc is clearer than a VHS, and a current gen game looks more realistic than a 10 year old game. Some games were more aesthetically pleasing then the generic, gray-brown shooters that are released today, but it's a simple fact that even the most realistic games released in '03 don't hold up against the Crysis' and Skyrims of today. The hardware simply wasn't powerful enough. I brought up indies because (Cont...)
nice review ill be sure to get this when I get some money just spend some on other games used to play this a lot when I had the xbox version of this game
best game on ios market so far ! and im not really a big star wars fan.. game is just stunning and holding you for hours in front of your device, but with no regrets
(Cont...) they have a fraction of the budget that KotOR had and yet can still make games that look better than KotOR (Chivalry: Medieval Warfare.) And the reason I used Mirror's Edge and Batman as examples is because they both use Unreal Engine 3 yet still look amazing. The point I'm trying to make is, if you think KotOR looks better than modern games that's fine. But don't try to state it as fact or act like the reviewer's an idiot for not agreeing with you.
flawlessly, not exactly. i ran into some issues playing mostly characters getting stuck after battle. ipad has yet to have it. fmvs acting bizarre mostly playing 3X speed. but it is a bioware game and from what i have gone through i just except every bioware game is buggy. some far more then others.
i'm not a fan of star wars at all, but the ships are awesome. so i am amazed at how fast i took to this game. but i also love rpgs and i wanted to find one playable game by bioware. and when i saw it on ipad i tried to wait for a sale, but was too impaitant. but yeah worth the price and harddrive space, one of the few that are. 2 gigs is worth it to give up for it. and aspyr does a far better job at fixing the bugs then bioware has ever done. runs better then on my pc.
Man, that's my opinion, and I think it's a good one as well. Don't bring indies into discussion, they're WAY different... Retro style or not, the fact of the matter is that indies today are mostly crap, for ME, at least! Out of the bizillions of indies, I only like about 9-10 or so, and those are the ones that are not 2D side-scrollers or point and click adventures, which is about 90% of them... I haven't said anything about Mirror's Edge, or Batman, I said about others. Mostly UE3 engine ones.
$2.99 for a limited time. Personally, it is nice and everything but I've played and finished KOTOR 1 and 2 on PC a long time ago. Kind of beats the purpose when you know what to expect.
I mean, I bought this without really knowing what is was then continued to play it at least 7-8 times more, while it doesn't have a whole lot more to search for after your first play through I still get chills every time I play it so while it's not like a "whole new experience" after you have already played it, it doesn't make it any less enjoyable (and yes I know the comment is 11 months old)
I still have the xbox version if this game and im dark jedi consular i could learn many dark side force moves :) SUCH A BIG ADVANTAGE i might do the same to the ipad version or become a jedi guardian!
WHAT. WHAT WHAT. WHAT I didn't hear a thing about kotor being released on ios. I missed out on it back in the day (didn't play it) This is a great way to catch up.
Oh come on. I love KotOR as much as the next guy but it was 10 years ago. Yeah, it still holds up pretty damn well, but to suggest that it looks better than Arkham City or Mirror's Edge is just insane. Hell, most indie games (that aren't intentionally going for a retro style) look better. Take off the rose-tinted glasses buddy.
One more thing, what the fuck do you mean outdated graphics and "polygons"... This game looks BETTER, TODAY, than 80% of the games currently on the market!!! Most of this crap nowadays is done piss-poor in Unreal Engine 3 with the graphics of fucking Mario 1. KotOR still retains it's shine, even after TEN YEARS have gone over it. It looks amazing to this day, you can't see any "polygons". The only thing just a tad wonky about it are the animations, a bit lacking, but it's a damn awesome game...
This game simply made my childhood. I had so many problems at school with fucking retards all over the place, then I got home and I could just sink myself into this masterpiece. If you call yourself a gamer you NEED to play this. Preferably on PC, on a big screen with mouse and keyboard, but in desperate times, I guess you can play it on an iPad too. One thing though. Don't play this game like fucking Angry Birds, that is, casually. Reserve a good few hours a day ONLY for it. It deserves it!
i got it on steam actually, i guess it was recently moved. most ea games are being transfered. and i don't trust origin mostly because of ea and bioware. i trust valve far more.
What if you have to share your computer with others? What if it got broken beyond repair? What if you hate Steam? What if you just want to play it at Starbucks or something? Besides, odds are the serond one'll get ported too, and you'll bee able to get both on iOS for $20 as well.
I played through KOTOR 1&2, now downloading KOTOR 1 for iPhone, and in april im getting a new pc so ill play through both games again. Then I'll play KOTOR 2 with the KOTOR 3 mod. KOTORception.
This is was released in 2003, of course the graphics aren't to snuff but what matters in the story. You could have the best graphics in the world, but it won't mean jack shit if the story is total crap.
This game is absolutely amazing. Tons of replay ability, deep story, and original plot. It's an absolute classic the makes me nostalgic of the days when video games had a bit more quality put into them.
Easily one of the best games ever.
I just wondered if is this playable on ipad. Now I'll definitely give it a shot. I had some gamebreaking bugs with the PC version. Maybe compatibility issues with Windows 8.1. Now the only thing I need is an IOS port of Fallout 1&2.
You could probably emulate fo1 and 2 dude
So far I'm loving this port. The controls need tweaking but nothing that's too frustrating. Excellent review!
Is this game good on the iPhone 5 gen??
I didn't call the reviewer an idiot. I just got a little mad because he criticized the graphics of the game. We want the Reven story continued!!!
Shut the hell up
K
It's funny how this video has more comments than reviews on the App Store
well true enough, there was only 1 real ending with a couple different versions of it. Not as much diversity as I would have liked

But how is the experience on phones specifically?
pretty much the same, but smaller.
where is jade empire though? and where is shinmue 1 and 2?
what no shadow? if it was technical limitation, a simple round shadow would have been enough
Would the game play well on a tablet?
so you didnt get dissapointed when Bioware told us the ending is going to be fantastic, but what we got was: go pick your favorite color.
The extended cut DLC made it better, but still, if you dont get it its just bad.
What's the best Bluetooth controller to use with this?
I always considered playing KOTR, but never got around to it. Now that I can play it on the go, might as well try it
Never played it and I'm very impress with this came story and polish. Loving the ride...
Is kotor 2 ever coming to mobile?
Yes
How about replay value ?
Thanks for the great review! May I know how you recorded your iPad screen so smoothly and clearly without any lag?
tbh I loved the ending, any average "happy end" as people wanted would have seriously disapointed me from a story telling ace company like Bioware

best game on ios market so far ! and im not really a big star wars fan.. game is just stunning and holding you for hours in front of your device, but with no regrets
I missed this when it got released because I stepped away from gaming for 7 years.
So fucking happy I can finally play this and on my ipad!
Not really. There are some large areas but it's definitely not open world. Have you ever played Dragon Age? It's very similar.
more games with such a depth for ipad pls!
Why pay $10 for the iPad version when you can get KOTOR Collection (2012 release) for $20. The collection runs flawlessly on PC running on Vista.
Vista 4 lyfe
this game has subtitles in spanish???
It be nice to see Battlefront hit ios, w/ online multiplayer.

same here, but i still love those ships. and it is a great game, love the random arguments with my teamates. :)

2,3 GB !? I am always struggling to find place in my 16GB ipad :(
$2.99 for a limited time.

Have you even played Bully & Infinity blade 3 ? They look way better
One of the greatest games ever made!
This game simply made my childhood. I had so many problems at school with fucking retards all over the place, then I got home and I could just sink myself into this masterpiece.
